I have the ELF Tea Rose Matte lipstick and I will say that depending on the lighting, your skin tone, and the rest of your makeup it may look different on you. I have a fair, cool/nuetral toned complexion and in some lighting the purple tone to it made me look a bit washed out, but it wasn’t bad and I would still wear it! It has a purple tone to it but it’s not enough that it looks bad on fair skin. I would recommend it! It’s nuetral and eye catching at the same time and I love it!

More of a gloss gal;) I do, however, really want to purchase blankety because every time you use it I think, ohhh, so pretty lol. You mentioned the blue undertones in one of them. I actually bought a sheer blue gloss from a shop on Etsy to apply over lip colors. The purpose in to make your teeth appear whiter. I, too, have very sensitive teeth. It actually works well and is a nice formula. One of my fave glosses is Tarte’s “natural beauty”. I finally got my CP Fame palette today...WooHoo! Love it. Speaking of lip colors, I wish I would have picked up their ultra glossy in secret weapon. I deleted from my cart at the last minute. Why??!! I’m looking forward to the upcoming videos you mentioned. My favorite lip colors! I have Urban Decays Backtalk and it’s definitely one of my faves! I use a lot of their liners in the “mauvey” range pretty much every time I wear lipstick, to add the right color I’m always going for....mauve haha!
Gorgeous choices, Arna!! My favourite mauve-nude is NARS Satin Lipstick in Rosecliff. It’s so pretty!!! I definitely recommend it because it’s quite similar to the mauve-nudes you showed. I think it has a touch of rosiness to it, though, which makes it extra lovely. Have you tried the new Urban Decay colour, ‘66,’ yet? It looks rather dark, but it looks awfully nice. It does have brown in it and it’s called a nude, so for me that makes it easier to wear. With the exception of NARS Dolce Vita, I can’t wear bright colours or dark ones-they just take over against my skin tone. It’s crazy, in my parent’s time, I would never have been considered fair. When I first got into makeup I was shocked that people considered me to be extremely fair, porcelain even! To me, fair, is someone who has translucent skin. You can see all their veins very well and when they flush, you see *everything.* That is truly fair. The trouble is that if I cannot find my shade in foundation, and I’m not even fair, what do they do? When my mother wore makeup in the 80’s she was able to find her perfect match. When I found out that Too Faced added 9 dark shades and only one ‘fair’ shade, I was stunned. And that was considered being inclusive! What about the pale girls! They matter, too! I would love to start my own makeup company dedicated to those of us who cannot find our shade and just do an entire range with all three undertones and colors for all shades of pale. The trouble is, I have no clue about how to go about doing that sort of thing. It’s a fantasy, but it’s a pleasant one.
I think it’s because POC have more trouble finding their shades AND the reasoning stems from racial discrimination. I think the industry is definitely moving towards more inclusivity on both ends of the spectrum x
Arna Alayne I don’t think it should be considered a racial issue. It’s just makeup, and POC and Caucasians are just different shades. I don’t think it’s a big deal, but that’s just me. I also don’t think either dark or pale girls have an easier or more difficult time finding their shade. I think it’s pretty equal, which is why Too Faced made me so angry. I’ve never found my shade *ever*--that’s pretty bad. Even the KVD concealer is a tiny bit too dark on me--and I’m not the fairest. They didn’t cover both ends (light and dark). Anyway, I totally respect what you said, I just don’t agree ( that POC have a harder time than we do). I really enjoyed hearing your point of view, Arna! Have a wonderful weekend! I just rewatched this because I enjoyed it so much. I loved Rebel, but I won’t buy it because it isn’t cruelty-free. (I just made the transition--hurrah!!) I have über sensitive teeth, so I use Sensodyne. They make a whitening toothpaste. I’ve never tried it, but a Crest whitening toothpaste did help subtly--it did make a difference. If you can’t get Sensodyne in Australia, I would check Amazon. I really hope this helps you out, dear Arna!! X
I struggle so hard pulling mauves off. They have to be just right or they'll pull too brown/purple on me which makes me look sick. I find it so odd that I struggle to find the right mauve because I'm a neutral undertone. If they lean a little pink, it's usually a go. I've admired Patina on you for FOREVER. My fave mauve I accidentally discovered with the Sephora birthday gift last year. I can't remember the name of it, but it's from Tarte. I think it does lean a bit pink. Mac Rebel will be a favorite lipstick of mine until it runs out. Good idea to pair it with a vampy lipliner! I'll have to try it in autumn! Wish Mac would go full on CF. 🐰💕

You should try black moon cosmetics lipsticks. The colors wrath and libra fit into this category and are absolutely gorgeous. Both would look wonderful on you. Also, I love how you had elf tea rose listed. It’s one of my go to lipsticks.
One of my favorite berry lipsticks is a dupe for Mac Rebel, Wet n' Wild Megalast in Sugar Plum Fairy. It was discontinued recently when they repackaged but elf just released a near identical shade with a very familiar name "Sugar Plum" in their new Srsly Satin $3 lipstick line.
I LOOOOVE mauve lipsticks *.* Try the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Toulouse - it's a new shade and became instantly a fave. other mauves I love: KvD Lovecraft and Urban Decay Rush (both warmer nude mauves), Mac Syrup, Bite Beauty Pastille *.*

I’m the same way. I can’t wear anything too bright or too dark. The only bright lipstick I can get away with is NARS Sheer Lipstick in Dolce Vita. It’s really pretty. My only mauve is a mauve-nude called Rosecliff, also by NARS. It’s really nice, but I agree it’s hard to pull off on fair skin. I can get away with it, though, so I do recommend trying it. The only two lipsticks I own that are not too dark on me are Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color in Blush (my favourite) and Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Bare. Those two are great pinky-browns and the Art Stick is a wonderful alternative to a liquid lipstick because it lasts for hours, unless you eat. After eating, though, it’s still there, just not as strong. I really hope this helped you!!
I think more saturated, deep lipstick, regardless of colours are what the makeup companies are going for now. Five years ago it was easier to find not so deep versions of colours. I'm keeping on to a tubes of lipstick and a tube of lipgloss, that's to old to wear, because I want to find dupes for them, but is so hard because everything is to deep and to satureted compared to them.

Those are some gorge lippies! The first was my fave tho...def want that. I bounce between the neutral-ish and the deep berry shades during winter cuz u def need that pop. Love how ur eyes and lips match👍🏻 I'm doing that in coral now cuz it's summer here and it works well with my not-tan.😂 I hope u get to try BeYu volume gloss at some point... the colors are amazing and I'm obsessed(the applicator tho is tragic..)💐
Have you tried Loracs matte lip crayon/pencil in Mauve? Very pretty color and not a drying formula. You can build it up to a brighter deeper color or sheer it out which is what I do, it leaves behind a stain.
I really want to pick up Urban Decay Backtalk, the comfort matte formula is one of my favourites. I also need MAC Rebel, I don’t know how I haven’t picked it up yet.
I picked up Tea Rose last night and oh. my. god 😍😍 This is the EXACT pale nude shade I’ve been looking for my entire life!! I’m very yellow undertoned, so on me it actually looks quite different than it does on you (even more purple-y) and I’m ecstatic!!! Thank you so much for that recommendation 😊 Do you use a lip liner with it, and if so, what one? That way I can compare and see if I have a lip liner that’s similar 💕 I can’t wait to try out Baci some time in the future once I start working again. Cheap brands like ELF are saving my life right now lol
It's funny how a lot of your favorite mauve lippies are some my favorites too. Have you tried Wet n Wild rebel rose before it's one of my favorite more darker mauve colors and I'm about the same shades in foundations that you are so it should look fab on you.
Love these colours! Where do you buy Elf in Aus? Also, a little while ago I mentioned I couldn’t find the palest shade of the too faced concealer you mentioned a couple times at Mecca. When I was in Melbourne I realized some of the Meccas in Sydney don’t carry the palest shades, but I could find them no problem in Melbourne.🤨 next time I need to buy it, I’ll call ahead to be sure the location has it. So, just wanted to pass that along in case anyone else in Sydney was frustrated with finding shades at Mecca! 🤓 On another random note, I saw your Instagram stories, but I don’t think I can comment or like them, but your pics and videos from your trip are lovely. My natural lip color is fairly mauve so mauves look pretty neutral on me. I've been going with gloss lately, and even more so now that it's getting hot in LA :P I can't be bothered to touch up a bold lip when it's 102 degrees out.
One of my favorite Mauve's is Cava by Bite Beauty also Thistle is really good too it's like Cava's deeper older sister As for Berry shades I don't really wear the the only one I have the ABH Heather's which is more burgundy. Ohh Pure Hollywood is a great mauve so is Requiem by Kat Van D. Cool Mauve nudes are my favorite go to colours besides going for the weird colours and/or metallic's. Oh and I had a decent video idea, you did makeup trends over the past 100 years you should do makeup trends from around the world pick a new country every video.
Mac brave was my favorite lipstick and blush (I used it that way) of all time if Mac ever stops being sold in China or the law changes or some magic happens that’s the first thing I’m going to buy. I can’t wear anything darker than rebel in my opinion I tend to look garish and I don’t know how to wear dark dark lipstick without looking that way. I also miss my Mac del rio :( but that was a Marsala color
The Sephora Cream Lip Stains in number 55 and 57 are my current faves for my fair cool/neutral pink undertone. One is more purple, the other a true dark rosy pink, and the formula lasts really well for me too.
Hi Arna. I really need your advice on something. I wanna order the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation tomorrow. But I can't seem to find any swatches online or anything! Do you know anything about it as far as color goes? Like I wear mac NC15 or too faced born this way in Swan. Do u think the lightest shade in the giorgio armani foundation (#2) would be similar? It's the lightest/neutral shade they got.
Ok but really though. Elf tearose looks like a nice mauve rosey something or other on you. On me, it literally looks like a very cool toned mauve grey purple. What gives? It's the same with Milani naked - it looks like an actual nude color on everyone else, but on me it looks like a cool deep grey purple. 🤔🤔🤔
Your skin tone and lip pigmentation can affect how lipsticks look, especially with more nude/mauve tones. Milani naked looks brown-grey on me, and I haven't owned tea rose in a very long time but I recall it pulling much cooler on me than it looks on Arna. A warmer mauve or nude would probably look more flattering on your skin if the elf and Milani are appearing very purple.
I second that the undertone of your skin and pigmentation of you lips will affect how the lipstick looks on you. I have the problem you are describing with L'Oréal Infallible Nudist Matte Lip Paint - 212 Nude-ist. It looks like a dark mauve in swatches, but when I get it on my lips it just lookes of. My slightly green and grey undertones doesn't match with it.
I agree! Corpse on me too, but I like to use it as a lip pencil /base layer for other colors that pull a little too brown on me. Creamier than a normal pencil so it's easy to get definition for my puffy lips that don't love dry lip liners.
I’d love to see a collection of dark vampy lip shades for fair skin if you have them.

I think more saturated, deep lipstick, regardless of colours are what the makeup companies are going for now. Five years ago it was easier to find not so deep versions of colours. I'm keeping on to a tubes of lipstick and a tube of lipgloss, that's to old to wear, because I want to find dupes for them, but is so hard because everything is to deep and to satureted compared to them.

Those are some gorge lippies! The first was my fave tho...def want that. I bounce between the neutral-ish and the deep berry shades during winter cuz u def need that pop. Love how ur eyes and lips match👍🏻 I'm doing that in coral now cuz it's summer here and it works well with my not-tan.😂 I hope u get to try BeYu volume gloss at some point... the colors are amazing and I'm obsessed(the applicator tho is tragic..)💐
Have you tried Loracs matte lip crayon/pencil in Mauve? Very pretty color and not a drying formula. You can build it up to a brighter deeper color or sheer it out which is what I do, it leaves behind a stain.

I picked up Tea Rose last night and oh. my. god 😍😍 This is the EXACT pale nude shade I’ve been looking for my entire life!! I’m very yellow undertoned, so on me it actually looks quite different than it does on you (even more purple-y) and I’m ecstatic!!! Thank you so much for that recommendation 😊 Do you use a lip liner with it, and if so, what one? That way I can compare and see if I have a lip liner that’s similar 💕 I can’t wait to try out Baci some time in the future once I start working again. Cheap brands like ELF are saving my life right now lol

It's funny how a lot of your favorite mauve lippies are some my favorites too. Have you tried Wet n Wild rebel rose before it's one of my favorite more darker mauve colors and I'm about the same shades in foundations that you are so it should look fab on you.

Also, a little while ago I mentioned I couldn’t find the palest shade of the too faced concealer you mentioned a couple times at Mecca. When I was in Melbourne I realized some of the Meccas in Sydney don’t carry the palest shades, but I could find them no problem in Melbourne.🤨 next time I need to buy it, I’ll call ahead to be sure the location has it. So, just wanted to pass that along in case anyone else in Sydney was frustrated with finding shades at Mecca! 🤓

My natural lip color is fairly mauve so mauves look pretty neutral on me. I've been going with gloss lately, and even more so now that it's getting hot in LA :P I can't be bothered to touch up a bold lip when it's 102 degrees out.

One of my favorite Mauve's is Cava by Bite Beauty also Thistle is really good too it's like Cava's deeper older sister As for Berry shades I don't really wear the the only one I have the ABH Heather's which is more burgundy. Ohh Pure Hollywood is a great mauve so is Requiem by Kat Van D. Cool Mauve nudes are my favorite go to colours besides going for the weird colours and/or metallic's. Oh and I had a decent video idea, you did makeup trends over the past 100 years you should do makeup trends from around the world pick a new country every video.

Mac brave was my favorite lipstick and blush (I used it that way) of all time if Mac ever stops being sold in China or the law changes or some magic happens that’s the first thing I’m going to buy.
I can’t wear anything darker than rebel in my opinion I tend to look garish and I don’t know how to wear dark dark lipstick without looking that way. I also miss my Mac del rio :( but that was a Marsala color

The Sephora Cream Lip Stains in number 55 and 57 are my current faves for my fair cool/neutral pink undertone. One is more purple, the other a true dark rosy pink, and the formula lasts really well for me too.
Hi Arna. I really need your advice on something. I wanna order the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation tomorrow. But I can't seem to find any swatches online or anything! Do you know anything about it as far as color goes? Like I wear mac NC15 or too faced born this way in Swan. Do u think the lightest shade in the giorgio armani foundation (#2) would be similar? Ok but really though. Elf tearose looks like a nice mauve rosey something or other on you. On me, it literally looks like a very cool toned mauve grey purple. What gives? It's the same with Milani naked - it looks like an actual nude color on everyone else, but on me it looks like a cool deep grey purple. 🤔🤔🤔
Your skin tone and lip pigmentation can affect how lipsticks look, especially with more nude/mauve tones. Milani naked looks brown-grey on me, and I haven't owned tea rose in a very long time but I recall it pulling much cooler on me than it looks on Arna. A warmer mauve or nude would probably look more flattering on your skin if the elf and Milani are appearing very purple.
Tea rose looked greyish on me too. I wish it looked like it did on Arna but it was a bit corpsy on me 😫
I second that the undertone of your skin and pigmentation of you lips will affect how the lipstick looks on you. I have the problem you are describing with L'Oréal Infallible Nudist Matte Lip Paint - 212 Nude-ist. It looks like a dark mauve in swatches, but when I get it on my lips it just lookes of. My slightly green and grey undertones doesn't match with it.
I agree! Corpse on me too, but I like to use it as a lip pencil /base layer for other colors that pull a little too brown on me. Creamier than a normal pencil so it's easy to get definition for my puffy lips that don't love dry lip liners.
