I see a lot of confusion as to why I was not credited in the description. Just to clear things up, I did not find any of the glitches he showed in this video. A+Start accurately credited everyone involved to my understanding. Most of them still play an active role in discovering Paper Mario glitches! In fact, this was coincidentally released the same day I began glitch hunting the game. I didn't hear about this video until a few weeks after lol. I know some people are under the impression that I find everything in Paper Mario; that is not the actual case. I have a lot of respect for A+Start going out of his way to credit others because a lot of "behind the scenes" work in the speedrunning community goes unnoticed, especially on RUclips. Support this guy, he's awesome :)
I bought the game on Wii Virtual Console on a hunch, and it was astounding. Absolutely beautiful. It was the first time I was ever exposed to something truly and positively brilliant. I sunk about 60 hours in on it, and it felt so *good*. My favorite chapter was 7 (I have a thing for ice levels). The music was perfect. The feel was amazing. Everything about it was stupendous. Gorgeous. 10/10.
Wait, how could you spend 30 hours trying at one specific glitch? That doesn't seem possible. wouldn't you start thinking it won't work on your copy of the game after like 1 hour of solid failure?
Good work as usual :D A lot of content and work put into this one, I can tell! Its amazing how much dedication you have. This series is definitely my favourite on youtube :3
There are a whole bunch of amazing, difficult glitches that have been discovered since this video was originally released. Perhaps a revisit is in order?
+A+Start there is a way to do the way to do the Yoshi Skip on the English version of the game. It's very similar to the Japanese version, but you only get out of bounds a different way. +Stryder7x has a video of it, and i've done it. I can send you the vid if you'd like
Awesome Son of a Glitch! Even though it is longer than the rest, it is so worth it! I can't believe you spent over 30 hours on just one glitch! That's insane man! Keep on making them awesome!
SON OF A....... GLITCH lol this is the first time wathced one of your videos Your videos are funny fun to watch and educational -when it comes to games- you earned A SUBSCRIBE
Douglas Kent to educate is to inform you about something you did not have prior knowledge of - so by telling us about the glitches, they are educating us. It doesn't just have to be in real life.
For some reason (I don't know why) but glitches in games fascinate me so much because like there not supposed to happen so it's like crap this is cool, it's as cool as if you created a part of the game that was not supposed to exist......
4:22 omg I did this glitch by accident and I wasn't aware that it skipped a boss, so I saved, but after saving I realised I had just skipped the boss, and I had bought a whole bunch of items for the fight...
Seeing all these clipping/out of bounds glitch just leaves me to think, "Mario 06" . . . Heck, playing on the original N64 version, one clipping glitch I found by accident actually crashed the whole game. . . it was in chapter 2 at Dry Dry Outpost. Just as you're heading to the area where you get the Pluse Stone, there is a building that has a fence that you can just barely walk behind by walking on the edge of the building. Slowly move up, then once you feel you're far enough, move left. If Mario is inside or behind the fence, move left and up to fall down to ground level. You'll end up behind the tent where Merlee is. Walking up or right will make you fall out of bounds, but from what I remember, once you do this, it crashes the game and makes a bunch of code appear. Maybe this was a thing the people over at Nintendo used to check and see what crashed the game whenever something actually crashed it?
if anyone wants to farm 3 lvls in bowsers castle just encounter the golden cannons*or the normal ones in chapter 1) dont kill the cannons and farm the bullet bills you can get 100 star points by doing this for each cannon battle. 100 is the max. it takes a while but its worth it.
You need to do super paper mario. Theres a glitch in the final level where you may accidently have to restart the whole game. In the final level you need certain characters to get into certain areas and as the level progresses, you slowly lose them in obstacles. When you leave the level you cant get into certain areas, making it impossible to finish the game. I discovered this the hard way.😢
7:33 It doesn't have to be that complicated. Once your clipped behind the stairs, jump to the right while facing left, and tap left twice for a split second each, and hold up for a half a second. You should be on the second or first step after the cannons.
So A+ I have to thank you for this vid the lava pihrana boss was giving me so much trouble so when I finally did the skip it led to a hilarious moment where the star spirit thanked me for saving her and I was all like I NEVER SAVED YOU XD
I accidentally encountered a glitch in the Koopa village when I played it for the first time. (can't remember the actual name...) After you beat the chapter, there are 2 Bob-ombs in the house that's in the middle of the area to the right (the one with the blue pipe). Right behind them there's a tiny ledge. I walked up to one of the Bob-ombs to talk to him, and I think what happened is that Mario reached the ledge just as I pressed A to interact with the Bob-omb. So he started basically jumping on and off the ledge like crazy, really fast & non-stop. I just watched him goof around for a few minutes because that was the first time I actually encountered a glitch myself, and once I'd had my fun I tried to make him stop. I moved him away from the ledge and he did his "hello" animation, like when he waves when you talk to a NPC. And then he got stuck in this position and I could move him but extreeeemely slowly. Like, maybe 10 pixels per second. I tried pressing every button, none of the C buttons worked, couldn't load the menu, couldn't use the hammer or jump, couldn't talk to the Bob-ombs, couldn't exit the house. I was stuck. Thankfully I had saved the game right before that happened but... Yeah that was pretty weird :')
+Dan Komochi Sounds like a softlock due to unintentional movement-related memory address manipulation. Pretty sure I've seen that glitch before, but it's pretty cool stuff :)
Hey A+ Start, I LOVE thus seriously. the intro makes me laugh every time. I love OOB glitches like the one with Sushi, so I performed it myself with my son watching in complete awe. I spent a solid afternoon exploring with the glitch but was wondering if you knew how to smuggle the effect out of the level? There doesn't appear to be a loading zone underneath the pipe, so I don't know where it is or how to trigger it and smuggle the effect. :)
I can't go back to the previous room with the water in it after doing the glitch at 7:20. Every single wall and ledge is a boundary, so I'm pretty much stuck inside Bowser's Castle. I hit a save block after this point, too :/
There's another cool glitch that I did once by accident. In Bowser's Castle, if you jump into the lava at a certain point and immediately hold up on the joypad, you can warp through the door near the lava, which will drop you into a room with a key and sometimes crash the game.
It's weird watching all these glitches because I always think of this game as being perfect, and I don't think I ever naturally encountered any glitch like this. I guess it shows that even the best made games have edges, and with enough dedication you can find all kinds of strange glitches and even alter the course of the game.
For anyone watching this 6 years later here's a cool glitch. In the main room of mt lavalava, have bombette or looper out. Go to the save block, fall off the edge to land on the 2nd spring. Ground pound into the save block. Fall down to the loading zone. Press c down to activate bombette/kooper, they will now be frozen. Press c right to open the partner menu. Scroll down to sushi, and while hovering over sushi and don't save, press a. Now enter the loading zone. Boom ram manipulation to do sushi glitch. You can now encounter the spike top or parinana plant, run away, go on the springs, enter the loading zone next to the save block, and head right. When you're in the room with the big spike ball, dive twords you, and out of bounds head right to enter the room after the lava parina fight. This area is a but buggy, but continuing to head right will cause you to skip the current chapter you're in. If done while in chapter 8, the save file will be softlocked if you save.
***** I really like the idea of doing a Son of a Glitch episode with Super Paper Mario glitches, because that I know that there is an out-of-bounds glitch.
+SilverGenerations Studios I've encountered a 0 hp glitch in Chapter 6. Simple as this- Get hit as Bowser, and die at the same time that you hit the Sammer and kill him. Three things can happen here. One, The cutscene of his defeat will play, but all the text will be wrong. You will die after this Scene. NOT your wanted outcome. Two, You will die during the cutscene and the game will softlock. NOT a wanted outcome. Three, The cutscene will play as normal and you will not die at the end of that cutscene. You will continue as 0 hp, but if you are hit you will die, and Mushrooms make the game softlock. DO NOT, I REPEAT, NOT, SWITCH OUT PIXELS OR CHARACTERS. Switching to Peach locks the game, and you have to restart the Wii. Switching to Mario locks the game again, but when you appear back, the file will not be accessible. Switching out any pixel causes the game to crash pretty hard. One droning sound, Visuals ALL wrong, And you have to restart your Wii. Yeah, I know a lot about this glitch.
@@mychannelofawesomeness1240 Oh, you know that sound that plays when your Wii Temporarily Freezes? Doesn't it sound like BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE? I think that glitch almost kills the Wii's CPU.
There's a much easier way to preform the blue house skip. It really only takes at least 30 seconds. It involves the green toad next to the bridge that leads to Forever Forest. First lure him towards the toad next to the blue house. Next, position the toad next to the curb. Then spin between and hammer when inbetween the two. Finally, when you clip, hold up right.
This episode definitely needs an update since a ton of glitches have been discovered. Some useful, some broken and some that just crash the game. Highlights definitely include Save Block Storage, Bombette NPC Pushing, Background Swap and definitely Peach%. Oh, and Blue House Skip is no longer the hardest glitch in the game.
_eyes the glitch that lets you skip a couple of fights in crystal palace and requires you to do three angle perfect and frame perfect blind jumps in less than a second…twice._ Also the angles are different each time btw. Good luck!
In response to the argument below me: I think that it was at Sticker Star where PM dropped the ball. I think for some people, it has that "FInal Fantasy Mystic Quest Effect" where it's nice to have something that isn't very challenging. The "It's so bad that it's good" type of deal. Super Paper Mario IMO was really good. I loved the story (I FREAKING CRIED AT THE END! SCREW YOU HATERS) and the characters! I have my own prejudices about each game. Like how TTYD was TOO EASY in the sense where you could pretty much destroy each boss with so much ease. I did a 15HP run of that game and died ZERO times. I couldn't do a 15hp run on PM64, which shows that you just need that much more experience at the game. Paper Mario was great because of challenge and story. TTYD was still challenging in some regards, but the boss fights were very pathetic. The only hard boss fight was the Shadow Queen. Idk, this is just my take on the matter.
thats just a difference in gameplay then. original paper mario doesnt have supergaurd, but most people cant use it too block the majority of hits. as for tank mario doesnt paper mario aslo have defense badges?
When I was younger, I thought the Merlon Skip was required because I kept talking to him after talking to the “Toads” and he didn’t say anything different.
There is a strange glitch with Herringway in Chapter 7. If you pause the game when Mario and Herringway go into the Mayor's room one of two things will happen. Herringway will either become invisible or become a normal bumpty. If he becomes invisible, he'll return when Mario leaves the screen. If he becomes a bumpty, the game will freeze when the Mayor hands him the present and a debug screen will appear. This was fixed in the Virtual Console version so you will have to play on a N64 cart. I hope you get the chance to show this off sometime. Surprised you didn't show it here.
A+Start LoL Thanks!! Not to mention some of the games you mention that had a glitch have definitely worked for sure, bit i often wonder does MegaMan x2 & 3 have Glitches 😀😄
at chapter 7 or something i decided to go to goomba village and lady bow started for some reason talking with goompa's voice lines and it even had animation
For the Blue House Skip, Stryder7x actually found an easier way to "do" the skip. The key in the Blue House is close enough to the wall that the hitbox slightly clips through. Go to the far corner of the house and walk into the house, and bam, you get the key.
I love all the controversy down in the comments below about what Paper Mario games are better than others. So why not join the rumble myself? I appreciate the aspects put into _Paper Mario_ over other role-playing games, because to tell the truth I’m awful at most other games in the RPG genre, even _Pokémon_ and _Mario RPG_ to an extent. However, compared to _The Thousand-Year Door_ the first one just feels archaic in comparison. I really love _The Thousand-Year Door_, because it takes everything that worked in the first game and improved it, at least in my opinion. Add to that, a ton of side content (Pit of 100 Trials, Rougeport’s Troubles board, Luigi’s Waffle Kingdom adventure, Bowser’s micro-ventures, ect.) and there’s a game that I undoubtedly want to see more of. I personally don’t have a problem with them having taken _Super Paper Mario_ in a new direction, mostly because it freakin’ works! I don’t care that it dropped the battle system, I don’t care that the partners are now less-than-inspired Pixls, and I certainly don’t care that the pacing can be slow during the first couple of chapters. For what it is, which is quite a lot, I really like _Super Paper Mario_, though I certainly consider TTYD to be the superior game between the two. As for _Sticker Star_, what the hell, Nintendo? It was such a let-down when I discovered what it had turned into after the first trailer, that I’m not even going to bother with it. Why should I, considering how I still haven’t beaten TTYD 100% of the way?
idk if anyone else has found this, but I just figured out that it's possible to get inside the box from log skip log area. Do the blue house skip OoB spin/hammer into the blue toad and box. No uses for this glitch tho.
Hey Andy, I've been flipping through this series for a while now and there's one game that you must cover: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door I don't now how glitchy or glitchless this game truly is, but you'd be the best guy to find out and show the world. I know for a fact, however, that using cheats courtesy of Action Replay or hardmods, lots of odd bugs pop up if exploited correctly, namely some collision detection oddities in Rogueport via the L+A for Super Jump code. Please do this game w/ AND w/out cheats, because it's the last game I'm waiting for on this series! Perhaps it could be a collab episode?
You forgot one last mega glitch...when you jump at the door in bowser castle entering the loading zone into the room, but you won't see mario and the whole game pretty much justs gigs up on you and crashes
A word for if you do a PMTTYD video (I see someone already requested it below), I remember one time in a post-chapter ride of the Excess Express where I accidentally glitched my way past the conductor back into the luggage car. I have no idea how I did it, and Goombella's area tattles clearly indicate the writers did not anticipate the player being in those locations (the car itself and the roof) anytime other than when they're supposed to.
I love your videos, and I would really appreciate if you could possibly sub the controls at the bottom? It's kind of a lot of trouble, but visualizing "double-jump, let go of everything, double jump, neutral stick, etc." It's awesome, and really I have no complaints. Just a suggestion!
A lot of people think that the hardest part of the Blue House Skip is getting the double jump. I think the hardest part is after the double jump, hold up right, then up left, because you have limited time to do those inputs. Anyone else agree with me?
I don't understand why anyone should use that kind of glitches in an RPG, especially in Paper Mario, since there are so many well-written dialogs and scenes you'd simply missing out. But I like the last one even though it's mean.^^
Speedrunning world record? Games don't have to be played the same all the time. That's the beauty of speed running, it creates a whole new way to play a popular game you've played a million times. Thanks for watching dude :)
I understand. But for speed running I'd prefer more skill based games. However, I wouldn't be a good speed runner at all since I'd find myself enjoying the gaming environment or the dialogs and totally not care about the time.^^ I like your videos though. They show aspects of games I've played many times that I've never seen before.
That's what I mean. Even if I'd play it multiple times, I'd still stick to the atmosphere and the congenial charakters in the game. To ignore this, I should play it over and over again one after another session, but that'd be probably to boring for me.
***** So... you're that kind of gamer that plays an RPG multiple times but makes the same decisions all over again? Playing the final bosses with the same team and raising your stats the same as your last runs, huh?... Well, then i understand why you don't see the point of this glitches. Though, i agree with you that you wouldn't be a good speed runner at all.

Oh Stryder 7x hello! I actually came here from one of your videos :D
Stryder7x wait, what? I thought you were the only person is allowed to glitch the game!
Stryder7x just a random question, do you use the wii vc for paper Mario 64?
IIRC he uses both. Glitches can have different effects depending on the platform because emulation isn't perfect.
This game really needs a son of a glitch update now. The new background swap glitch Stryder7x and Rain found is enough for its own video xD
Tell me about it

I think that glitch almost kills the Wii's CPU.
There's a much easier way to preform the blue house skip. It really only takes at least 30 seconds. It involves the green toad next to the bridge that leads to Forever Forest. First lure him towards the toad next to the blue house. Next, position the toad next to the curb. Then spin between and hammer when inbetween the two. Finally, when you clip, hold up right.
Watching Son of a Glitch Crashes Paper Mario
This episode definitely needs an update since a ton of glitches have been discovered. Some useful, some broken and some that just crash the game. Highlights definitely include Save Block Storage, Bombette NPC Pushing, Background Swap and definitely Peach%. Oh, and Blue House Skip is no longer the hardest glitch in the game.
_eyes the glitch that lets you skip a couple of fights in crystal palace and requires you to do three angle perfect and frame perfect blind jumps in less than a second…twice._
Also the angles are different each time btw. Good luck!
You can also walk on water with Sushie if you get into a battle while Sushie is swimming.
These glitches are perfect for speedrunners/TAS.
Awesome :D
DeoxysAndMew 2 have fun trying them out :)
Cheers, although I'm focussed on the second paper mario game and see if there are any glitches in there :D
Thanks for the response ;)
3:50 For N64 Looks this Background really nice!
It looks really like a drawing!
It is
Did he say black toads?
TRIGGGGEEEERRRRREEEEEEEDDDDDDDDD
wait no Stryder7x?
...yeah, he wasn't on youtube until 12 days after this video
(yes, i did just look that up)
This video doesn't crash Paper Mario.
2:20: "This is fine." -Oddly floating Bub-Ulb, 2001
I find funny that "cannon less" seems to be way harder than actually skipping the bullets and the cannons
Those are some pretty epic glitches. lol!
Awesome video as usual.
+A+Start LOVE the new thumbnail
What the heck is that monstrosity out of bounds?
Very informative; great work! :)
Thank you :)
I used to play this game to death in my childhood. I can't believe I never knew about any of these glitches!
InvertedSeal To be fair, they aren't the kind of thing you'll just run into in normal gameplay, this isn't Sonic '06 haha
A+Start ol
When I first played this I thought I played half of the game until the logs cleared (I was 4)
Keep Up the Vids!
There Awesome!
I also cried at the end.
***** Where's ned? In your head!
FimWritersGroup u forgot to mention the part where you mastered the super guard and or used tank mario in ttyd.
yeah, I did leave that out xD
thats just a difference in gameplay then. original paper mario doesnt have supergaurd, but most people cant use it too block the majority of hits. as for tank mario doesnt paper mario aslo have defense badges?
I feel like someone fell asleep when they were programming the collision barriers
pmw has many breakable invisible walls and many walls that can be bounced on
When I did merlon skip I got stuck in merlon's house
When I was younger, I thought the Merlon Skip was required because I kept talking to him after talking to the “Toads” and he didn’t say anything different.
I just discovered a glitch at mount lavalava where I was walking on a bridge in the jungle and starting walking on the water and got stuck.
30 hours? Wowza. Wish I had more than a single Like to give ya for all that work, lol
Awesome, I tried the wiki for paper Mario glitches but they have very few and low explained ones compared to you.
First video I saw from you. :)
Surprised you didn't show it here.
gots to admit, it actually works!
in Legend of Zelda alink to the past, i tried the ending glitch and it worked like a charm.
Arcader Kid If you can see it works, then…it works haha
+A+Start it is pretty hard to do the skip chapter 1 glitch it's so hard and im playing this game on n64 emulator so i need that glitch.
A+Start LoL Thanks!! Not to mention some of the games you mention that had a glitch have definitely worked for sure, bit i often wonder does MegaMan x2 & 3 have Glitches 😀😄
A+Start Plus i Love The work you put into these Glitch Videos :3
at chapter 7 or something i decided to go to goomba village and lady bow started for some reason talking with goompa's voice lines and it even had animation
For the Blue House Skip, Stryder7x actually found an easier way to "do" the skip. The key in the Blue House is close enough to the wall that the hitbox slightly clips through. Go to the far corner of the house and walk into the house, and bam, you get the key.
doesnt work because you can only unlock the door from the inside
wish you did this when you were bigger so you could collab with stryder7x
Yes I finally did the swim on land glitch!
Congrats!
You should do a second video on all of the new glitches!
idk if anyone else has found this, but I just figured out that it's possible to get inside the box from log skip log area. Do the blue house skip OoB spin/hammer into the blue toad and box. No uses for this glitch tho.
Existing crashes Paper Mario
very good video..nice work!
Hey Andy, I've been flipping through this series for a while now and there's one game that you must cover:
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
I don't now how glitchy or glitchless this game truly is, but you'd be the best guy to find out and show the world.
^^^
And in super mario sunshine with action replay, if you use the jump code(make sure to save), then restart without cheats, mario won't jump as high.
+mario sonic which jump code are you referring to? I've never seen this happen before
8:05 inspiration for super paper mario?
Legend of Peach: A Mario Between Worlds
1:18 woah what the i see a koopa in the background of out of bounds!
You forgot one last mega glitch...when you jump at the door in bowser castle entering the loading zone into the room, but you won't see mario and the whole game pretty much justs gigs up on you and crashes
now its one of those flower seedy thingys
I love playing paper mario,
1:19 green koopa bro and a knospi (this the german word i dont know the english)
30 hours??? That's more than I've played some games I've completed!
***** 400. Bite me
I'm talking about on average. You guys are lame. 1500 hours is my record. Smash Wii U + 3DS.
Just checked my Smash 3DS and Wii U hours. I've got exactly 1627 hours.
30 hours is more than I spent trying to complete the game, and I played it for nearly two days straight just to complete it! It was really fun.
Lol you guys are funny, at least 6000 hours playing league of legends.
Why paper mario don't crash when I open the video?
A word for if you do a PMTTYD video (I see someone already requested it below), I remember one time in a post-chapter ride of the Excess Express where I accidentally glitched my way past the conductor back into the luggage car. I have no idea how I did it, and Goombella's area tattles clearly indicate the writers did not anticipate the player being in those locations (the car itself and the roof) anytime other than when they're supposed to.
5:20 Senõr Pink would be so proud.
I love your videos, and I would really appreciate if you could possibly sub the controls at the bottom? It's kind of a lot of trouble, but visualizing "double-jump, let go of everything, double jump, neutral stick, etc." It's awesome, and really I have no complaints. Just a suggestion!
Check out the description and you'll see there are detailed tutorials for a most if not all of these glitches!
A lot of people think that the hardest part of the Blue House Skip is getting the double jump. I think the hardest part is after the double jump, hold up right, then up left, because you have limited time to do those inputs. Anyone else agree with me?
The blue house skip took you 30Hrs? Dang I got it on my 3rd try! :3
However, I wouldn't be a good speed runner at all since I'd find myself enjoying the gaming environment or the dialogs and totally not care about the time.^^
I like your videos though. They show aspects of games I've played many times that I've never seen before.
You wouldn't do these glitches until after you've beaten the game casually :)
