Honestly, they can sing anything and they're all amazing vocalists. Wow and BK are probably rappers because they're the most comfortable ones doing the rapping, but they could very well be vocalists all the time. And all their voices to me are pretty distinct. I could tell Jun's voice from day one with my eyes closed. It's got this rich R&B texture that I'd know anywhere. Donghun is incredible with the raspiness and distortion he can come up with. Chan is like crystal and I love his vibrato (not sure it's vibrato, sorry I'm not a vocal coach just a passionate listener; I mean what he does when his voice shakes with emotion). Wow is so versatile and, as much as I appreciate high notes, like you said, well-sustained low notes give me the shivers. BK can be so aggressive in the rapping and so inspired in the singing. These guys are truly ACES.
The English name of the album is _HJZM: The Butterfly Phantasy._ Unfortunately, there's only one version, but this photobook was what finally pushed me from fan to stan. Particularly the JunChan underwater photos and the photos in hanbok (traditional Korean clothing). I'm a total sucker for hanbok-inspired outfits. I'm enjoying watching your journey with A.C.E! Playing With Fire is so nostalgic to me. If you want, you can look up their fancams from busking and especially festivals (better search it in Korean), they were always having so much fun performing this song. It was like the last hype stage for them, and they gradually became more and more relaxed performing this song over the years, it's great. I think rather than "neutral", "chameleon" is a better word for Junhee's voice, because of how versatile he is! He knows exactly what he's doing, when it comes to many different genres. Sehyoon usually does stylistic choices the most, in both his singing and dancing. The members even say they are sometimes not sure if he's dancing to the same choreo as they all learned 5 minutes ago, lmao. He's a free soul. My husband and I are both vocalists, and have been Choice for over a year now, and we are in awe of A.C.E and so proud of them. We periodically just stop and say, "Chan is the ace of A.C.E." Not meaning that he is better than the rest, but the position he plays as the beloved maknae and his amazing skill set kind of make him "the glue" of the group. He was so young when he started out with his hyungs that he learned so much from them and in turn, has challenged them and they've learned from him. Oh, and of course, Donghun's net shirt with the cut-off sweatshirt over it was solely for showing us that he uses his diaphragm for excellent breath support, lol. Donghun photocard: I could tell from far away with it upside down--"sad eyes" and beautiful lips, ha ha. My experience is that any time you really try to keep a bias, the other ones show up and say, "Not today!" and go after you with renewed persistence. With most of the members in their mandatory service, I've recently started watching old content, and I should warn you that that is very dangerous. They are like the cutest litter of puppies when they are together, when they are not being sexy and in attack mode. The Vlives are so funny and sweet.

EXO is what started my journey into Kpop. I instantly fell in love with their vocals and it made me appreciate music again in a way I hadn't in a long time. When I decided to branch out further into the KPop world, I was nervous that I wouldn't find other groups that I connected with. Through some research and the help of Anitra, I found quite a few groups I love and one of them was A.C.E. Each member has their own unique sound, but their vocals blend so beautifully together. I didn't have a bias for the longest time, but Donghun's voice kept pulling at my heart strings. I am so happy that you have taken the time to explore A.C.E and share your journey with us. 35:19 It's true that Junhee's vocals aren't as versatile as some of the other members but he's come a very long way in terms of range vocal stability since debut. To put it into perspective, he used to struggle so much that during Take Me Higher era the rest of A.C.E made a bet that he would buy them fried chicken every time his voice broke on stage. Back then Donghun explained that Junhee's vocal range was limited due to past illness from when he was a trainee, and that he had to work diligently with a specialist vocal coach just to be able to sing a song as high pitched as Take Me Higher. I've always loved his unique tone though. During the Unit (survival show) he sang songs he wasn't explicitly credited for in the show but Choice could always recognise his voice because it sticks out XD

When I got into a.c.e they only had two songs but lots of covers and Stay was the one that made me fall in love with their vocals which is my weak spot. I’ve personally always preferred their Korean song covers. From predebut it’s basically all their song covers on their channel done on Sofar Sounds and the one on Danalmusic Live’s channel. They’re all just sitting around and singing in front of a small audience; it’s very relaxed. Post debut I have a fondness for all their covers on Idol Radio, It’s Live, and Singing Room. I really enjoyed the more detailed analysis of their vocals that you did during Youngblood. It’s so interesting! I also live vicariously through your unboxing because I’ve been staying strong and only been buying digital copies of songs from Kpop groups that I like. I’m totally the type to obsessively collect things so it’s a slippery slope I’ve been trying my damnedest to avoid.

20:06 I'm not as familiar with the original as I am with this cover, but I believe Wow didn't have either "boy" or "girl" at the end of that phrase, it was just the last character of the lyrics (based on what I can read of the lyrics subtitles), "별“' = "byeol" which just ended up sounding like "girl" also as you might've noticed already most of their albums have that thin, paper-backed style, only Cactus and Callin', and most recently Changer have been different, though still nothing crazy per say. at the very least I always appreciate that even when it is paper-back it's pretty good quality, and the images are high quality like their visuals are 😉 lastly fun fact! for the HJZM album, the backs of all the photocards form a kind of board game style design, and each member has their own row of photocards that all connect on the other side! and then each row connects together. so I have the whole row of Jun lol it was like at least 9 solo pcs per member, absolutely insane on the wallet but worth it ^^

I'm enjoying watching your journey with A.C.E! Playing With Fire is so nostalgic to me. If you want, you can look up their fancams from busking and especially festivals (better search it in Korean), they were always having so much fun performing this song. It was like the last hype stage for them, and they gradually became more and more relaxed performing this song over the years, it's great.
I think rather than "neutral", "chameleon" is a better word for Junhee's voice, because of how versatile he is! He knows exactly what he's doing, when it comes to many different genres.
Sehyoon usually does stylistic choices the most, in both his singing and dancing. The members even say they are sometimes not sure if he's dancing to the same choreo as they all learned 5 minutes ago, lmao. He's a free soul.

I'm convinced that A.C.E could take a song I hate and turn it into a song I love! My husband and I are both vocalists, and have been Choice for over a year now, and we are in awe of A.C.E and so proud of them. We periodically just stop and say, "Chan is the ace of A.C.E." Not meaning that he is better than the rest, but the position he plays as the beloved maknae and his amazing skill set kind of make him "the glue" of the group. He was so young when he started out with his hyungs that he learned so much from them and in turn, has challenged them and they've learned from him. Oh, and of course, Donghun's net shirt with the cut-off sweatshirt over it was solely for showing us that he uses his diaphragm for excellent breath support, lol. Donghun photocard: I could tell from far away with it upside down--"sad eyes" and beautiful lips, ha ha. My experience is that any time you really try to keep a bias, the other ones show up and say, "Not today!" and go after you with renewed persistence. With most of the members in their mandatory service, I've recently started watching old content, and I should warn you that that is very dangerous. They are like the cutest litter of puppies when they are together, when they are not being sexy and in attack mode. The Vlives are so funny and sweet.

EXO is what started my journey into Kpop. I instantly fell in love with their vocals and it made me appreciate music again in a way I hadn't in a long time. When I decided to branch out further into the KPop world, I was nervous that I wouldn't find other groups that I connected with. Through some research and the help of Anitra, I found quite a few groups I love and one of them was A.C.E. Each member has their own unique sound, but their vocals blend so beautifully together. I didn't have a bias for the longest time, but Donghun's voice kept pulling at my heart strings. I am so happy that you have taken the time to explore A.C.E and share your journey with us. 35:19 It's true that Junhee's vocals aren't as versatile as some of the other members but he's come a very long way in terms of range vocal stability since debut. To put it into perspective, he used to struggle so much that during Take Me Higher era the rest of A.C.E made a bet that he would buy them fried chicken every time his voice broke on stage. Back then Donghun explained that Junhee's vocal range was limited due to past illness from when he was a trainee, and that he had to work diligently with a specialist vocal coach just to be able to sing a song as high pitched as Take Me Higher.
I've always loved his unique tone though. During the Unit (survival show) he sang songs he wasn't explicitly credited for in the show but Choice could always recognise his voice because it sticks out XD

When I got into a.c.e they only had two songs but lots of covers and Stay was the one that made me fall in love with their vocals which is my weak spot. I’ve personally always preferred their Korean song covers. From predebut it’s basically all their song covers on their channel done on Sofar Sounds and the one on Danalmusic Live’s channel. They’re all just sitting around and singing in front of a small audience; it’s very relaxed.
Post debut I have a fondness for all their covers on Idol Radio, It’s Live, and Singing Room.
I really enjoyed the more detailed analysis of their vocals that you did during Youngblood. It’s so interesting! I also live vicariously through your unboxing because I’ve been staying strong and only been buying digital copies of songs from Kpop groups that I like. I’m totally the type to obsessively collect things so it’s a slippery slope I’ve been trying my damnedest to avoid.

20:06 I'm not as familiar with the original as I am with this cover, but I believe Wow didn't have either "boy" or "girl" at the end of that phrase, it was just the last character of the lyrics (based on what I can read of the lyrics subtitles), "별“' = "byeol" which just ended up sounding like "girl"
also as you might've noticed already most of their albums have that thin, paper-backed style, only Cactus and Callin', and most recently Changer have been different, though still nothing crazy per say. at the very least I always appreciate that even when it is paper-back it's pretty good quality, and the images are high quality like their visuals are 😉
lastly fun fact! for the HJZM album, the backs of all the photocards form a kind of board game style design, and each member has their own row of photocards that all connect on the other side! and then each row connects together. so I have the whole row of Jun lol it was like at least 9 solo pcs per member, absolutely insane on the wallet but worth it ^^
