I was looking forward to Sex Education's third season to see more about Maeve (and other characters). I got a bit disappointed at first because her story was static, I felt like they didn't give her any goal except the American school thing.
I was very happy in the second part though when her story focused more on Otis and her going away, the problems in her friendship with Aimee and her relationship with her mother. A great season, I do hope Maeve is coming back for season 4 if there is one.
I find her very easy to edit for some reason.

No one talks about how good of a teacher Ms. Sands is. She saw something in Maeve when no one else did. She cheered for Maeve when stood up for what she believed in. She is just the best teacher ever. She reminded me of Mr Anderson from the perks of beings a wallflower.

Maeve is a smart and intelligent girl. Everybody says she has turned into a heart-breaker in ss3. But I believe she’s an ambitious and dare-to-dream girl. Her feeling for Otis is true and pure but at that age, it cannot be called love yet. So I quite agree with the writer to give Maeve a moving on. Just feel a bit hurt when she leaves so quickly.

@@Dasunwiz yes even Emma Mackey just said on Elle that “Otis and Maeve’s whole world doesnt revolve around each other. They both have home lives. They're not satellites around each other. If the time is right, it will happen.” That makes sense and gives us a good rationale for this ending in ss3 and opening for ss4 with more mature characters. Otis and Maeve is endgame. 😃😍

She IS the complex female character. It’s sad how people hated and shit on Maeve this season. She went through SO much that any other person would’ve broken under all that circumstances but she didn’t.
Well said. She may not have had as much character development as some other characters (e.g. Aimee, Adam), but I think that's realistic in her case. The shitty thing about her home situation is that it just keeps going and going, no matter what you do or say. As much as you want to go on, the toxic environment doesn't let you. I really hope to see her grow the way she deserves once she's in the US and living with the foster mum with Elsie. I don't even care if she gets with Otis or Isaac or someone else, as long as she gets her happiness.

I loved that that she chose her dream before Otis. You don’t see women in films leaving love for her dream often for the satisfaction for the viewers. I’d love to see them together in season 4.
Maeve is one of the most iconic characters created for any tv show. The essence of her character depicts how complicated and yet beautiful her personality is. She is mistakenly seen as a bad girl by the whole school. Even though Ruby calls her c*ck biter she helped her to find out who leaked her picture and she did not take money as she said no one deserves the trauma that happened to her in the past not even ruby. She helped Aimee to get on the bus. She forgave her mom and brother and loves and cares for Elsie. She took the blame for her brother about the drugs and got kicked out of the school. She is not like others: she lives in a caravan, is financially unstable, mom and brother are not around, and mostly she lived her life independently. She couldn't afford to lose her career at that young age . She loves otis so much that she almost decided not to go to US until Aimee insisted. she explicitly said it is not goodbye and it is "See you soon". Her character development is so remarkable that from the first episode of how she was introduced to otis by eric as "she is basically a nympho" and to the last episode where maeve leaving for the "gifted and talented" program in US and otis saying he is proud of her- shows how exceptional maeve is .

The time of almost 20 months between seasons 2 and 3 was because corona.

This whole vid is such a beautiful exploration of Maeve's character arc so far, but I really got hit hard when the voiceover of her essay from season 1 came in about her dreams. To hear it contrasted with how she has found a home for herself, how she has surrounded herself with all these people who love her so much, and how she has found new goals and dreams that she's chasing really made it home just how far she's come. That was such a beautiful combination. You truly are such an incredible vidder ❤️

I was heart broken to hear that Emma was trying to leave the show. But I hope she realizes the affect her portrayal had on so many of us peoples around the globe. She made me realize that all of are hopes to find love, to be loved will never die, they will last until we take our last breath. As she said to Otis at the end," we can still make it work"....I've lived the affect of the road not taken. I can hear the hip hop artist Coolio(rest his soul)saying, "life is a bitch and then you die still trying to find your piece of that apple pie". Mr. Spock/Star Trek, "Having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical but often true. Yoda speaking on Luke Skywalker, "All of his life he has looked away...to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was.Hmm? What he was doing, ".

I think the Maeve character is off to the US and we wont see her again in S4. I think Emma Mackey has no desire to come back and if you look at alot of the cast interviews for S3 she is not in them. I really think thats why S3 was written with the Ruby/Otis storyline. Maeve grew so much into a ambitious future driven person that even love wont stand in her way for now. S3 was such a change of disliking and liking characters for me. Great Video!

@@michaellutter5148 Not about the character its about the actress who plays her...Emma Mackey has said she didnt know if she is coming back. Yes they need closer of the story line...but if she is not under contract and they cannot get her to come back..Maeve will be gone. I like the Maeve character. Just because they have a shot of leaving Moordale means nothing until we see her or hear in the press she back for S4. Its logical but its open ended for now.

The next seasons were announced by Netflix approx. four weeks after starting the streaming. So maybe the announcing of season 4 will be in the middle of october.
And if we're lucky season 4 starts in 12 months. Between season 1 and 2 also were 12 months, so let's hope the best.

I still ship Otis & Ruby but I am happy with Maeve's character development and story... like, at that age you can't really say if it's actual love, and even though that applies to Ruby and Otis too, I believe they can explore more things in season 4 with them instead of Maeve and Otis. Like how he'll try and make her forgive him and during that process realize he actually developed feelings for her. And s4 could deal with that denial phase of Ruby's when she might accuse Otis of trying to be with her because Maeve left, or something like that... I don't really know cuz I'm not a writer, but that's just what comes to mind when I think of their possible future relationship.
I don’t rly mind Otis & Ruby shippers. But the people who say that Ruby has ‘shown’ more character development in one season more than Maeve ever has throughout the entire show DEFINITELY needs to watch this instead of spouting bs cause it seems like they just suddenly erased season 1 & season 2 Maeve in their minds
