I had the 1971 model - two door in metallic brown with a chamois colored roof, a 350 4 barrel carburetor and damn that car was fast and BIG! we put air shocks on it and jacked up the back, it looked so cool. It was my graduation present, I loved that car and its 8 track player!
This car is a beast with a 455 and it is a true fact going down a highway punch the ⛽gas pedal to the floor and keep it there and you can see the gas gage moving to empty.
My maternal grandfather had one of these in dark green. He sold it to my parents in 1977 (when I was 10), and they sold it in 1981. I never got to drive the car- the one car, in retrospect, that I wish I had- but I have fond memories of riding in it with both my grandparents & parents .... Streets of Queens, NY: 1971-73; Streets of LA: 1974-75; Streets of San Francisco Bay Area: 1976-77 (w/grandparents), 1977-81 (with parents). I remember thinking my parents’ 1968 Ford Galaxie (1968-77) was a big car, but side by side with the 1970 Buick LeSabre; when my grandparents came to visit, I remember at age 7 or 8, taking a tape measure outside to measure the width & length of both cars. I was amazed the Buick was even a little bit bigger- even though it was only by a few inches.
Had this exact same car and motor. Dint let someone tell you that 1970 Rivieras were the only big cars with this big motor their full of BS mine was a 455-4 barrel 370 Hp torque monster.

That big engine is definitely choked by that small single exhaust.
