@mrALO unfortunately wasn't to be. John and Pete clearly have other ideas and I'll bow to them after what they achieved in the draft last year and what everyone expected of them afterwards. Be interesting to see what they aim for today.
Witherspoon being the 2nd defensive player drafted. He needs to be in the running, defensive rookie of the year. Alot of expectations. Set the bar high.
I have a feeling Geno Smith broke out his tastiest beverage last night and had a very pleasant evening. Meanwhile, this Witherspoon kid might more likely be the next Bob Sanders. Small, lethal projectile, but prone to breaking his own body. Hope he avoids injuries.
Why does anyone even bring up Jamal anymore?? He didn't even last one game last season. From that perspective, using a #1 on a player like this is SO much better than trading 1st round picks for a broken strong safety.....
@@randyrenner7643 How so? He's got hurt both of the past two seasons so it is completely relevant and his contract was extended such that he is the most expensive player on the defense = relevant.

I like the pick we couldn't get our QB we liked in the draft I think they wanted Richardson at 5 but he went at 4 so you get what you can get and maybe Geno has a better year with all this to work with Very Very Likely
At least they went with proven players instead of QBs that likely will be busts. Only issue is CB was not an area of need, and both players had ham string injuries.
Nobody is doubting Weatherspoon's talent but not to shore up a clear weakness by drafting Carter seems like a miss. Sure the Seahawks. could add to their d line later in the draft but the gap between Carter and his peers is massive. In a vacuum when the niners are putting up 200 plus rushing yards on the Seahawks this pick will amount to a wasted opportunity to fix a leaky front 7.
The problem with Witherspoon is that he doesn't have Troy Polamalu's frame. We can hype these kids till we're Teal Green in the face, but the fact remains that every single game in the NFL is worse than the most vicious NCAA game ever. DW's competition is the top 5% of the human genome and he's gonna have to learn to take care of his body. Those kamikaze blocks everybody is gushing about is going eff up a kid who is 6' even and only 180. And I really think this needs to be said here: I'm a Seahawk lifer... been a fan of the team since 1976 and counting. One MAJOR thing about Carroll that I've noticed is that he has absolutely no problem picking up a kid and 'driving it like it's stolen'. Any rookie that breaks himself before he's eligible for an extension is just another Richard Sherman or Marshawn Lynch that Carroll doesn't have to deal with. And if you think Pete Carroll isn't fully aware of that, you are **sadly** mistaken.

Yeah they have had a hell of a last 2 drafts...if they get an edge that surprises watch out...
If we can get Keanu Benton and John Michael Schmitz in the 2nd I'll be floored. Quite possibly a better draft than last year.

Witherspoon is starting first game, this guys a baller. Top 5 talent in this draft, at worst top 7 or 8 talent in the draft.
