No, I have not done a back test on this. There are a lot of variables to consider. It would be difficult to back test in my opinion. But, as I said, in the right trending situation, I used this strategy successfully in real time with real money. I found it to consistently add value when I was looking for an aggressive exit.
The instrument would need to have a real open, high, low, close for each bar for ii to be effective. No dashes or it will be distorted. I have used this on very liquid stocks down to a 1-2 minute.
