Chennai airport is not as bad as what people say it's not dirty..the departure is area is pretty good and arrival should have been better... Arrival area is not at all looking good even I'm from Chennai ...shops are very expensive I had one plate of paani poori which is 150Rs...it should have more direct flights to destination rather than transiting in different countries
Although the design looks much better than present terminal, I am worried the plan has only 8 boarding gates...even taking into account all these gates are for departure flights (with another set for arrivals) the waiting corridor after security is bound to get crowded...also for a airport of this size, it must have a multi-storey parking deck..wonder whether AAI would incorporate that too..
In what is now a recurring episode at the Chennai Airport, the glass ceiling collapsed for the 63rd time on Monday(May 2nd 2016), since the new domestic terminal was inaugurated in 2013. THE BIGGEST MISTAKE DONE BY THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT is to have given the Chennai Airport modernisation contract to AAI (Airport Authority of India).When the bidding was announced for major airports expansion/modernisation, Only private companies were allowed to bid. AAI protested and went on a protest spree and was asking the government why no public sector companies who understand airports and have been in business in managing airports for decades (ie,..AAI) are denied bidding,..later the government gave in ( Like how BSNL was later allowed to bid for mobile services license when the mobile services came to India way back in 1996 through a court approval, which the private mobile service operators vehemently opposed ).This resulted in AAI competetilvey bidded for Chennai airport, whereas private companies (like GMR,..GVK,..etc) bidded on other airports (like Hyderabad,..Bangalore) and won the contract which is why Bangalore and Hyderabad airports are world class. Its very unfortunate that AAI took over the chennai airport and has made it the worst airport in India.One can find Crows, Pigeons inside the airport which is ought to have been completely sealed not welcome such arial vistors. One can find that the Crows and Pigeons inside the airport have so much accustomed that they know where water and food is available ( brilliant birds !!! ) for their survival inside the airport. I believe this video is about a "NEW" Chennai airport and not the existing one. Which is sorely needed and which is why I asked a perfectly legitimate question (given that most metros in India like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi etc. have all acquired new terminals recently and many other cities are planning new airports). I have been through both domestic and international sections of Chennai airport multiple times (in fact was there just last week) and have probably passed through 50-60 airports all over the world (needless to say ... all of them better than Chennai's current airport of course; with the exception of Chandigarh which was even worse). Not sure why you would make a presumptuous comment like "have I ever seen an airport before?"
Redesigning and Reconstruction of the Chennai Airports is a complete disaster and a sham by the Government of India and the contractors. Since its inauguration 3 years ago, there have been nearly 100 cases of roof collapse or glass breakings at the Airports. Instead of having separate Domestic and International terminals, there should have been one bigger airport for both. Chennai used to be the huge hub for traveling crowd in India. But, due to political reasons, the government of India promoted Bangalore & Hyderabad which are surviving only due to IT boom.
Nice video but the kids signing is so annoying and obnoxious that its not even plesent and I can not even hear the commentator's comments and notes about the new innovation. I understand that you guys want to make it traditional but there is a place for this and a commercial video where many international people will be looking and reviewing this is not a place for it. This is a very annoying review video I have ever seen.
For indian standard this is okay, but still this is behind atleast 10 to 15 years of international standards, i travel lot from chennai to international cities. Very sad from wall, floor, Immigration officers to Machinaries, nothing is clean. As we all know we are just branding us to be super power. But never we can can with this style of slow administration. one more Very sad thing in this video is even computer graphics is not done to international standards.

Mumbai airport is not the best in India but in the world. I have seen all domestic airports as well as International Istanbul (Turkey) Brussels(Belgium) Bangkok(Thailand) Pearson(Toronto) Heathrow(UK). Although it is very big that from A- B or C you have to take tubular rail(Metro) inside the airport even then it's ambience is just 40% of chhatrapati now sanfrancisco airport,Texas. No man no . Mumbai best
I don’t think this is possible in Chennai... even though they build such an airport... they cannot maintain it properly... people have no discipline and spoil it in 2 to 3 years
who made this video? with no sense of traffic rules??? did you notice rom 1:32 - 1:38, the two cars driving on the road and about to take the right turn were on the left most lane. and there is a full line dividing both lanes, meaning you cannot switch lanes there. Kudos the animators on such a grave mistake.
No one shud b impressed by graphics presentation, in TN, the animation and the reality has big gap.....It will all b very dirty. Whereas, namma Kannadigara Bengaluru is one of the best in the world.....Chennai is a village in front of Bengaluru. It doesn't and cannot have the class of Kannadigas' Bengaluru. Chennai stinks, a big slum.....
