As a south Florida local I find it extremely frustrating how much they are charging just for general admission tickets. Just a bit painful to see a 3 day ticket with okay seats go for 2-3k
You found one for $3000? All the ones I’m pulling up start at $6000! 🥲
idk where you're looking, Marina and Beach section grandstand seats going for under $2k for the full weekend
Maybe resale?
f1 is only interested in rich people.. indycar is much better
3 times the price of a 3 day pass for my home GP wow!
It’s nice to see the drivers embracing this event, and making themselves available…
The prices to attend are absurd …
They have the demand. I'm not happy about it but it makes sense from a business perspective.
It's unfortunate that this event has outpriced most of the locals such as myself. Still excited to watch the live broadcast though
@DonaldTrumpsTinyHands I'm sure if they halved the ticket prices you'd definitely be able to purchase and afford them!!
....oooorr maybe they'd sell out instantaneously to scalpers because many people are very willing to pay high prices.
To get what you're after, I believe F1 needs more races in the US and look at larger seating.
As a south Florida local I have been watching f1 since 2007! Yes 2007. I have seen every race since and never missed one. I am a hard core fan. And I am going to the race on Sunday with GA tickets. I will be attending my 3rd GP
1:58 I love that everyone one is suspicious of any water in Miami nowdays. "What if it's just wood?"
Kym, the "mini stadium" within the stadium hosted the Miami Open tennis tournament just a few weeks earlier
My first f1 race! From the looks of it there doesn’t seem to be a way to get up close to the drivers though - without paying 10 grand at least. Great video as always :)
my hometown Miami!! so excited to have F1 and Kym here!!!
The Miami F1 GP is like if the Fyre Festival would have been successful.
I’m glad you took pictures of the modest homes surrounding the track. Important people get a look as to what the “real” Miami is about.
Great behind the scenes, Kym! Good to have you in the states....have a safe and enjoyable event. Stay hydrated! oh, and, yeah - STAY PASSIONATE!
Kym up here in Ft. Lauderdale at Pier 66, they are inviting all the mega yachts to have a big F1 watch party. The MIA and Ft. Lauderdale are on fire for this race.
Thanks Kym great behind the scenes info
Kym You are a top shelf bloke m8, love the coverage as always.
And back atcha
I saw plenty of you on TV this weekend. Nice one
Good to know, thanks for keeping an eye out for me!
Keep the vids coming! Love it
Great insight as always, Kym!
Glad you enjoyed it!
As a former Miami local now a Dallas local, if you are complaining about the race and how ridiculous it is. You've never been to Miami. You will only understand how this craziness is notmal here if you've been here. Trust me
Oh the life of an f1 driver. I wish I got to be them, it’s so amazing the things they do. Also I wish I had custom f1 golf club covers.
It seems the organizers are emphasizing the entertainment and experience around the entire occasion and event, but not sure what's going on behind the scenes in terms of businesses in US absolutely bumping up the charges of sporting events. I know F1 is still seen as a sport with more prestige and reputation when it comes to fan experience (as opposed to something like basketball and baseball) and maybe operating costs are through the roof, but it gets insane. Las Vegas will just blow Miami out of the water when it comes to ticket prices.
It's really sad. Last year's Austin race, my wife and I got tickets for GA at $360 for 2 tickets. This year we paid $780 for 2 tickets, same GA. It's sad and really takes access away from folks just trying to watch a race. And that's all you get. You get packed into a grassy area with long long food lines that run out of items before the race begins.
I’m pretty sure it’s just resellers bro . Also you have to take into account that usually the city and track pay f1 to race in their cities . But in this case F1 has paid to host a race in Miami . So I imagine it also has to do with getting the money back . But in truth , it is a pretty big event , actors , artist , big money people from all over the country will be there . ABC will even be playing the race for free on Channel 8 so it’s a pretty big deal . Must be a crazy experience being there live for the three days , remember they also have free concerts for ticket goers to live music . BIG name artist will be there including Post Malone , tiesto , and maluma . It’s a three day party with the f1 circus in town 🙏
@nameless I think price is a function of race in a top city with lots of spare cash, easy to get there from most places, insane number of casual F1 watchers from DTS. Result is surge charging that puts Uber to shame. The tickets were sold in minutes. I know because I was in the queue at starting position 1200 and lucked out because of a typo when entering card details with a shot clock going in my head🤣🤣. Next year
The 2017 sale of F1 to the American corporation Liberty Media has turned the F1 circus into what appears to be a solely profit based organisation. The first 3 and last events are based in the Middle East. The origins of the sport are fading with the British GP struggling, NO German GP, likely the Belgium GP at Spa will disappear and Monza in doubt after 2024. The USA events are tasteless, expensive and overhyped. The Netflix soap opera is attracting a new and very different audience to the traditional fans of the past. Very sad.
In 5 years people will be making videos about the cringe over-hype and eventual collapse of this BS “race”
You make the best and most entertaining videos about people and venues of F1.
Cheers from yyz
Thanks
Keep it up, Kym!!!
great inside info.... :) cheers from Mexico
Kim - Great stuff (Not just in Miami) - Makes my 8 weeks at work away from home that bit more bearable when you post. My grumpy comment - I get what Liberty Media are trying to achieve and I have to admit, they have done a great job in further promoting the sport BUT, as a die hard F1 fan, I cant help but loathe the pure fake of the Miami race (I also dislike Monaco lol). Keep up the good work!
Kym, you sure "Let It Shine" in Miami :) love the painting! lol
8:08 Damn, are those pierre's calves? very nice lol
Glad that you got to stay in Hollywood or Hollyweird ;) Hope you enjoyed your time in South Florida
Hope to come across you tomorrow and Sunday 🔥🤙🏾
It’s absolutely outrageous that they would charge that much money!! Watching the race I was angry that nearly no one was in those prime spots & those that were, weren’t even watching the race!!
That made me mad, now I’m madder knowing the price!! It looked ridiculous on the ground & what a waste of prime F1 viewing.
I hope they review that & put a grandstand or 2 there next yr so more people can attend.
P.S Good job on your channel Kym WoW 🤩 this 1 racked up the views, your becoming very popular! Outstanding considering your a little Aussie born & bred in S.A then W.A & you basically lucked into 1 of the best jobs on earth! Keep it up 👍 (I’m from the Adelaide Hills so I had to claim u as part South Australian 😆😆)
Cheers to you.
MURICA turning up! 🔥🙌🔥
People are hating so much on this circuit but it’s epic. Miami so dope
The city and the vibe is amazing. Very different to other GP’s. The track isn’t great and probably won’t give us good racing but who knows
@@nicksimoneau9220 i think it will give good racing
you shouldn't give your opinion on a racetrack when we haven't even raced there. We know so little at the moment
3 GPs in a country with the size, population and economic compatibility of the EU isn’t too much. Looking at it that way, the EU gets about 8 races. No one is complaining there (I definitely am not, just offering a comparison). Now it’s time for subliminal messaging…BRING BACK THE NURBURGRING!!
@@mamavswild well i mean, it's a european sport, it makes sense most or all of the races would be in europe
I love this. It’s a proper show, is it as traditional as sitting in a boggy field at Silverstone? Nah, but this is a fantastic spectacle.
It’s a British thing to hate Cordon btw 😅
Americans also hate Cordon
I’m the odd man out
@@sumavargas3147 really? I kinda liked his car karaoke
@@KymIllman Apparently it is mainly because he is according to lots of people a douchebag when the cameras are off. I haven't have experience with the man, but lots of people hate him for that. You should check out his Reddit AMA from 3 years back, no positvity at all. Which says I think a lot about the man. Anyway love your work as always
Canadians don't like Cordon either, and we like everybody. Sorry
Hi Kym,
Great channel and I enjoy your videos.
I want to comment about the cost of going to the Miami Grand Prix. I have been an F1 fan for almost 40 years since I was a young kid. During the 80's and 90's I was lucky enough to go to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Phoenix, as well the Montreal several times. As a middle class American I am now totally priced out of going to a race which is devastating as a long term fan. I feel F1 has completely forgotten about fans like me that are true F1 fans. It seems like F1 is only interested in making going to races possible for the rich and shameless. I am totally against everything that has been done with the Miami race price wise. It would have been the ultimate race for me to go to if the prices weren't untouchable for the average fan.
Anyway just my opinion. Thanks again for your videos.
Or stop being poor lmao. Those attending are winners in life unlike the working class peasants
Very interested to see where you shoot from at this track. Looking forward to seeing the images.
Have fun mate!
I was able to take my 150-500 and get some cool shots on turn 1! Looking forward to the rest of the weekend to get more pics
I know this race sold out, but I highly doubt in 2-3 years it will again if they keep the same ticket prices as the Super Bowl.
Kym Illman by far the best F1 show there is, thanks for sharing it all with us Kym 👏👍😀
“Whose feet are these” really threw me off LOL
Nice one
It will be a Great Weekend......Loved the Video Kym!!!
Torn about this whole thing. The facilities and everything to do with the race are super cool. Love the vibe. However it’s a shame that many genuine racing fans were priced out of this race completey. 🤷♂️
excellent
Hi Kym, it was good to see you at the track on Friday. "How do you like the event so far?" You: "Lots of walking!" :)
Great rapid fire summary. Looking forward to some of your images from the qualifiers and race. Have fun and wear some heavy sun screen.
It was a very different event to most the F1 races I've attended!
@@KymIllman No doubt, I have been fortunate to be able to attend a few and it was certainly different. More of a show (and show-off) for the affluent than a racing event.
I certainly appreciate your perspective given your experience and wealth of knowledge on the matter.
I enjoy your personality, content and professionalism.
Looking forward to following many F1 seasons alongside your channel and hopefully making your acquaintance in the future in a more meaningful manner. Best Regards!
Cool
With Vegas next year its going to be a big competition between the two cities for who can pull off a crazier event
the pool looks 0.5m deep
They have tennis tournaments in that small stadium. They built the track over the top of all the outside courts which they will have to rebuild for next year. No wonder tickets are $1000.
I really liked Seb's shirt. Definitely want one
We have enough bad news around. We are aware , so can we have just joy for a moment. People with t-shirts are not going to solve it.
also want one, dripped out sebbie
Just seen you on Sky F1 snapping some shots of Charles and Max and my mam without her glasses on says "I thiught he was Michael Caine 😂😂
I’ll take that.
You do a great job - Aussie Aussie Aussie 😎
Oi Oi OI
4:06 I’ll be on the lookout for Jimmy Carter this weekend
haha i wish, it's gonna be the person we all know it'll be, which sucks
Your intro levels Netflix style ;)
Lando's Helmet is actually textured, not flat!!!
So I believe
So what the drivers drove in Miami? Still waiting.
Regards and keep up the good work
When I first heard that there would be a Miami GP I knew I would never attend. Kym's example is spot on. This is the 'Bottle Service' of F1 races. If that's your scene, then this is for you.
I attend Austin every year and are perfectly happy whether I have a Gen Adm or Paddock Pass because the people coming to that race are there to watch a race, not solely for the IG photo op.
To that point, a lot of people are missing the key factor that this is a race hosted by F1, which is why it has a different look and feel (and price point). This is not a race to draw race fans, it's a race to convert high net worth individuals into F1 fans.
I think Vegas will sit somewhere in the middle. It'll still be somewhat obtainable but with all the excesses of Vegas.
I saw you on sky sports f1!
Great to hear
lookout for some Indycar guys like Colton Herta, Pato O’ward, and the Andrettis in the paddock
I'll also look out for them when I shoot Indycar next weekend
Woah! Ocon of all people is hitting that? mmmm nice.
4:06 ffffff you telling me he's gonna be there? that sucks.
a race like no other... until las vegas next year xD
I paid 90€ for my son and I, in Les Combes, for the saturday in Spa last year. I feel for you guys, this should be a gathering affordable for the price of a concert. But yeah, each venue has its crowd i guess.
Super pissed about forking up that kind of money for grandstand seats and finding out the podium is on the other side of the track afterwards.
Yike$$$$ ! I will stop complaining about my 600$ 3 Days Tribune 1 tics for the Montréal GP now, i feel very lucky to be able to attend a GP in my hometown
Parties, celebs, high prices… a marina, pool and boats? I get the feeling they’re trying to recreate a Monaco atmosphere but for a US GP.
Has the US finally fallen in love with F1? I work in a city of 60,000 and seen two different people wearing a Red Bull hat/hoodie today (May 7/quali day). 2-3 years ago, I wouldn’t have seen that in Ohio.
Greg Maffei isn't Chase Carey's successor, he was his boss...Chase's successor is Stefano Domenicalli.
Of course.
The popularity in the US is almost entirely due to DTS. GOOD!
Who down-votes Kym's videos? Ugh.. You're awesome Kym! keep it up!
Will do. Thanks
As an American I will say that I have zero interest in a race in Miami or Vegas. Then again I don't care about the glam or celebrities, I'm just here for the racing.
as a Brit, James Corden can get in the bin 🤣
Wow, didn't know that Pierre Gasly was able to have a dinner seat with Michael Jordan, that is just wild!
Yep, what an amazing experience for him
Miami can be the high budget F1 race but they better keep COTA the race for average F1 fans with cheaper tickets and cheaper events.
Yeah COTA will be the “cheap” race in the US and probably the best racing too. Vegas is going to be the most fun. I love Miami, but Vegas is on another level an. You are better off just going to Miami for Ultra Music Festival and COTA for the F1 event. F1 at COTA is way more expensive than NASCAR and MotoGP at COTA though.
What video editor do you use
Final cut pro
Thanks
man those Cabanas look so cheap for something that cost 60k
James Cordon is as funny as Amy Shumer.
A picture from Fernando Alonso together with his new girlfriend Andrea Schlager would be nice
I’m in Colorado and tried to get Miami tickets. I jumped on the net when they opened the window, all sold out in a few minutes. I tried to get thickets after that, they’re worth about $6000 per ticket. For two, that’s enough to buy my own car.
So yeah…I think we’ve woken up to F1. 😅
But Vegas is not too far from Colorado and I’m gonna be RIGHT THERE when the window opens!
I’ve seen chatter that the US shouldn’t get 3 Grands Prix…well if we can fill every single seat in all 3 GPs while keeping prices and quality high… who could do that?
The US shouldn’t be compared with a single country in Europe since our population and size, as well as GDP is more comparable to a United Europe..let’s use the EU…Ok…you’ve got about 8 GPs…EIGHT GPs! No one’s complaining about that! (I’m not, just offering a comparison). But by way of comparison, 3 GPs in a place with the comparability of Europe isn’t too much. Especially since the 3 that will be on the calendar are situated in East, Central and Western US, which gives a lot more accessibility for Americans and offers wildly different GPs since the culture is so different in each place. The US isn’t a single culture and has a dozen main accents, so 3 GPs will complement that.
Now if one more was added I’d start to get embarrassed.
Also, bring back Germany. Hockenheim or Nurburgring. (I want the Nurburgring). F1 without Germany is like a baguette contest without France. It just doesn’t taste right.
Such a sound and well presented argument. also, having 3 F1 races in the united states offers more opportunities for people who live in south and central America, since sometimes is cheaper to travel to USA even more so than other countries that are closer, like Brasil or México.
@@santiagocucunuba5358 Right! I was at COTA last year and due to the accessibility of the area with Mexico, Checo (and Red Bull) was well represented! That’s a great point. As Checo said, COTA is nearly a second home GP for him.
Rather than the population and size, compare the number of F1 fans.
Germany alone has more fans than US
“Now if one more was added I’d start to get embarrassed.” - Even if it’s Indy?
@@EMichaelBall ummm…..errrr….maybe one more??? 😝

It's on the homepage of my youtube channel next to the subscribe button. I don't think it's visible on the youtube ios app though.
I heard Laura winter on f1 weekend warmup show where she said she got to touch the helmet and it’s got the gritty texture of a basketball 🏀, did they have to change the helmet to comply with regulations?
She’s right. I was given the wrong info.
@@KymIllman Guess Helmet Aerodynamics are less important than we thought 😂

That is not Miami, hence the name The city of Hollywood,FL...A parking lot track

would be funny if it rained lol. imagine paying 100k for a nice outdoors sunbed then it turns out to be raining
That’s Miami for you.
Vettel must be in his final year. respect for the guy. Nobody would seriously advocate and expect another drive
k-mag will go to Ferrari next
you post a photo of seb and you ask why people like it this much😃?crazy question man
James cordon 💀💀
Maan the track kinda tight but its okay... it just the car that get too big
The anti James Cordon sentiment stems mostly from his behind the scenes reputation…not everyone that smiles on camera is great to be around.
what lewis wear???
Gasly Ricciardo incoming?
who ever been to Miami is rich hence proved
why is this age restricted?
