Watching Alicia with her dad makes me happy. I'm 37 now and I'm parentless. I lost my mom when I was six and I just lost my dad. So watching Alicia making peace with her dad makes me happy. She is one good daughter.
He regrets it for many reasons. She accomplished so much success on her own without his contributions to her life. He is not able to take any credit for her success. He was blessed with such a special daughter that he ignored most of her life. Unlike him, Alicia opened her heart to him, something he could not reciprocate to his own father. In spite of it all, God gave both of them a chance to connect & heal.
I love how all she wants is be a happy woman and finds ways to do that without living all the past strugles even living then in her heart. She is a poetry

Thank you, when he admits. Mine tried to come back last year and said I must stop calling my grandpa "dad"...lol he wasn't 24hr back. And refused to admit his mistakes. I cut him off AGAIN. I'm done.

So thank you for living the dream and the nightmare. Taking the steps to return home to yourself. Thank you my strong sister for all of your truths. If I ever grow up, I hope to be like you. To be able to go deep. Love, Brittany Davis
I've always admired Alicia, but never personally followed her. She's in a class of her own, and I do pick up on her spirit of realness and how important it is to be genuine, or just to be yourself. When I saw her a few years ago where she decided to not wear makeup anymore, that showed me that she was tapping more into being her raw self. Alicia, thanks for sharing who you're privately and personally. I feel people love you more when they can see you're human and go through like everyone else. I love your relationship with your husband and , it shows no one is trying to control who you are. Again, this is my first time following Alicia Keys, and I am glad I did, she's marvelous, and even more, she's a Nubian Queen. May GOD forever bless your marriage, your family, your friends, your followers, and your career. 🙏❤️🙏

"I...SHINE...AT FULL WATTAGE!" I read somewhere, that some people come into your life for a season, a reason, or a lifetime. Growth can give us a sense of freedom. A level of understanding can allow us to forgive. This conversation appeared to have given a sense of peace. I just watched a blessing unfold.
I paused the video just as she lit her candle, closed her eyes and said, "I shine, at full, wattage. I. SHINE. At full, wattage." Brought me to tears. Crazy how hard we can be on ourselves but if we, not only knew this, but felt it about ourselves... what a full life to live. And such true words to live by.
@@ladyatilano40 I definitely felt chills at that moment. Makes you wonder what I could have already achieved at this point had I only knew that. Alicia is so grounded and wise.
I saw my biological person a few times growing up. Had a rough life growing up with a single Mom whom herself had been abused as a child so she never really figured life out. For the sake of myself after my children were grown I decided to try and find him and I did. I First thing I said was” wait please don’t hang up”. I just wanted you to know that I forgive you and I truly hope hope that you have a peaceful life”. We talked for about 5 minutes in which he had said” let’s meet for breakfast”. Two weeks later he cancelled and said” I don’t think he could have a relationship with me because he knew he would just hurt me. So it’s good to forgive and Alicia you and your Father are better for it. I have not talked with him since. He only lives 40 minutes away from me always has been that close. Thanks for sharing it will encourage many others to try and maybe show Fathers that just because the didn’t do what they should of there’s always a chance to make it up some of the way if they want to.
I can relate to that single mother raising me and my siblings and one thing I learned in my 50 years on this earth is no matter what you have achieved in your life it still hurts when you think back on why your dad left the family and all the hardships you watched your mother went through to protect her kids and hustle to feed them,I can tell you it made me fearful of being a father I had this crazy feeling that I would follow in my father's footsteps and there was no way in hell I was going to repeat that cycle, fast forward to present and I have 5 kids of my own and I will never abandon them plus I am about to be a grandfather can't wait for the day when that baby is born

My dad and I are trying to build a relationship as well. Alicia made me realize it is normal to still feel pain behind my father's absence even though we are in a good place.
My dad just reached out to me in my 30s. Phone convos only because he's essentially a stranger and I am so guarded from the hurt of his absence. I tried so hard but have come to the conclusion he isn't mature enough emotionally for the relationship he wants with me. It's heartbreaking. Alicia's dad seems like he's doing the work and I'm happy for her.
A friend of mine has a father who lives right next door to him. They are separated by a fence yet they never had a relationship at all. He's just another OG from the block. My friend cries every now and then when he's drunk. It's unbelievable
They are fortunate that they have been blessed to have this time to get to know each other...so many don't get this opportunity. ..Alicia is a beautiful, talented and spiritual woman. Her father is lucky that she is so gracious and forgiving...

I felt it when you said "I met him and made him my friend" or something around that... in reference to your father. I had the same dad experience, I hope I will see it from this angle and pull away from that "daddy absent drama" and see him as a friend now. Oh I cannot wait for a song you would do about Daddys and Daughters- the missing piece! "Raise a man" was one hell of a song! You inspire me Alicia Keys. Love from a Nigerian girl to you.
It’s crazy, I grew up literally, on Alicia. Like, A Minor came out when I was a 6. And now at 25, I feel like I’m finally learning about so much of that time.
She's very humble and her journey of life, led her to her own identity.. She's such a vibe and I love who she has become. Her video journals are life teaching!!!❤🙏🏽She also looks like him..
I LOVE her spirit! I listen and watch a woman that looks like me and has had similar experiences. If you paid attention the woman overall said, she has an old soul. We've been here before and are manifested into a new body with the experiences we've had from the past. I always loved her and understand I, ME 'admire' nobody. Alicia YOU ARE AN OUTSTANDING MANIFESTATION of manifesting!!
I would love to see Alicia play Lena Horne in a bio pic movie. It's like Lena Horne reincarnated. Her dad has such beautiful skin, he doesn't look older at all. It's like she's helping him heal. She learned to make peace throughout her life.

Oh my goodness Alicia Keys, you have been one of the few artists that I have followed since I was a little girl living in Germany. It is because you are an amazingly whole woman that I, and others can relate to in many ways. Thank you for sharing another part of yourself with us, this is much cherished. Continue to shine at full Wattage, I really try to follow that in my life. 💖
Thank you for always being you Alicia ... I am so grateful that there a celebrity in this world who my daughter can look to and see pure kindness and positivity and light giver that can be inspired by ... Thank you ...
*Thank you for making this Alicia.* I’ve always been a fan of your music because of the human connection. This takes that to the next level. Very brave and authentic.
This is absolutely beautiful! You ALL are ENOUGH! We may always have to deal with a limp in life and that's OK, as long as we don't allow it to paralyze us. Dream BIG, create your own rules and walk to the beat of your own drums. Never follow the masses, follow your heart but always allow God to lead you! You are enough friends!!
This touched me so deeply! I’m laying here in tears. Life has a way of taking our power away but I love how she has taken her power back and now lives it and it shows. Her and her Dad connecting later in life is a true blessing. I love her soul. It’s absolutely BEAUTIFUL 😍
Am I the only one crying here? This session/part 2 is DEEP--> it’s most certainly triggered a plethora of weighted memories that’ve kept me drowning in silence for so damn long~ “I chose Keys, because I play the keys, obviously…but keys open doors, & I wanted to open EVERY door…” 💥💪🏼
This was so powerful. You always imagine how the rich and famous are so different from us. That they live a glamorous, happy and fulfilling life. But they live a life very much like every day average people. Only they’re life is played out for millions and millions of people to watch, while we do the same but only in our small circle of family and friends. I respect Alicia so much for this segment, because I am living the same journey with my father and how my mother raised me alone. And I’m quite sure that many people have experienced the same thing. Thanks 🙏🏾 for sharing this.
Butterflies is one of my favorite songs and her explanation of you being an old soul was exactly how I felt when I heard it and held it in total rotation. My mother always said Alicia was older beyond her years at like, 16 years old when I was listening to her
I feel like this is the first time she’s really been THIS open about her personal life. I’m grateful to her for this level of vulnerability because so much healing happens when we witness other people’s healing 🥺
I really LOVE the cinematography and editing in these videos!!! I also appreciate the richness of the conversations. Who produced this? They did an awesome job.
Her house is incredible. When I seen the pics when they first bought it I thought there was no way it could be turned into a family “home” but they did!! It’s Jaw dropping 🤩
“Keys open doors” , so honest and raw here. The strength you have to reach out and reconnect with your dad comes from a holy place and a pure heart. 💜 Alicia’s light shines so bright.
This was so real, raw and beautiful. It made me turn inward and acknowledge my mistakes and faults throughout life. Thank you for such a loving and insightful look inside your life. ❤
Sorry about your dad that he wasn’t there at the earlier stages of your life. It takes two to make love and then have a baby and it should be 2 raising the child. I can definitely relate because my mom wasn’t there a lot in my life also. Thank u for sharing your story love it was nice to hear u open up Alicia Keys I appreciate u ! ❤️

I adore Alicia keys, been listening to her since I was in elementary school. To this day she's so inspirational, she's famous and stopped wearing make up, still beautiful too! Appreciate her honesty in the music industry as well
Alicia you good…because I didn’t bother after 18! My Dad missed out on everything with me! He’s gone now. I guess the boys take it harder because we watch our mothers struggle and juggle raising us. I forgive him….you’re a class act for this.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Having grown up listening to your music and having interpreted it in my own way, it's crazy when I finally get to hear you tell the story behind your songs and just your life. No longer putting you on a pedestal that you never asked to be placed on but seeing you as an equal, a human being. That's beautiful. Thank you for sharing yourself with us 😊.
It made me cry tears of ( JOY ) to see and understand the connection between your father and yourself and also ( SMILE ) at how your ( PARENTS ) formed your name ❣️
This is a perfect example of being true to yourselves, mental strength over falling for a defeated attitude, perseverance always through life disappointments. People let's follow this great example in our own lives. Thanks you Alicia for sharing this with us, love you and your family🤗🤗🌎💒
My prayer for A Keys is that she continues in her authenticity; accepting and embracing the Divine path that has been destined for her. My soul is enriched witnessing, in this clip, her relationship with her dad being repaired in spite of the past. So many are bound by the negatives of their past and cannot get beyond it. I also appreciate her candor about Crucial. It was heartwarming! I pray that he knows that she respects and honors his contribution to her career and that he harbors no resentment toward her. I’ve always admired A Keys as an upstanding artist. And I don’t champion many artist. But Alicia has always had a certain confidence, modesty, spirituality and self-respect that, in my opinion, is applaudable. Oh yea…and congrats on becoming “independent!”
I feel so connected to you Alicia, we have similar experiences and similar fears. The Blessing that we are both Meditators and a way of fueling our realities as to what we want is a Gift. Alicia is so in touch with her feelings and amazingly, intellectually stimulating. If I were a much younger man she would be completely out of my league. This is grown folks “stuff.”
I'm happy that she reconnected with her father in this sincere way. Creating that new bridge brings so much healing. I wish them all the best on their healing and growth.
I'm sooo emotional Alicia! My dad was dying of stage 4 cancer in 2011 and I wanted to do a documentary like this with my dad and someone discouraged me from the idea. I regret not being strong enough to do it anyway. I hate that I don't have that memory on video.

I love how relatable you are Alicia. You say so many things that I have said verbatim in my diary; especially when it comes to life and dealing with people. You have to stay vigilant; like seriously! A sad truth or you will get played at every turn, and I haven't even done a fraction of the things you have. Your voice sounds more beautiful every year and I truly think it is because you are finding and accepting yourself and realizing your power to make things happen and believing in your connection to music and your ability to forgive and to move on. I got the feels when you mentioned "over everything" I totally get it. Overperforming, overdoing, overaccepting, overhelping, over going out of my way, over EVERYTHING! I've done it. And it eventually means nothing to the people who seem to be thankful for it. I don't do that anymore. Moving on is something that can chain people for many years and never even know it! "Keys, because keys open doors" I often wondered how you got the name. I always said it had to be much more meaningful than just she plays the piano extraordinarily well. Now I know :) Thank you :D
I’m so glad you and your father had this conversation and continue to do so.. it’s a process. 💜 Thank you for your vulnerability and for sharing this extremely personal journey with us. 🙏🏿
I'm happy for her. I understand her pain and emptiness while growing up. Even though she did well without him, money and success didn't fill that void. I'm happy she's filling it now.
“He was willing to be invisible for me” not “I don’t think he was jealous of me”. 👑🙏🏾🕊⚓️🐉🔥 That’s a very grown woman mature statement right there. Greater insight into the hearts of men.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 love u, Alicia Keys!
I love your videos! The one with Swizz makes me believe love like that does exist and we’re all deserving. This one really hit home, specifically the talk with your dad, it had me in tears. I tried to have the same conversation with my father and his response was I was destined for this life, I was destined to have parents that were addicts. I told him that we can’t change the past, accountability could have kept us moving forward. Thank you for your videos and letting us in ♥️
It's an Amazing background. God rewarded your mother with your talent. May Alicia Augello Cook's be more and more blessed. She raised an exceptional WOMAN
Forgiveness is a powerful and courageous gift that we bless ourselves with. I pray that those pieces in your heart and your father’s heart is made whole. Your art is a healing for many of us.🙏🏽
Alicia's skin though, omg! 😍😍😍 She is beautiful inside out. She's such a pure, genuine soul. She's well-known yet very humble and calm. She's powerful & so classy. She's one in a million. I have never heard her involved in any drama or anything, she always focused in her own lane. She follows no one. She keeps looking younger the older she gets. I'm so sorry that her dad wasnt part of her life growing up, he really missed out, it's something that he wiñl always live to regret, but I am happy that they were able to talk about it & atleast try to move forward and make the best of what's left. I love Alicia Keys, she's such a sweetheart! She's a true aquarius like myself. Keep it up Alicia!! ☺️💛❤️☺️
Until now, it was always "speculated" that Krucial Keys was a couple... I love how she has honoured her relationship with him in this piece, even if things didn't work out, when it was good, it was good 🎵🎵👌🏾👌🏾❤❤
You encourage me to have a better relationship with my father…❤️ I never knew how but now I have to develop vulnerability. I have to open up. I don’t know why I’m so ashamed of it. But I know now if I want a better relationship with him, that’s the first step. Put my pride aside.
I'm in literal tears on my way home from Upstate... because I am going through this current stage where I risk it all and do unhealthy things to push the barrier because of the what ifs... and I am out here going from event to event putting in my all

Beautiful story it is. I reconnected with my Dad after 30 years apart just last year. Raised by a single Mom...she passed away but before her death she said make peace with your Dad. Not an easy road ..but forgiveness is everything! Peace is everything!, Thanks for Sharing Alicia!!!
Alicia. I love this series and I love your story telling. I believe every child gets to the point of wanting to interview their parents to answer the why's. I did the same, but the responses pushed me away even further. See what my parents lack is accountability on both sides. It was painful to know that even being their daughter, that i was still a nobody to both. They both developed lives without me and I Became an outcast in both homes. Like u, spent a long time as a people pleaser in fear of people leaving me. But it never works does it. What good is it to sacrifice ya feelings just to not be alone? I remember meeting the little boy who was in your video falling. Made me think of how we are all connected and u never know who u can meet that may change ya life or perspective. But first ones perspective of self has to change to attract what's healthy. I love the concept of ya name. Glad u are getting your happy ending sis. Good job for going thru the pain instead of running from it.
I love all of the music that I have heard you do!! Your gift of music travels everywhere all of the time at once. To hear you record hymns, spirituals and gospel music, I believe, would be mind-blowing, soul stirring and spirit lifting for the world to receive. When I hear your voice in song, I hear your heart, breath and being. May God continue to stretch and use you. Sit down in the Lord, as he stands up in you. I have never heard & seen you perform live. I don't know that I ever will. I am grateful for your life; thankful that you are. Praying that joy, love and peace are forever covering & keeping you, your children, husband and family. Don't stop. Keep movie g & doing your thing, pleeze!!!
Alicia Keys Truth about her father, reminds me about Mariah Carey’s story with her father. Both stories started rough but ended up being such a beautiful potrait
Thank you for sharing these painful part of your life with us. Alicia Keys in this life all of us are not perfect but at the end there is reconciliation and forgiveness. Thank you for showing to the world that despite that your dad was not present in your formative years you turn out the loving person. Thanks to God and your mom. I will share my story my mom died at age 4 ..My dad molested me at age 5 and give me away abandoned me to my grandma. Me and my dad did not have the kind of relationship that you have with your dad now because I went to America and did not come back home yet . Yet when my dad died I totally forgive him. I should have confronted him while he was still alive why he was not in my life but my heart was full of pain to do that . Your dad is still alive have that chance to reconcile and forgive the painful past. Most of the time we need God to be beside us all of the time and we need to truly love ourselves. God loves you unconditionally. No matter your past hurt . In the eyes of God you are worthy you are valuable you are special one of a kind and now God is smiling at you and proud of you for what you have done with your life especially in forgiving and talking and loving your father unconditionally. Proud of you for your sharing this. When you forgive and reconcile with the person that hurt you the most you are freeing yourself with the grudges that will eat the soul slowly . By forgiving you let go of the past hurt so you could heal and be happy . Let go.let God.
I agree with Alicia when she said about her father that "there's always those pieces, those cracks that wants to understand why he left" I'm 34 my father left when I was 2, I met him when I was 11 and he unfortunately died when I was 22. We didn't have much time to have a father daughter relationship. I struggled more with him after my mom passed away, I expected him to be more present but he wasn't. I struggle with questions I have every day unfortunately he's not here to answer. Now I have to forgive him wich is the difficult part. Forgiving someone who did not take accountability of his actions.
I'm gonna keep this one short cuz u know I can write a book. This particular one touched me. You asked ur dad any regrets just the look in ur eyes I could see sadness, tears maybe wanting to come but what he said(my opinion) was what you wanted him to say. Keys do open doors but have to be careful which door to choose, sounds like u chose the right ones. So happy you found out ppl don't make you. All I can say is your so relatable--especially ur mom being your mom & dad! TY for ur honesty and inner thoughts. Totally awesome person you are. TY for the music u make and TY for being you🎹🎵💯

This is a much needed interview/message for people to see. This is a blessing. My father passed on when I was four, but there have been a strain in my relationship with my mom here recently. It primarily started when she noticed that I was becoming my own, if you will, and she didn't like that. That's why the spirit of the Lord kept bringing this interview to my attention. I'm sure. Because He's taking me on a new journey that involves me coming into myself to the fullest. And I'm going to have to fully pull away from my mom, my old self, family, and whoever else to embark on this journey in the way that He intend me too, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. And I'm not mad at it/that, and with everything in me, I'm trying not to be afraid of it. And with everything in me I'm trying to do everything that I can to embrace it, stay focused, and to push pass it, and I advice you all to do the same. Because your life depends on it and it's necessary, in more ways then one. It wasn't by chance, coincidence, random, or mistake, that this video found you, and that you saw/seeing this comment. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. I love you all. I pray, speak, and hope for the best for you all, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. And I pray that you all get to truly find Him, and know Him, and keep Him for yourself, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. And I'm talking about the real, genuine, true, authentic version of Him. Not the watered down, broken, and damage version of Him. All glory belong to God. He's worthy to be praised. Worthy as the blood of the lamb, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Worthy as the blood of the lamb, and worthy to be praised. All glory, honor, and praises/praise belong to Him and Him alone, and nobody and nothing else. Lord we bless your name.
Her face when he said “my relationship with you. Her eyes changed and said everything. Like it’s nice to hear, I want to hear that, but it doesn’t mean anything like if your were actually there would mean. - her face while he’s talking looks like a polite desire to make that relationship work, while there’s still doubt and hurt there 🥺 - powerfully inspiring beautiful woman.

The maturity it takes to forgive someone who has caused you so much pain, you’re an exceptional women Alicia
It definitely takes a lot
I saw my biological person a few times growing up. Had a rough life growing up with a single Mom whom herself had been abused as a child so she never really figured life out. For the sake of myself after my children were grown I decided to try and find him and I did. I
First thing I said was” wait please don’t hang up”.

Wishing you well 🙌🏾
A friend of mine has a father who lives right next door to him. They are separated by a fence yet they never had a relationship at all. He's just another OG from the block. My friend cries every now and then when he's drunk. It's unbelievable
So passionate to see Alicia and her Father connect. My heart weeps inside not tears of pain but joy to hear they’re at a place of healing💜💜💜

She has a heart of gold! She's very deep! Far more than I imagined! God bless her!
I would love to see Alicia play Lena Horne in a bio pic movie. It's like Lena Horne reincarnated. Her dad has such beautiful skin, he doesn't look older at all. It's like she's helping him heal. She learned to make peace throughout her life.

This was so powerful. You always imagine how the rich and famous are so different from us. That they live a glamorous, happy and fulfilling life. But they live a life very much like every day average people. Only they’re life is played out for millions and millions of people to watch, while we do the same but only in our small circle of family and friends.

Alicia. I love this series and I love your story telling. I believe every child gets to the point of wanting to interview their parents to answer the why's.
