Strangely, when I saw this in the video thumbnail, I thought it'd be a camera you could curve around corners and into tight spaces to see what's there, sorta like the cameras doctors use when looking up people's noses and stuff.

I received mine earlier for the bargain price of £28.51 from Gearbest in a flash sale. I'm well happy with the price. I can't wait to attach it to my helmet and get recording. Thanks Techmoan for the great reviews. It really helped me to decide which camera would be best for me. It was a hard decision though as there are a few that seem pretty good. The Sony, the contour roam, the tcl and the Innovv all seemed the best for what I wanted. But saw this at a bargain price and snapped it up straight away.

It would be nice if the record delay went negative too - with a rolling recording of the last few seconds of captured footage saved to memory when the recording was activated. In many situations the most important evidence is what was happening in the lead up to the impact or the decision to start recording.

This camera looks good for amateur television. The AVI output would plug right in to an amateur television transmitter. The fact that you can a title on the screen is perfect for displaying your amateur radio call sign as required by the regulations. I might pick one of these up for experimenting with amateur TV.

The light on the front of the recorder part is pretty useless seeing how the lens is separate and will be pointing in a different direction...Imagine a built in ring light at the tip of the lens part? Different sizes lens heads should be available to switch out and used with this unit, maybe even as and actual snake camera for use in pipes etc.. Overall a really cool camera and it has loads of potential...I especially like the power pack add on for mobile filming where plugging into a car is impossible. You can film your families whole day at the park without having to hold a camera, lol...Better yet, hook to your kids head and when he watches many years later, memories will come flooding back:)

Great videos. I will suggest in the future models to add another lense lead so you can have 2 lenses recording from the same unit. Of course that may lead to increasing the size of the recording unit, but I think would be a great idea!

Thanks for the great video! I realise that this camera is not sold as an infrared camera, but sometimes being infrared capable depends on the manufacturer using a red filter or not. My handheld video camera for instance is definitely not sold as an infrared camera but performs perfectly well in that role because of the red filter or absence thereof. One of the specialist uses you mentioned could include using a camera like this in that role. It would be very simple to check the cameras infrared compatability by turning off the lights and checking to see if any footage is recorded when the scene is bathed in infrared light. Although there are some enthusiasts who provide such information, they are not mainstream and finding out infrared compatibility for mainstream cameras can be problematic. This may not be something that you are interested in doing but performing a simple check would help others like myself greatly. Thanks again for the great videos.

thanks for this review i'm a quadriplegic and draw holding a pencil in my teeth. i'm thinking of doing some drawing videos and i'm looking for a camera i can mount to my glasses or some type of head harness. the mount isn't that important i can modify what a camera comes with or make my own. i just want something lightweight with good quality video. the lens on a wire does have an advantage because because i can put the controls where i can reach them. do you think this camera would be good for this? i was thinking the 90 degree lens might work? i've watched several of your reviews do you have any other suggestions? thank you.

    • @Techmoan

PS I used a different mount on my crash helmet which holds the cam futher away hence you don't see any visor in the frame, even with the 120 lense. It's on my test review at 15m 01s. It also means the clip is removeable when not in use. Innovv C3 HD Action Cam/Snake Cam Unboxing, Review, Using and Test Clips Plus I warmed the mount clips gently on a gas flame so I could open them slightly to make using them a bit easier. I think it would be useful too to put a white stripe of tape along the top of the bullet to make vertical more obvious?

    1. what kind of temperatures can the C3 withstand? I am speaking of Winter Sports applications.
    2. you said something about people using the camera to record with RC aircraft while using the live stream function. How can this work if the camera has to be plugged into the recording box and the cable for the TV also has to be plugged into the box. Or is there a way to live stream to a monitor wirelessly?

Not a bad little camera though I would suggest that they make the mic in separate from the charger port, then it would be nearly everything a motovlogger would need in a small package. It would also mean that the user could use a better mic option, rather than the supplied one (might depend on where you have it mounted in the helmet as well). I hope the code last for than a few weeks as I am going to get in a week or two.

Techmoan Yeah I hope it does sell well so they can make a better one, but only time will tell on that though. I feel it will sell well though since if there is a problem with the lens it does not mean the end to the camera, and the fact that it is lighter than a GoPro, or clone, I feel a lot of motovloggers might switch over.

I wish they had put in an extra 3.5mm socket for the mic. since now you have to choose between the use of a microphone OR using an external battery/other power supply. This could have been the ideal camera for crosscountry vlogging if it could be charged continuously and have the external mic operational at the same time :-p

Thanks for the review and its looks like a great bit of kit. Is anyone aware if you can adjust the settings using a Mac computer as I don't own a PC? Thanks.

Hi Matt, as always another excellent review. Very thorough. Although. As you were explaining the resolution issues with RUclips, I thought what you really need is a points scale. Your opinion is by now well respected, but some sort of "Gold Star" scale would be very useful. Perhaps a five star rating with half star resolution for things like: 1/ Video Resolution, 2/ Sound, 3/ Frame Rate, 4/ Ease of Use, 5/ Battery Life, 6/ Functionality, 7/ Attachments, 8/ Night Vision 9/ Overall Rating. In that way people can get a "Snapshot" of the item being reviewed. Cheers. David. GadgetBuy

@Techmoan: As far as I like your videos very very much, its not a good idea to upscale clips for comparision. I know its done 2014, but may be you might read it. Upscaling of 720 to 1080 is done in your enviroment and depends on which upscalemode you choose. I can clearly see lots of antialising in those 720p clips, so leave them as they are, dont resize them to fit your 1080p project settings in your cutting application.

I've fitted one of these to my bike, but when I try and view the files with the HT prefix I keep getting an error message and they won't play, but the ones with an L do. Looking on the INNOVV website there's a firmware update but I can't seem to manage to get it to download and transfer it to the camera as I'm a bit of a techno dinosaur so do you have any advice on how to do this. My laptop has windows 10 if it makes any difference Thanks

Also, many (most) of your video wasn't level, does that mean you struggled to mount the camera and are there any lights on the camera, if so can you turn them off?

Great review as usual Matt. My test review came out the same day! Yours is longer as you have more sample footage. I had problems with it on my old 1978 Honda, probably RF from engine. The video froze as soon as I started the engine. Shame as I did two 3/4 hour rides through town and country. There is mountain bike ride footage. Didn't have a problem with G sensor as I turned it off. At 720 60 fps one frame duplicated every 5. Did you get the same result? Class 10 card. I had almost 90 mins battery life which was 9.4Gb. 1.2 Gb 10 mins. In two days you have 3k views, I have just 330 :( Good little camera! Button layout and menu settings look very similar to the Mobius camera. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same hardware inside ;-)

BMWK75Rider It definitely isn't the same camera inside...and the Mobius doesn't have the a physical switch to select between loop/normal video.

Another question I had: the Innovv C1 and C2 are not able to do 60 FPS (from your review of them). Unlike them, is this one able to do it?
