    Hi Kayla, just wanted to inform those questions concerning your drive shaft. There should not be any vibration at any speed, why? Because those shafts are built, balanced, and tested. Vibration only occurs in a drive shaft when they are not properly balanced. And I guarantee every drive shaft from QA1 will be and is perfectly balanced before it ever gets to the point of being boxed and shipped to you. Congratulations on your new drive shaft.. Enjoy your ride !!!!!!!!

    Correction: carbon fiber doesn't shatter, it just delaminates and will not shear through your floorpan like a chunk of aluminum will. With that said, though, you should definitely put additional heat shields around your driveshaft to protect it from exhaust heat at each end (because that's where it's bonded to the yoke and where you have the biggest likelihood of warping due to unequal thermal expansion).

    @bensheppard9816 8 месяцев назад +1

    Kayla, you said that was a stock exhaust on there. If you haven't before, look up David vizard exhaust on RUclips or Google. According to what he says in his videos, that stock diameter pipe at 2.5" and exhaust is going to restrict flow after 460 HP at the crank.
    On another note, I love the videos. Keep them coming!

    • @98wytebird
      @98wytebird 8 месяцев назад

      If all the exhaust was ran through a single 2.5 pipe I could see it being restricted but not the way it is now. Going with too big of pipe is not good either

    Less rotational mass at the driveshaft equals more energy/horsepower output at the wheels.

    The lighter drive shaft will counter act the heavier brakes. HP should be the same.

  • @BSA210
    @BSA210 8 месяцев назад +1

    I run a carbon fiber drive shaft on my M3. The weight reduction is around 50% from the stock value, which resulted in a dramatic change in character and behavior of the throttle.
    When I looked into these shafts for my camaro, the weight reduction numbers were drastically less. I opted not to replace mine. I'm not entirely off the market for one, but based on forum feedback and empirical reviews, it seemed the performance optimization, while noticeable, wasn't exactly that dramatic.

    • @KaylaRundle
      @KaylaRundle  8 месяцев назад +2

      The stock driveshaft for the Camaro is aluminum instead of the normal steel heavy driveshafts. I opted for the Carbon so I wouldn’t be adding weight more than the stock driveshaft. It’s also increasingly stronger than stock which makes the investment worth it. Wanted it now versus being stranded on the side of the road in the future!

    • @BSA210
      @BSA210 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@KaylaRundle yeah, that was it, actually. The aluminum drive shaft isn't that much heavier than it's carbon counterpart. To an extent, weight savings are weight savings. These things are under 2k anyway, so more power to you there for sure. Look forward to an impression/experience video once you've had time to drive with the shaft on. If you plan to put down more power, it's also always a good idea for sure. Never heard of getting stranded due to a had shaft but I suppose it could happen lol.

    • @spdcrzy
      @spdcrzy 2 месяца назад +1

      That's because the biggest "drag" on an engine is the rotational inertia of the flywheel. That's what controls the responsiveness of the throttle, not the driveshaft.

    • @BSA210
      @BSA210 2 месяца назад +1

      @@spdcrzyuhm. Rotational mass is rotational mass. Any reduction in weight in the drive train will affect throttle response. 🎉

    • @spdcrzy
      @spdcrzy 2 месяца назад +1

      @@BSA210 this is true. but my point is that you'll feel a MUCH bigger difference from the flywheel in a big cubic inch V8 vs the high revving motor in an M3 vs changing driveshafts. Both make a difference, but you can't feel the difference of the driveshaft if the flywheel is still the primary regulator of how quickly the engine responds to throttle input.
      In an M3, if you're doing it right, you have ITBs, a light flywheel, and a carbon driveshaft - that works on a car like the M3. A Camaro engine like Kayla's is going to make UNGODLY amounts of torque that would scare the shit out of an M3. And therefore the weight savings from a CF shaft are not going to be nearly as much.
