Correction - Hiab is not a crane and a truck combined although it serves as a short derivative from lorry loader crane in the UK.
Hiab is a knuckleboom crane manufacturer, a part of Cargotec Group 😉

Only in the UK are things so generally categorized that you would would call an Effer brand crane a HIAB.
I do know what you mean exactly. Here in Canada we just call them knuckle boom cranes regardless of the manufacturer.
Although I personally prefer Hiab, with that being said I have used them all and are all generally pretty good as long as they have been maintained properly.

In Finland too these kind of cranes are usually called hiab. But then again isn't Effer Cargotec-HIAB's brand nowadays 😄

That is only a bad habbit from the driver, you can see, he is Old School, it is like calling a photocopier a Xerox machine. He should have said, lorry mounted crane.
Not to be picky, but he should know that blue hats is denoted as operator in training. He should wear a white hat.

It's a generecised brand name, but in the UK to operate a truck mounted crane the qualification is called HIAB.

As much as I love that Hiab, I would prefer to learn how to operate a folk lift

Kudos to your exp[erience but I think you are doing more than you supposed. Deploying the stabiliser led on the grass is a big deal as you don't know how soft is the ground and it is NOT the drivers responsability to know the Ground Bearing around the grass.

it is all about angles, you need to look good at the end of the day, forget about walking backwards using 3 points of contact.

@@doopdapps1088 I was being sarcastic, of course safety is paramount. I am an appointed person, I do liftplans, so it is important to me how a lift is done. I am checking how people do their lifts.
This guy has not been trained for safety, he knows how to use the crane but he needs some safety polishing!!

Usually less labor than a labor job, the extenywoupd be rigging and load securement.
Less driving than an only driving job if that makes sense. Although you do need additional training and or certification.

The crane says clearly EFFER, this isn’t a HIAB. It sounds like I call all the cars BMW even a Toyota.

It is just bad habbit from a seasoned crane operator, but you are correct.
