great video mate! probably the easiest view of how to make a carpet mill for dogs i've come across yet.. now i feel a heap more confident to make my own, cheers again
thanks alot man you saved me big bucks i was on the verge of buying one of those big expensive ones but i just wanted one that would work and that worked just as well!..
This is a very helpful video! I'm thinking about building one of these for my dog, but I wasn't sure if I could figure out how to do the rollers right. Now I think I can pull it off. :)
Hey, great video, I've been looking for an inexpensive way to train my pits and min pin in the winter (damn cold up here in Canada!!) I was thinking instead of wax just glueing a crazy carpet or thin plexiglass to the top board, might be less trouble. The rollers were my biggest problem, but you solved that one for me! Thanks for the ideas!!
I put the block on all four sides on the edges out of the way of the carpet. Its good to do it this way first so you can get the angle you want. Measure the hight of both front and back and cut and nail your 2x4s as legs.
@dbanga5 It last as long as you keep it out of the rain. You may have to change out the copper tubing , nails and carpet after heavy use, but there is little more to wear out.
@saintjoseph408 Yep as backyardbulldogs says it is louder than real bearings. If you want to know how it sounds just go to his site it sounds just like that. You could put a bearing where the tubing is. it would take a little ingenuity but it could be done. Thanks for watching.
@GHANDYTAMASH When fitting the carpet.... it needs to be loose, not tight. make sure the carpet sags a little on the bottom Friction can be reduced by aplying a wax coating on the running board if its still a little sticky. Your pits will have no problem moving the carpet if you do both of these things. Elevation has a little to do with it also.... depending on how hard you want to work your dog. Its the oposite you would think. Its harder for the dog the less elevation you put on it.
Wow looks easy to make as human Treadmill friking out my dog's with the nois on there paws Have big Questions do the Dog not Biuld up to match Static using Carpet ?
Would a Small 12lb Dog Be Able To use a manuel carpet mill? If so could it be smaller, say 29x35 I don't have much room for a big treadmill. I've only see smaller dogs on a ele one.
@eliodoroh I havent experimented with different types of wax, Talcom powder is probly gonna be the best thing to use. Your carpet if too loose will bunch up under the dogs stride. My mill has a slight sag when looking under it. The mill will run with less effort with a loose carpet and vice versa the tighter requires more effort .... you just have to find a happy medium :) I hope this answers your questions. Thanks for watching.
@peacefulcounselor Hello, If you can send a video of the mill and how the carpet is sewn. I would be happy to help. I had a problem with mine sticking in just one spot every time, but after investigating i found the carpet was binding at the spot where it was sewn. Are your rollers in a bind like theres tension on them from the carpet being too tight? idk Its hard to say without getting a good look at it.
@saintjoseph408 what kind of board did you use? I would try talcum powder on it first as this worked for another guy on here. I use paste wax. on a sealed board. you can seal it with polyurethane then put a coat of wax or silicone. that should make your dog shoot out the back side of it lol. send me a quick fideo and i may be able to see if there is any other reasons the friction is too much. Thanks for your interest!
3:50 Since the incline angle of the belt doesn't change the amount of work required, adjusting it won't change the vigorousness of the dog's exercise. Being a stationary treadmill, the dog isn't really climbing anything when running on it.
Do you have a physics degree? Or is this your "educated" opinion? I replaced the wood floor with tin and it made the world of difference. Thanks for your input.
@@MolanLabe78 All the dog is doing is moving the belt. The dog isn't going up or down. The incline of the device doesn't change the difficulty of moving the belt much.

12 years old video very helpful
Might I suggest using some tin over the plywood. The carpet slips much better using that.
Thank you for this video and all the info appreciate you very much great dets
Excellent job thank you

Tin works really good too
Just seen it cheers for that I'm gunna make one this weekend!!
This is fking genius 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Onward to the workshop!!!
Thanks for this, mate.
This is so accessible holy shit. I'm gonna try to make this for our dog
Use tin to cover the floor and the carpet runs much better. Enjoy!
Thanks a lot for the video.
Could you show one with your dog waking on it so we can see that it really works good?
great video i appreciate it very much thank you

Gona make one for my pitbull
@DemonikXLVIII No problem. Im glad you like it. Hope your dog enjoys it!
You done well enough said.
Glad you guys like it.
@torredie Glad I could help!
Just a question. Does the carpet get hot as they run on it?
@4240880 Thanks! Yes, thats all its for. The wax is just to allow the carpet to have less friction with the wood it slides on.
damn im going to have to try this.. thumbup to JThompson!

@fenceman456 preasure treated yellow pine 2x4s. used a peice of 1/8 inch plywood for the floor.
Would be nice to see this in action
i use it myself too:)

its not bad probly louder then store bought berrings but it doesnt bother the dogs at all. hope that helps.
Sir, did you have a special covering or surface over the plywood where the carpet was traveling over? Thank you.
@therccarmad Hey bud, I used line chalk and a box cutter

do you insert the copper tube in the landscaping timber
Zarka Haji
No, I just drove the nail through the copper tube that was put in the side and straight into the landscaping timber.
Cooooool
Personally I would like to see a test run. Cheers
👍Check in my videos there's one in there. Also a link in the video at the beginning you can click on.
hey, I know I have to put a wax layer over the base so the carpet can slide, but what kind of wax? like... candle wax?
Hi, can you help me, I made the carpet mill, but the carpet is moving from one side to the other and block, what should I do?
can i ask what are the things needed to build the mill? thanks in advance!

How do I know what size to make it.....or how do I measure my dog to make him one...

What size is the pvc pipe
@eliodoroh either one will work, put some sylicone/teflon spray on it! lol. thanks for watching.
sir can you make video on how to insert wood inside of pvc..thank you
Can use zip ties instead of fishing wire
is that one long
what about like a silicone grease?
hey dude may i ask for the materials u used here i find it hard to understand what you're saying. thanks ^_^
Is there a video of it being used
Take your dog out on a dirt road, and measure his full stride. The floor for the mill shouldnt be any shorter than the stride.
@jthompson323241 Thanks mate for this. It´s so simple!! Really apreciate the time you put making this video. Cheers

@jthompson323241 i wanted to know what kind of wood u used for the frame ?
@eliodoroh It would help... but it's not necessary.

just rest the carpet and through which slips.
please can you send me the images of the project how to build please.because watching the video isnt enough
@jthompson323241 how long does this last before you have to make a new one
Hello, I am from Venezuela and I do not understand English very well. would like to know the dimensions of the timber side.
2 by 4
Do you make and sell?
How do you stick the carpet ends together? It’s a nightmare
Hey RT, I used 50lbs test fishing line and stitched it with a running stitch. It's what i had on hand atm.
@@MolanLabe78 appreciate the reply!
where are located
How do you train your dog to run on the treadmill
Treats or bait
Can you write down all what was used
Hola cual son las medidas
Will a rug work instead of carpet?
It might be a little heavy but I don't think it would cause any issues.... As long as it's flexible of course.
@@MolanLabe78 I'm sewing it up artm, I think my mill is to long tho... Well see
@@MolanLabe78 thanks for your answer
que naquez.
how do you get the length for the carpet?
Length X 2
Then add the circumference of the thing. (Sorry I don't know what they call them. I didn't study this shit lol)
Luigi Brito is the carpetmill supposed to be tight or loose?
I don't know. I wonder. I have yet to build my own
is that one lond piece of timber down the pvc pipe or 2 separate prices on each end
One long peice. 2x4's will work too.
+Molan Labe cool thanks alot man.
I want to see your dog use it...please?
make a video from the start
How do you make it move? Motor?

😰😂😂😂😂😂😂😅
do you have any treadmills for sale
hey man just saw this i have big girl i mean she big 75 80 kg dane cross bull arub g cross wolf cross stag s she big bitch how big or wht length should mine bro for dog that big an how do u stop carpet from moving side to side thanks im in australia
This didn't work and I built it like yours. The carpet is too thick. Don't use normal carpet, use outdoor carpet. It's much thinner and lighter.
check in my videos I have one in there.
my dog wont use it unles its all ready moving he wont do it him self lol
Sell me 1
Reggie Wynn I would have to take an inventory of the parts to find out if it would be worth it for you, with you paying for shipping and handling.
Just let me know how much for everything an I will git back with you
Before he',s 1/² old.. you shouldn't train roughly and toughly
I did it with Stodoys plans.
