I have had the same experiences and won't be using the full size chickshaw again. However, I will be trying out the smaller version that I believe will hold up much better and I'll address the lid issue.
Also, I found the door will require repair and replacing often. A sliding door and ramp is a much better option.
A sliding door is a great alternative! Thanks for the idea!
