The AI in The Reaper is curious, it can be good or bad at the moment. For example, if you use Makarakarn, it will start spamming Megidolaon because it's the only way he can hit you. If not, he tries to find Joker's weakness, but if the Persona doesn't have a weakness, he will attack your allies while trying to Insta-kill you. And then he can use the break skills which basically are a waste of his turn
p3: *running around in tartarus, not knowing what will happen, hears chains, sees reaper * oh fuck! run! stairs, stairs, stairs!! p4: *trying to overcome the reaper trauma. nothing appears. hears chains * fuck! run! *is after 3 p4 runs spoiled with the fact, that the reaper sits in a chest and cant come out, laughs while hearing the rattling * p5: *reads the message, that the reaper spawns like in p3, cries *

The game actually tells you only that you shouldn't stay too long because something bad may happen. It doesn't tell you as such that the reaper will chase you down and brings to an optional fight. So it's kind of a secret :p

Oh that happened while I was video chatting with my friend, a fellow persona fan. I think that’s the only time he ever saw me almost cry in fear. Lol, I was just in the beginning of the game so there was no way I could’ve gone against the reaper.
If you want to kill reaper at low levels without using the flu exploit, magatama are seriously the way to go. They will ALWAYS do 150 damage, even when your strongest attacks can only hit him for 10-20. If you can survive his attacks for long enough to chuck a couple of dozen his way, you'll gain like 10 levels for your trouble. Also, use Tetraja. He doesn't punish it like the reflect magics and it will stop your entire party getting randomly instakilled all on the same turn.

from one of the older persona titles there was a psychopath coincidentally called "Joker" who wore a bag on his head. he died after taking a bullet through the eye. coincidentally, all titles after that one had the reaper, who wore a bag over its head similar to how the psycho joker from the older titles wore it. Many theorize the reaper is that joker's shadow, and when he died he became the reaper. so technically this is old joker vs new joker.

Here's 2 good tips: Fight him during Flu Season to have it kill itself in despair. Let it ambush you. It will only have one action if it ambushes you and if it doesn't have despair during flu season, retreat and get ambushed again until it gets despair and you win.

Damn, I haven't watched all this but can you get the Reaper Persona? Also does your party member's Personas change appearance alongside getting them stronger or can they also use more than 1 later in the game? I'm not far into it, halfway through the 2nd Palace(The Artist) but keep going back to my new run of Dark Souls 3 since all the DLC is out so it's been hard to play Persona for longer than 5m before going back to DS. I just finished my NG+ with DS3 so later I'm going to try and go back to Persona. I love JRPG's though this is the only Persona I've played and it's totally different than the other JRPG's I've played so I'm hoping that it picks up soon.

In the clinic there's sp adhesive 1 2 and 3. i think you need a a certain confidant level for Takumi i think its rank 5. i'd recommend you get her to rank 7 for the discount. sp adhesive 3 gives 7 sp

You can fight him as many times as you want. Once you beat him once, you just have to leave that floor of Mementos. Don't move for like 5 minutes and he'll respawn.

You can make the fight somewhat easier if you let the Reaper ambush you. If he does that, he will only get 1 turn instead of 2.

around what levels are you in this? I jus happened to jump the reaper not knowing who he was until the fight and ran off because of how tough he is if you encounter him too early.
Also, if you love uaing debuffs so much, I recommend using the persona called trumpeteer, which gets the ability debilitate.

The SP was because they equipped an accessory you can buy at Takemi's clinic, and the HP was due to a persona's automatic skill

Damn, I haven't watched all this but can you get the Reaper Persona? Also does your party member's Personas change appearance alongside getting them stronger or can they also use more than 1 later in the game? I'm not far into it, halfway through the 2nd Palace(The Artist) but keep going back to my new run of Dark Souls 3 since all the DLC is out so it's been hard to play Persona for longer than 5m before going back to DS. I just finished my NG+ with DS3 so later I'm going to try and go back to Persona. I love JRPG's though this is the only Persona I've played and it's totally different than the other JRPG's I've played so I'm hoping that it picks up soon.
Fox Die if you get their confidant rank to 10 then they get a "Second awakening" which just makes a new persona for them with all the moves from the original.

In the clinic there's sp adhesive 1 2 and 3. i think you need a a certain confidant level for Takumi i think its rank 5. i'd recommend you get her to rank 7 for the discount. sp adhesive 3 gives 7 sp

I love how they have him in every game....although in this version he looked like something out of a silent hill game....or a resident evil game......they seem to keep the same design they just make him look freakier and freakier each incarnation

You need to be still for 2 minutes.

You can fight him as many times as you want. Once you beat him once, you just have to leave that floor of Mementos. Don't move for like 5 minutes and he'll respawn.
