I saw Deadpool & Wolverine opening weekend. The whole audience went crazy when Wesley Snipes walked out as Blade! It was great!!

Wesley Snipes is a hard act to follow. Not only is he a talented actor, but a trained stunt performer and martial artist. He knows how to look smooth on camera during complicated action scenes. More so than any actors in the MCU right now. It’s a rare talent that many people don’t appreciate or understand.
He has a physicality that very few actors can match. He didn’t need CGI, stunt doubles or camera tricks to compensate for a lack of skill unlike the rest of these guys do.
Be grateful that Blade movie was ever made. Without it, none of these other movies would have existed

I have a problem with this and it’s the same reason why Marvel had that bone headed idea to not recast TChalla. Snipes didn’t create Blade, he doesn’t own the character, he’s a custodian whose job is to do justice by the character and the when his time is over he can know that the next person will have something meaningful to hold onto. I don’t see white actors guarding or holding onto a character with all their might as if that’s all they’ll be know for long after the sun has set on their time playing said character. Considering there’s so few black characters who aren’t disposable side pieces in the MCU, if any for that matter, for Ryan Reynolds to write that Snipes line into the movie smacks of disrespect to Mahershala and is probably a reason he may feel the MCU keeps sabotaging script efforts or at the very least add to his frustrations. Marvel has to do a better job regarding their black characters and black A list talent.

I just don't get how stuff gets stuck in writing limbo. They have so much rich source material to pull from and on top of that, plenty of Marvel films with mediocre writing get greenlit. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather them cancel any scripts that aren't good, but it's just weird that they'd do that basically only for Blade.

Easily my most memorable movie experience of the last decade is Wesley walking out in deadpool slightly smirking and then the entire theater literally went nuts.

This is the biggest problem with Modern Media (Movies and Games) They announce things way to early, write a script and start filming then tell people, I get they want to build hype but building hype doesnt work when you cancel all the projects or you have to wait for years for something that turns out to be a 6/10
Is not even a problem, every movie and show that Marvel announced in 2019 has been Made, only Blade that failed, the rate is 90%, no problem at all.

Its not even the problem, the problem was the writing. They were gonna write a movie about a female lead role and they gonna pander about feminism and and lecture how Blade should embrace LGBTQ++ world around him. I shit you not thats what they were gonna do and the people that test screen it didn't liked it, I bet Mahershala Ali didn't liked it also and most, the directors that was assigned to it didn't also like the story so yeah, they already wasted millions on production but didn't got anywhere near completion so they just cancelled it .
They're playing the stock market, these announcements are for the shareholders. Tap-dancing for the shareholders is a way to bump up the stock price. Video game studios do this too, they lie about progress and show tech demos that never make it into the game.
If you really think about it the movie Sinners was practically what Blade should of been honestly...

Movies and comic books have had "messages" since they've existed. The only issue was Disney/Marvel trying to sideline Blade in his own movie.

The problem with the past decade of media is the lack of ANY nuance/metaphor/subtlety from Hollywood/AAA gaming studios. All of their "messages," have been blatant, in your face, 1-1 comparisons of what's been going on THAT YEAR. The messages in media past have been timeless stories you can apply to any thing/situation. When Blackton America is scolding polititions about calling people terrorists there's no subtlety. When Padro Pascal is a clear Trump allegory in Wonder woman, there is no subtlety. They been beating us over the head with, "Men stupid. Women do better," for over a decade now. It's why almost every Disney IP has failed since "The Message(tm)" has been forced down our throats, mercilessly

When Blade came out in '98, I had no idea it was a comic movie. I was a comic nerd, but I had never read DC or Marvel superhero stuff. I honestly thought that studios had noticed that the goth scene was kind of big in the '90s, and while it was niche, the aesthetic was appreciated by the mainstream. Between the movie adaptation of The Crow in 1994, the success of World of Darkness RPGs, and the general popularity of Anne Rice style supernatural Buffy the Vampire Slayer stuff, I figured that was the reason that the Blade movie had come out. And I loved it. But it was only after the MCU was well entrenched that I found out Blade was a comic book character.

They never started. At no point in time, did the clowns at Disney want to do a Blade film. If those clowns actually read comics, it would be easy for them to make a Blade film. He's a black vampire that does Martial Arts, that's not difficult to write, they never wanted to do it. We only got Wesley back because of Ryan Reynolds. David S Goyer who wrote the other Blade films, even stepped up to try and help these clowns. He said "I'll write the Blade movie for you." They said, we have it under control, as in, keep Blade on the shelf.🤦♂️

Feels like they’re having a harder time trying to figure out how he would fit into the bigger picture. Honestly, I think that’s been to Marvel’s detriment. There’s no way it’s this impossible to just make a movie about a guy who hunts vampires. Same for Ghost Rider. Can’t do Doctor Strange without making it a team up movie. Can’t do Captain Marvel without making it a team up movie. All these characters could have awesome stand alone stories (although I love the Marvels). Like the payoff of Infinity War and Endgame came after three standalone Iron Man movies, three standalone Thor Movies, where the connection to the wider Marvel universe was just in the background. It doesn’t feel that way anymore it feels like they’re constantly trying to remind you that it’s all connected. Blade, ironically, would be a great divergence from that because he and the other Midnight Sons deal with a very different side of Marvel.
I think the only way to save the marvel cinematic universe might be to focus on standalone movies and stop trying to make everyone link up! If it makes more sense why not just let them do their own thing in their corner of the world!?
Gotta go back to basics with standalone films with Blade, Ghostrider, etc.
I think we'll get this film after Secret Wars, around the same time they're doing the other supernatrual stuff. By then they'll have a better idea of how he'd fit, and then they restart the project.

@Mr.PR2000 i think what happend was a case of priority of current mcu stuff, blade seemed like it was treated as a lesser work and pretty much phase 4 and a bit of 5 focused on multiverse and they were setting up other things while questionably flawed like young avengers, eternals and few other characters. there are many other characters besides blade that make you question "how are they not even in it or heck considered" like captain britain who's whole shtick is multiverse and nothing. cut to now mcu is deadset on focusing on mutants which may have put the nail in the coffin

They had an Easter egg of him and Thor Ragnarok which was technically, Planet Hulk because on the tower that had a sculpture of the Hulk, there was the figure of Beta Ray Bill there... Marvel needs to do a complete reboot/recast of younger actors to carry the next 20 years now that they have X-Men and Fantastic 4 characters… If they reuse previous aging actors such as Thor, make him Odin instead.

Literally the easiest film to make: Blade killing Vampires, end of story, goodbye, the end! Imagine John Wick coupled with a dark horror and full of Vampires, that's it! The issue here is that Marvel want to inject Blade's daughter into the script and have her take centre stage, similar to what they did with Shuri taking over from T'Chala, America Chavez in Multiverse of Madness, eventually Love's eventual take over from Thor, Ironheart taking over from Tony, Kate Bishop taking over from Hawkeye, but it won't work ~
And the best part is...not of those characters have succeeded for them 🤣
