The mpk is controlling the volca fm via midi through my laptop. Then to play the drums or to play the volca fm, I manually select in my daw (off screen) wich instrument I want the mpk to play.
Might be a bit too late to reply, but I just got a USB MIDI host (DoReMidi UMH-10) and use it to connect my USB MIDI keyboard to the Volca FM for some DAWless jamming. It works in a "plug-and-play" manner, the only "problem" was finding an adequate DIN to TRS MIDI cable for the FM :)
It is not connected directly to the volca. The volca is connected to the laptop daw, the akai is controlling the daw. So basically the the akai is controlling the volca through the daw by midi
Is there DAW you are using, how does the Akai mini power up?
How do you connect a usb midi keyboard to the volca? HOWWW?
I was looking into using the same set up and I'm guessing it's just a midi to usb converter since the MPK only has a usb port for MIDI

@@kidzxndtoyz I guess I won't be able to use it with my 8 track then.
