***** Hehehe. I have only 2 now and wouldn't have any less. Having 2, each loaded with different types of film is perfecto. They aren't terribly hard to find. :)
Hey, this was pretty neat. I haven't shot film in a LONG time. I have all DSLR's now, and I just recently bought this off a friend for $60. He included the standard 50mm, a 28mm and an 80-200mm lens. I didn't know how much to pay for it. He asked for $45 dollars, but insisted on paying the $60. I can tell by the comments bellow that I may have gotten a deal on it. I just want to take it to a shutterbug and see if I can get it serviced.
What film (preferably colored) would you recommend I buy for this camera? I have this bad boy just hanging around my sister’s room. She’s never bothered with it, so I wanna use it. 🙂
Depends on how/where you're developing the film. The safest bet is to get C41 colour film; its the most common kind and most drug stores still carry it. Good luck!
Hi so I just got this camera, it was given to me by a family member. Your videos have helped a lot thanks! I was wondering about the batteries? I was looking at a manual and noticed that this particular camera takes Eveready S76E or Mallory MS76H. My question is what does that control? The shutter? And where do you get yours? As well as what happens if you don't know if the batteries work or not how to do check that? Thank you! I'm just beginning film so any other information or videos you believe would benefit me I would be super grateful!
the battery is only used for the light meter. the camera should still be able to take pictures without a battery, you will just have to figure out the exposure yourself.
Hi I’m just wondering why you put the piece of cardboard into the exposure place? I’ve had a roll of film come out completely blank recently and was wondering if not having that there could have been the issue?
hi.. i have a problem with this camera. have you ever experienced after shooting halfway suddenly the film leader slips off of the spool (therefore I can't advance the film anymore).
I could possibly be that the button on the bottom of the camera for unwinding the film is loose? This hasn't happened to me, and I don't have experience taking this camera apart or anything like that, so that's about all I can contribute I'm afraid.
I own one equip with 50 1.4. Infact this camera is my first real camera other than camera phone, i dont have even the DSLR. I have to say, i far learn alot than using digital. Nyum films~~
The film advance lever won't move any further when you reach the end of the roll; there will also probably be a number that displays which shot you're on.
Depends where you live. I live in Alberta, Canada and I'm able to pick it up at Londin Drugs; the American equivalent would be Long's Drugs I think. Most specialty camera stores will also have some kind of film.
This is only meant as a quick-start so you can get shooting right away. This manual I found online should help you out: www.butkus.org/chinon/pentax/pentax_mx/asahi_pentax_mx.pdf
Hands down, one of the finest photographic bits of joy ever manufactured. I own three. :)

Yes, I agree but I've owned 5 of them. Only 1 light meter still works... Electronics aren't the most reliable. Same goes for ME's
my mom just gifted me this. Used to be her camera in the 80s. This really helped!!! thx :)
you're welcome!
Wow so cool!! I just ordered one and it should be here tomorrow. Great tips
Very helpful, thanks a lot

I Play With Myself Sounds like a pretty decent deal, should be a lot of fun to shoot with!
1:12 start
Nice Video, thanks! I just bought an mx for myself, hope to see everything working once I got a battery and film loaded!
How do you like your MX? Thank you

Liam McConnell thank you! I’ll check out our local CVS.
I loved that camera since I had it in my hands the first time. I will get one soon and will be happier

if the light meter doesn't turn on that means the battery is dead, you should be able to but then from an electronic store
In an idea situation somewhere between 40-60 dollars. With the new seals though you have to pay a bit extra.
you're gonna have a blast. Enjoy!
This is so helpful!
glad you think so!
@Marcelo Quarantotto If you spend $100 or even a little more is ok. I will go the extra push and get a 1.4
Yeah since making this video I have gotten a few more film cameras, including a Canon fd 1.4
Hi I’m just wondering why you put the piece of cardboard into the exposure place? I’ve had a roll of film come out completely blank recently and was wondering if not having that there could have been the issue?
If you're referring to 1:43, that just to indicate what film is in the camera, not necesarry to function, just a reminder
@@liammmcc Do you keep this in that slot while you take pictures? Will it have any effect on the pictures?
@@ellapepper1 depends on if the camera has the slot, doesn't have any effect on pictures
What is the song of your video? I like that fusion
It's made from loops in logic studio 9 I think... I made this almost 8 years ago lol; no longer using apple software
Looking to buy one of these, ive found one but the winder cover is broken? anybody know if that will affect the use of the camera?
I can't be 100% sure that it will work from your description, probably it will just be obnoxious. Make sure you are getting a discounted price.
Can i use film with color or does it have to be kodak plus-x 125 px?
Yes you can use color film; you can use any kind of film as long as it is 35mm :)
Thanx! :)

How much would you say i should be willing to spend on one with new seals and the 50mm f/1.7?
Hi, maybe a stupid question but how do you know when you have used the last of the film?
The film advance lever won't move any further when you reach the end of the roll; there will also probably be a number that displays which shot you're on.
Thanks again
I have an inherited MX but the curtain is broken :(
tragic!
Where can I buy the film at? I have looked at amazon and can't seem to find it!!!!
