  • This 4-4-0 unit is a modified version of Severn Lamb's Jupiter design built for the Carillon Historical Park in Dayto, Ohio, USA.
It is based on a model of 'Cincinatati' which in 1851 was the first locomotive into Dayton.
It's a real pretender. It is driven by the eight wheels on it's 23 ton tender. Power is supplied from 6 tons of lead acid batteries and 4 x 38kw motors.
To assist in the illusion that this is a steam loco there is not only a "steam" generator but also a computer controlled sound system.

I'm thrilled about this idea I worked there and I talked to the GM about making Carillon Park more like Greenfield Village in Michigan with a train circling the park...THANK U MR.BRADY.. you doing a great job😂

Woah! What a beautiful pretender! Looks extremely faithful to the pre-civil war 4-4-0s.

Decent looking loco but a shame it's not a live steamer. Doesn't look quite right without a smokebox door up front. I understand why having a new steam locomotive built in 2023 is a touch unrealistic... But still unfortunate to see such a big locomotive not operate in accordance with what it is trying to historically emulate. Maybe one of the remaining operational 36" 4-4-0s could visit the park someday and pull the train for a season.

The park is a small operation and they likely don’t want the maintenance that comes with a live steamer. They have a great collection of engines and coaches on display in the museum.

@@SchuyGuy86 I believe it! This place is on my bucket list especially alongside the 7.5” railroad they have there… I’m just being an ungrateful steam enthusiast.

After finding out that it's electric I really don't have any interest in seeing it anymore it's really not that big of a deal to build a actual steam engine this is coming from someone who has done the research and is currently acquiring what is needed for such equipment
