I love the Magician aspect and that Vijay spent 2 months with some Magicians to learn some real tricks to do on film.
I also love love love that they have a great looking warehouse with all of the tricks & illusions that he is working on. My engineering mind had a field day with the set production of those scenes. Looks good

Guys, do not fight here. I watch movies in at least 5 languages and I know there are good and bad in all of them. If you have not watched at least a handful of films from all industries, you are not qualified enough to judge just by a trailer for a film. There are amazing movies in south and north and my request to people who love bollywood is to be open to good south movies and pass honest judgement. Unlike what you think many south indians watch hindi movies, but not vice versa. So i feel you guys are not qualified to pass blind judgement.

Mersal great mov 🤩must watch vijay played 3 different roles
The cuts are choppy in B & C movies (not to be mistaken with "B" Grade movies). It is to create an illusion that the movie is moving at a fast pace and is not slow or boring. B and C mean the lower middle class, little educated and small screen audiences against the multiplex audiences.
Still, people watch Vijay and Ajith in all types of screens because all A, B and C are their fans. The urban population also became their fans this decade. I used to skip all Ajith, Vijay movies because they were so cringeworthy and Vijay seems to be getting better selecting good scripts and directors.
Ajith got stuck with just one moron for four straight films and he has been looking goofy these days. You don't have to accept that, as off-beat films have regular cuts and these types of commercial mass masala (meaning spice/spicy) films (as they are called), generally employ fast cuts.
If you think these cuts are faster, you should watch Singam 2, Singam 3 and Sami 2 trailers, directed by Hari. Okay, I was kidding. Don't watch them. You'll regret it. If you want to have a good laugh afterwards, you can :D

This film's director Atlee knows how to tease people with his trailer cuts but his films usually aren't that impressive except his debut film "Raja Rani". His second film was also with Vijay called Theri, whose first half was very good but the second half was bad, the film was a blockbuster because currently, Vijay is at the top of his game and stardom. Murugadoss is one director who brings the best out of Vijay. Even the dialogue modulation in this teaser is not at par with Vijay's films with Murugadoss. I hope Mersal lives up to the expectation, unlike Theri. It will do well given the hype and festival release and Vijay's strong grip on the family audience.
Personally, my favourite teaser cuts of Vijay's films in recent times are:Thupakki>Kaththi>Theri>Mersal.
