i'm in california, pretty mush no small engine vehicles can be made street legal. last time i looked only an electric golf cart can be made street legal. but requires bumpers, all the lights and seat belts.
I'm also in California and my doodle bug 212 cc has more power than a scooter and can't make it street legal lol. Love what you did with your mini, you gave me some ideas.
I saw a video where a guy got his bike registered in Michigan I think. He put a horn, lights, indicators and such on there and got a tag for it. I'm going to try in Maryland. I might have luck registering it as a low speed motorcycle, I have a larger bike. Mini bikes are banned in my city but it's a commonly ignored law because we have such a big dirtbike issue and police have been restricted from chasing people on bikes...So you'll see several dirtbikes, if not a whole platoon of them riding down the street and wheelieing, sometimes mopeds/scooters and rarely an ATV. I think at least making it look/function street legal will save a lot of hassle because I'd be one of few actually with a helmet and mirrors and lights.
I am in the process of making a custom Yamaha TY80 street legal. It has passed the state trooper inspection and the next step is to get a title and plates. I live in Colorado and getting an off highway dirt bike title only requires DOT tires, headlight, tail light, brake light and horn. No turn signals required.
Dude you need a license plate registration for your street legal mini bike that way people can report your license plate to the police officers if there's a crime going on because that's the law and you will need license and insurance for your street legal mini bike just in case if you get into an accident with a street legal mini bike
I had my baja doodlebug and warrior inspected and both passed by indiana police. If your mini bike has a vin # on it like mine, its an easy process. It's a "moped"... Registered and plated in my sisters name because she lives right over the border in Indiana. I live in Illinois with our parents and she leaves it at the house so I ride it around in Illinois since I can't legally register them as a moped here. Since it has plates on it and is registered, home state vehicle laws follow you when you travel so I'm legal.
@@MybackHurtz1 why dont you do a little research on it? There is a Indiana mini bike Facebook page and everyone there has their mini bikes street legal and registered as mopeds. I dont even live in indiana and I know your home state laws better than you 😋 lol
I would love to get a Thunderbird but darn the colors brother, yuck! I can see that scheme on a vintage Cat or maybe a Rupp but not the Thunderbird my man. what if you turned the mini bike into a functional bicycle first. Swapping out those fat mini bike tires for those old style petaled moped wheels you see on those 1980"s 50cc mopeds. Basically taking the mini bike frame turn it into a bicycle, then add a motor kit to make it a moped. Wouldnt it then be considered a moped or motorized bycycle? The key being..making it look like a mountain bike first. I dont know, it was just an idea.😃
