Sweet Baby Jesus this is an awesome cover! That tone! The precision! I’d noticed this song having a ridiculously groovy bass line but didn’t look it up until today and I’m so glad I watched this video in particular. So, so good!
I know this was done a while ago but awesome cover of this tune. How do you get such amazing tone? I put this on in the car and my subwoofer was rockin! What's the secret? Keep up the great work!
You did a fine job and you handle the bass very well. You seem to have a good understanding of chords (even on the bass). Maybe you could tab out some more of EJ's tunes. You might find them also fun to play. Excellent music.
Good job with getting the timing of the bass either early or late, I can never or rarely tell by ear .. but can tell when a bass isn't playing over the drums, and more around them. Dee did this well, just like Doug Stegmeyer, John Paul Jones and other greats... and you too lol
Anyone else notice that weird glitchy sound around 2 minutes or so? It's part of the album/track for this song but I'm not sure if it's a synth that got pushed or triggered by mistake, overdubbing debris or something? Hm
also i can hear during parts of the verses anyway that dee was doing this weird distant sounding non overbearing kind of slap, usually octaves (higher) that'd be pretty hard to do i think in one take, maybe in fact he has two bass parts layered here, not sure :)
also it's easy to get the wrong impression i find as a bass player when listening to a song mixed as well as this one is of what the bass is doing... you hear some slapping or popping once in a while and go in that direction but as the fine bass player here shows it's done once or twice lol. cool to hear the odd effect isn't some insanely hard to replicate vibrato either, but a fine chorus..really cool tone. sounds like it's bass heavy, mids are maybe scooped... treble is maybe 1/4 or so of what it could be.
Superb work and sound! Dee Murray put in some seriously good basslines through Elton's career.
Best bass cover of this song, I’ve ever heard! Well done! I listened to it dozens of times. God bless

Beautifully done - lovely tone and you really brought the song alive. Thank you!
The pull at 1.49 and the alternative use of B(?) instead of D at 3.18 show the attention to detail. Well done. You nailed it.
wow.
your tuning is so close, its creating a chorus effect.
i am a guitar player, slowly becoming obsessed with the bass.
this song just speaks to me.
Wow, brilliant playing my man 👏 The notes on the E string in particular sound amazing

Oh man, I used to own that exact same bass. I wish nowadays I hadn't sold it. Great cover BTW!

Officer Gregory Stevens I don’t think this was Dee. I think Paul Westwood played it. I could be mistaken.
It was Dee Murray.
