    Dr Goldhammer gave me the best nutrition/disease/fasting education I never knew i needed. I have long covid. It's been a year. I've tried everything, except fasting. Today is day 3. I love when the weight melts off, happy bonus. I've never fasted beyond 3 days. I'm a do it myself faster. I'm going for a week.

    It's always very nice to hear Dr. Goldhamer. I watch videos for motivation on the whole food-plant based diet and I am interested in science. I am working on exercise, now, with a realistic strengthening and cardio program. My heart rate is already coming down with about a month of exercise, and haven't checked the blood pressure but I'm not too worried.
    Of course, the biggest part to getting the important measures looking good is the food.

    • @sharonferguson888
      @sharonferguson888 2 года назад +4

      Always start with eliminating animal products, flour, sugar, salt and oil. Then do a short fast from after an early dinner (5 ish) until as late in the day as you can go the next day. Say noon maybe. Then the next week try going from after an early dinner until dinner the next day. Then the next week, try going from after an early dinner, until breakfast the second day. That’s a 40 hour fast. If you can do some shorter fasts like this, a longer one becomes much easier. And remember to drink half your body weight in ounces of water daily.

      It’s unpleasant and uncomfortable when my divinely designed body is letting go of all the emotional and physical toxins I have burdened it with for YEARS! It gave me an opportunity to toughen up on all levels, physical, emotional, and spiritual!
      Stick to the plan, stay the course, no matter what and you will get through! I’m at the TrueNorth Health Center right now on day 11 of my first 14 day water only fast. The first 4 days were very challenging, but since then I feel amazing! ALL the staff and Doctors are so knowledgeable and supportive. I highly recommend investing in this experience. Saying meat leads to diabetes is pretty sketch. Maybe there’s an association with meat eaters who get it from McDonald’s and drink a soda with their burger. But what hunting and gathering society eating a lot of meat had diabetes? None.

    • @k.h.6991
      @k.h.6991 Год назад +1

      Most hunter gatherers didn't eat all that much meat. And we really don't have information on diabetes rates on most of these populations anyhow.

    • @estogaza5827

      @@k.h.6991 what are you talking about. Many of them ate heavy amounts of meat. Europeans ate mammoths. Steppe nomads ate milk and meat. Alaskans ate primarily meat. And none of them had diabetes. We have studied them. They don’t have it. You don’t get diabetes from eating meat. You get it from processed foods and sugar.

    I absolutely love your zany outfit in homage to your friendship and collegial relationship with Dr Alan Goldhamer! You are both a joy to listen to.
    I think that it was very important that Dr Goldhamer stated that the longer someone had already been WFPB, the less time would be needed for his group to help them. As we all know, it costs nothing to follow the free program outlined at the McDougall Health and Medical Center website.
    It took me 16mos to go from 190lbs on the SAD to 117lbs (at 66yrs old, 5'7") and I have maintained that weight since Jan 2020 with no effort just by eating WFPB.
    Continued success in your interview projects, Chef AJ! And thank you for all your efforts on our behalf.

    Fasting is an ancient practice that both sage, prophets, leaders & just common folks practiced long before today's supposed experts discovered it.
    For nearly 30 years I've known about fasting, as far as dry spiritual fasting for 76 hours, without understanding of the physical mechanism that was going on inside.
    As far as I'm concerned, while I do believe it's great some with training in fasting can be beneficial in educating people on exactly what's going on during a fast, I find it disingenuous to push going to centers & needing "paid" supervisors to oversee & monitor one to do what is absolutely free & can be done safely wherever they please, once they understand the mechanism. Centers are just good to get away from distraction & stay focus on fasting but anyone with strong will power to finish what they start don't need to go nor consult with "the experts".

    No coffee? Let me tell ya. After I began sticking to getting more than 60% of my calories from starch, and basically all other calories from non-starchy vegetables and just a couple pieces of fruit per day ( just a piece to supercharge my exercise) AND drinking this Pot Liquor with a couple teabags and no added salt, oil or sugar, the coffee just kind of got PUSHED OUT. I spent two days going through the day with my black coffee sitting in front of me. I took a sip and just let it sit there. The sip felt forced. I didn’t want it. It just worked itself out of my life on its own.
    I bought a Bella electric water boiler and I guess I just drink tea now. Pretty great. But 100% adherence isn’t an issue for me. Try your best - shocking things will happen. You’ll be surprised. Keep trying. Stay on it, as T. Colin Campbell says 🙇🏻‍♂️

    As an off and on vegan since Drs. McDougall's and Ornish's first books, I really admire what Dr. Goldhamer has been doing. But I am disappointed that he has never taken the time to learn about monk fruit and other such sweeteners. I understand that his program is to completely lose your taste for those sweet types of addictions. But there are those of us with incurable sweet tooths that can benefit tremendously from the use of the sweeteners while remaining on an SOS plant-based diet. If the success rate of his diet and his program at Trunorth really exceeds 30%, it could be even higher if he allowed for people to enjoy some kind of sweets that are healthy. From listening to this interview, I assume that his response would be that his diet is just not for everybody. But why not help a few more people by learning about these sweeteners and giving people the information on how to use them properly?

      People who have never had an infection are the healthiest people. Almost every chronic illness in existence has been found to be caused by infections, including common ones like autoimmune-type diabetes and dementia. Most cancers too, can be triggered by viruses, and some cancers are EXCLUSIVELY caused by later activation of latent viruses that we are all demanded to catch at school, like the hundreds-of-diseases-causing Epstein-Barr virus. Some VERY COMMONLY CAUGHT "not serious" airborne viruses that "only give you a cold or conjunctivitis" are proven to make you fat by disrupting all the same things that a processed diet also disrupts.
      The only times being unvaccinated helps is when it stops you from being allowed to go to school, because schools are plague factories that bombard you with infections in the air. Forcing kids into crowded assembly halls to cough and breath on each other without even any windows open every single day for stupid disease-spreading "assemblies".
      No HEPA filters to clear these unnatural indoor spaces full of disgustingly germ-ridden air, spaces our immune systems did not evolve to deal with as we only had bacteria through our stomachs to fight, not airborne viruses as we were in small tribes instead of crowded cities full of extreme travel habits and never stepped foot in a building.
      HEPA filters and masks and living outdoors are the best ways to protect yourself from the disgustingly unhygienic air quality that has been normalised for a hundred years, if you aren't lucky enough to live alone in the woods away from chronic-illness-inducing airborne infections.

Then in 2015 I was told I was stupid to have quit salt because I should eat pink himalayan salt daily because it contains 56 minerals our food supply does not have and we are lacking this in our diet. A year later I was told Celtic sea salt was even beneficial because it contained 58 minerals we do not get in our diets that is so important. I am so confused salt important yes or Salt no. Omg! I love this guy! I just saw him for the first time on your Weight Loss Summit, AJ, and I needed more! So I went looking and now I’m subscribed to your channel. Dr. Alan Goldhamer is now in my top three with Dr. Joel Furhman, and Dr. Michael Gregor, and of course, all three are vegan, whole plant, SOS free. I love the more personal nature of Dr. Goldhamer. I have been lagging on removing all the salt, but I’m 64, and although I still have very low blood pressure, I would rather be ahead of the curve and I didn’t realize how bad salt could be until I heard Dr. Goldhamer on your Summit.
    I’ll respond here to something I just heard now in your interview, if I can help shed a bit of light on the sweetener issue. I add apple cider vinegar to my smoothies and I try to consume it before meals as it is a hepatic AMPK upregulator. I have reversed Diabetes and I’m trying to improve my A1c further from 5.3. The trouble I have with apple cider vinegar is, I hate sour and I have to sweeten it. I use a tiny bit of stevia or erythritol or monk fruit sweetener to counteract the sour and make the added apple cider vinegar palatable. I don’t know what the other person is trying to sweeten, but I don’t have to sweeten anything I eat except apple cider vinegar.

    I listen to RUclips while I exercise, but obviously only exercises where I'm relatively stationary like leg lifts or crunches. :-) I have been so lazy but this type of multitasking really makes it so motivation isn't such a big issue for me.

    I never used salt for years and I had low blood pressure. I started using Himalayan salt and my blood pressure regulated.
    If the only salt in your diet is a couple sprinkles into your food is that still bad a thing? 🤔

    • @CHEFAJ
      @CHEFAJ  2 года назад +1

      If you can handle it and your blood pressure is fine, it 's probably ok.
