It is very cool how much they improved the combat compared to Space Marine 1. With the parry and execution shots they found a way to let us experience the speed and reflexes of an Astartes without slowing down the time like in SM1.
@@Pluto1v Btw fencing is way better than Balanced since Fencing (almost) completely removes parry recovery frames. This means you can parry multiple Majoris enemies who are all attacking you at the same time. With a fencing weapons you can parry attacks forever as long as you keep clicking the button.
I roughly learned how to parry what by throwing myself into a pack of a million tyranids and big boys, so I was constantly at a struggle to keep myself up by parrying a small guy to replenish my shield and attack the bug boys again and parry them
One other thing to note is the melee weapon attack combos. Each weapon has different combos that can push back crowds or break blocks. I wish they’d put the combos on the weapon stat page so you can see each one, instead of having to look while in game
I need an explanation of how to parry the whip combo after his initial hit. Get snuck with a blue attack and then all of a sudden I went from 2 bars of armor + max hp to dying in 1 more hit
If you haven’t figured it out yet, you don’t need an attack to have a blue glow to parry it, everything can be parried so just wait for the second hit then get your gun strike
I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who actually tried the blocking swords. YOU CAN STILL PARRY THE SMALLER LEAPING ENEMIES FOR THOSE EASY EXECUTIONS. ALSO they do more damage so you can get to executions on larger targets before they ever get the chance to parry. Not everyone wants to rely on parrying so much.
I like fencing when playing with melta spammers because they disrupt every melee and encounter I engage in (which I need to restore my armor) so I end up needing the extra frames for the parry window to catch late attacks
Why would you ever want to just block it and not parry it? There’s nothing to gain. Might as well just dodge, especially when they’re just gonna smack you with a follow up shot
no weapon has anything that makes up for not having fencing, even if you're good at the parry windows it's nice to have some breathing room and I don't think there's any balanced weapon that has a stat difference you'll notice in moment to moment gameplay. Blocking weapons are just trash.
Just knowing the difference is good enough, One of vanguards best knives has amazing attack speed but balance defense, but vanguard has a perk to increase parry window, but the knife as a choice only works if you have aoe or high magazine count. Melee weapons like a power fist would use the fencing party as an attack vs minoris
This is a great video!! I may stupid for asking this but what is that training room you are in? I see it in a lot of videos but idk where to find the option for it.
I’d call it a block more than a parry. Either way the stun lock from a successful block is the stupidest thing. In what situation would blocking an attack ever be better than parrying and gunstriking it? Block weapons are useless. They’re just there to fake gameplay variety
Having a medic in that game that could as often as getting our abilities back heal teammates would ruin the flow of the game by reducing the risk factor of doing combat
Can anyone tell me what the yellow-to-red bar with skulls is? I notice that melee weapons are the only ones with this bar, and I can't find any info on it.
I'm having problems with timing after playing hours with the other classes and then trying bulwark,it makes you feel you're playing a whole different game
Wbu on the ruthless difficulty when you’re getting absolutely swarm by the enemies with the bone sword and whip, why can they knock you out of a perfect parry or a quick shot. Then to top it off they all start swinging at once, man idk can you parry and dodge at the same exact time lmao
Matchmaking is kinda crazy rn. You can end up in a lobby that farms wins, and get like a 10 victory streak, then you go to another and your team is staring at walls and running everywhere except the obj.
I hated that there is inconsistencies between the minors and majors and the game doesn’t tell you. When you see the blue minors the animation is triggered but majors you have to watch and time the blue does nothing.
This is because minoris enemies are made really easy to parry, just like you said. Majoris and Extremis enemies are where you need to actually time your parries since they are the bigger threat.
The very concept of having to do multiple timed parries in a row against one common enemy type to avoid taking damage in a HORDE shooter is so stupid a design choice it almost boggles the mind. Then again this game is FULL of extremely questionable design choices that make you question if these devs have ever actually played a horde shooter so par for the course I suppose.
I dont really see how people struggle. Even with the block weapons you can still parry. If you see an enemy jumping at you just tap the button. Fencing is best for this
I hope they add a free training mode at some point. Practise makes perfect.
Just do trials for each character, that's training mode for all kinds of uses
They said they are doing that at some point. Maybe the October patch.
Uhm they just added a sparring area in the Battle Barge
Yeah but you need actual players to use it.
Do trials
It is very cool how much they improved the combat compared to Space Marine 1. With the parry and execution shots they found a way to let us experience the speed and reflexes of an Astartes without slowing down the time like in SM1.

I had no idea block completely removes parry.... this made my gameplay experience so much better! Thanks!
It makes it so your parries don't give gun strikes.
The codex is pleased with this information
I didn't knbow about stuff like balanced and fencing, thanks for the knowledge.
np check out the rest of the channel i got other info videos explaining more

Blocking weapons only purpose is to make this game feel like there’s more variety to the weapons than there really is
I think blocking weapons are supposed to give you the best stats but no parry which is stupid.

i find the chain sword to be worth it for +5 dmg but thats about it
@@Pluto1vwhat does that mean though lmao 14 light attacks to kill 1 major vs. 15 lights?
Block hammer is the best hammer
Plus the extra wiggle room means that if your lagging a wee bit you can still parry

But what is the que for when I should parry, is it anything that hits the weapon in the blocking stance or is it as it is swinging back out?
For the relic their chainsword I prefer the fencing because you lose so much speed with balanced. I also can’t find a way to enjoy the power sword tbh
Bro the power sword is the goat

Bulwark is the closest to being a medic with the armor regen AoE, but yeah, a medic class feels needed. Especially in PvP.

The armour looks so sweet, but you gotta grind ao much and theres so little variation of map and game modes to keep my interested enough to grind 😅
To parry a big guy with a blue circle do you hit the perry as soon as it comes up or do you wait till they attack
Best explanation 👊🏼

on higher difficulties you will have to parry multiply times before you can get the parry off its all about distance.
The only melee i dont understand in this game is PvP melee
it kind of works only really allowing you to block i can make a short on this if people would like it.
