Love this one Glen. No explaining required just evidence of the reality behind the risks of wires.

Yes, unfortunately there is no better teacher in this case than to witness the tragedy

In America they teach you to do high recon, low recon, check wind, WIRES, way in & way out but it seems that keeping eyes peeled all the time is hard. In some cases someone overestimates his skills too.

Almost killed myself and pax near a hydro station on the La Grande River QC, in an old clapped out Long Dog due to wires.
Had it not been for the pax noticing them at the last second, they would’ve found us in the Sakami the following summer!
The best way to describe their insidious and invisible nature, is from that movie where Indiana Jones takes the “leap of faith” challenge in order to get the Holy Grail!
They DO NOT contrast very well with trees, rocks, water or any other terrain, no matter if you’re on the ground or in the air!

I have seen high tension power lines on air maps before. Is it not part of the flight planning to spot those ? I suppose one could forget about them during flight, but still... 😢 fly safe !
