As she accepted to live with him in France, it gave him huge press attention and helped immensely him get his early great movie roles. If he ever was genuinely in love with her, just he knows the answer. As for Romy, it was very positive to live in France as she felt at home there and she met Visconti who turned her in a real/adult actress. After acting in play directed by Visconti maybe they should have broke up. But breaking up personallly. The way he left her with flowers and 'I'm going to Mexico with Nathalie, one thousand of things' note was so insensitive and cruel with Romy. I dont understand why he was so long with her if he dont reciprocated her feelings. After Plein Soleil, he could (and maybe should) have had a good conversation with her and break up with her in person. Soon after their break-up, Romy was shooting L'Enfer movie but unfortunately the shooting was cancelled. This movie could have been her big break in France movie scene and launched her French career. But unfortunately that wasnt meant to be. And Mr Delon lucked out, when he got separated from Nathalie, the 1rst thing he did was to demand Romy as his co-star in a very sexual movie that happened to be a huge success and launched her career in France. And because that, Romy felt indebted to Delon and kept him in her life as a friend what IMO wasnt emotionally healthy to her. If L'Enfer had been finished and released maybe her life would have turned out better and could have met other men to marry. RIP Romy
