@@push8103 Fantano knows ksis potential and that’s why he’s defending him . He knows how good ksi can get and wants Ksi to see what he criticising about him so he write some more quality good music
@@ace.ethan7 I think fantano is defending ksi because at the end of the day ksi is a RUclipsr, not a full time musician so he cannot be held in the same regard as someone who’s full time job is music. People work on music for years and years to come up with something good, KSI’s songs (especially this one) are basically just a marketing tool for his other ventures
The thing is that he was actually passionate about his music, and that's what KSI lacks in general. He seemingly has no passion, and everything he creates is surface level slop, while even with the tracks that weren't as good, Joji's music always had passion. HELL, you could even feel his dedication, passion and enjoyment in his goofy tracks. That's also why you can tell when his albums aren't fully complete creatively, like his last one where they pushed him to string together the last bit of the album so they could sell it. *When you don't really care about making what you love, there's no difference.*
@@Zeverinsen thats just nonsensical. passion is completely irrelevant if you dont have good lyrics, wordplay, delivery, etc. and ksi is the definitive example of that
6:57 genuinely surprised by the lack of contextual understanding. People are hating on this song not only because it’s uninteresting and corporate, but also because KSI embarrassed himself while trying to defend his lunchly collaboration with mr. Beast and logan paul
You have to take the bad with the good... The praise of KSI's music career in the past has consistently been MASSIVELY inflated, due to his level of popularity and his more positive reputation at the time, rather than the actual quality of the music. Now that his reputation has slipped recently... he can experience the other side of that double edged sword when it comes to his musical ability
I think the reason that it got clowned on so much is because 'brainrot' was already a big meme and lunchly and prime were already memed on and this song just fitted in this picture.
you’re so right. the song’s not really as bad as people are making it out to be, just kinda mid. if this was released by anyone else or even if KSI just wasn’t in so much controversy at the moment then no one would care about it.

Going back to the comment of KSI promoting Prime in his video: EXACTLY! He ISN'T Dr. Dre. He ISN'T Rick Ross. They promoted BEATS; a staple just. They Promoted Cîroc, a common staple in many hip hop artists, just like lean. You didn't see Dr. Dre open a door leading to a shrine of Dr. Pepper in his music videos.
It's actually funny how much of a lack of self-awareness there is, considering the brand image that prime has... noone over the age of 12 drinks it, and its honestly so offensive to say "oh but how about rick ross promoting his alcohol???" My Brother In Christ you are not taken seriously im sorry to say but your audience is young children and you know this, how for a second could you think that that's an okay comparison to make ? honest delusion
@jackpriddy1591 ksi has zero self awareness. He recited a whole stormzy verse with double syllable rhymes because in his mind that justified the critiques people had for him rhyming "ring" with "ring"
I mean I guess marketing your own product isn't inherently bad, but the way he did it is the reason why it's getting clowned on aggressively. Like come on, did they not have a better idea than to reveal a whole room with a giant prime monolith in the middle, with the camera panning from the bottom like it's some kinda totem? The execution itself is so hilarious it almost looks satirical.

Honestly I didn’t really know fully why I hated it. Just sorta vaguely found it “corporate-sounding” and didn’t know why. You mentioning how it feels like a sales pitch, as well as the millennial “woooahh” part sounding corny and quite a few years past its time, really helped me kinda pinpoint the exact things that irked me and definitely validated my initial take on the song. I honestly think he is only defending it because he was browsing TikTok too much. There's no reason to normalise this type of garbage. It being common, doesn't even make it mediocre. It's just plain bad, uninspired and shallow. Yeah, people are exaggerating it a bit, but the song isn't even likeable. He himself didn't listen till the end, and it's 3 mins long!!!
Nah the song just sounds generic, its a nothing burger, yea your not gonna get much from a KSI song but its clearly made for commercial appeal that dropped at the time where he lost to a single tweet on the internet. @@viceversamusic Yes I'm sure KSI paid him to 'defend' him, while also telling him to confirm that the song was not very good and that a lot of KSI's music is corny and trash and disingenuous, you complete clown
The problem with this song is that every single line KSI drops is a filler bar. Like “this is how the story goes” in the context of the song means absolutely nothing, and could be replaced by basically any other bar with any other meaning and it wouldn’t change anything about the song. That laziness on top of the laziness in the melodies, and flows, and concept, actually does make this a very bad song. Sure it’s “listenable” in the sense that it’s produced well and doesn’t “sound” bad, but when you have the cash flow of KSI that should just be expected and the bare minimum, and not a plus to give to the song
I think a huge reason why its being hated on is the dantdm drama. Coming at a youtube og that is responsible for raising a generation in the way he did was not only unbelievably corny and stupid it was ridiculously unlikable. And if you’re going to be an idiot/asshole. You better back it up with good music. Shit thats absolutely undeniable. Thick of it is not that. Its generic at best and legitimately horrible at worst The reason why people didnt hate his past music as much is because ksi was liked up until recently.
Ksi has actually been making videos longer than Dan, so idk why people say Dan is an og and raised us when jj has done the same thing and has stayed relevant the whole time and dan actually came at the company first so I don't really get your point here? Ksi also has had solid music in the past mfs are just ignorant and don't know that so that's why he's getting sm hate rn.
@@Strawhatnino247 probably because more people were a fan of dan back in the day. Especially if you were a kid in the mid 2010’s and you werent quite old enough for jj. He made one tweet about the company itself. And it was completley valid. You shouldnt advertise a “healthier alternative” when 1 your product sucks and 2 a majority of your audience is predominantly children. Ksi (and logan) are also getting hate. Not mr beast. Why? Because mr beast had a very civil logical response and left it at that. Meanwhile ksi and logan have been legitimately crying nonstop. A majority of ksi’s and logans twitter have been constantly mentioning dan. Mfs arent ignorant because mfs werent slandering ksi before this. If you’re morally in the wrong you better have the talent to back it up. If ksi dropped holiday or down like that. Promise you the hate would not be as big
The problem with this line of thinking is that KSI and DanTDM literally came up in the same generation. He raised those kids just as much as Dan did. Not to say that I don't disagree that it was in poor taste for it to even come to where it did, but.

If this was released last year or even just a few months ago, no one would be this mad about it or clowning on it as much they are doing now even if its mid. This was the worst possible time to release it. Lunchly is getting lambasted, and he is constantly beefing with DanTDM who made ONE tweet about that product and people are making fun of him with Thick of It adding more fuel to the fire. He has such a fragile ego that is easy to manipulate.
This guy dropped a song about how awesome and “kingly” he is midway through him having a meltdown over a Minecraft RUclipsr making ONE tweet about his terrible food product.
i'm in south america, basically he isn't important here. and I came across some hate towards it through memes, so I went to check the song and really couldn't understand what was so bad about it. not saying it's a banger, but like, it's just a mid-ass youtuber song really. so I came to the conclusion that it had to do with context and who he is basically lol
I think the only reason the song is getting as much hate as it is, is the way it was promoted. People saw him being insufferable on twitter and knew this would be a good way to stick it to him. The song is mid but the main reason the song is getting the reaction it's getting is the way KSI handled himself on twitter and for partnering up with other hated creators for business ventures. P.S. the hook is super cringe though definitely worthy of getting goofed for.

The point is that they're both just as corny, like take lucid dreams for example, that song has an incredibly corny hook that's trying to sound deeper than it actually is. Lucid dreams is essentially an emo rap version of a Taylor Swift song. Both thick of it and Lucid dreams sound like they were written by 13 year olds, in a different way, one trying too hard to make himself sound cool, the other is trying too hard to make a basic situation he was in, sound deeper than it actually was
My biggest beef with the song is that KSI takes himself so seriously and cannot accept criticism of the song. That, plus the “where’s my crown” line when describing his accomplishments such as his boxing career, and the awful prime product placement.

Idk if its just a spur of the moment statement from KSI because of the hate or he's just more sensitive to comments about his own work (tbh I probably would be too) but it seems like the way he values your opinion is a complete 180 from what it used to be
One thing that wasn't mentioned was the one-sided, borderline harassment against DanTDM, him releasing this hollow advertisement or to ksi a "song" fell a lot harder than it would without the beef
not harassing though like I'm not a crazy fan but anyone on twitter should know a tweet is liable to get any type of response from bots to trolss and whatnits and due too it being online you don't necessarily have to back up your tweets or opinions as no one is going to be able to hit back at you as they would do in real life unless your famous but ksi fan base aren't like crazy and attack anyone he has beef with
From the king to the crown to the ring to the other thing, yeah this song blows but compared to the youtuber competition… Might as well be the choir of angles. We live in such a attention economy that him playing into the hate probably benefits his brand moreso than people just forgetting about the song for what it is, kinda mediocre.

Some of the lyrics are a bit corny but I agree that its a lot more listenable than most people act like it is. It had potential to be a decent song but also the music video really topped it off for most people being the most cringe part and paired with all the lunchly beef and KSI's pathetic twitter rants, its no wonder people are clowning on his song that just seems so forced and corporate at this point.
Haven’t listened to the original, don’t give a melon’s stache about KSI, and in isolation, I couldn’t care less about the song. It’d be a “5/10 it’s a masturbatory song from a rich creator I don’t watch”. But IN context, I just think the non-stop elbow drops he’s been catching are really fucking funny.
Dated… that’s the word I was looking for. There was something about this song that made me think early to mid 2010s but I couldn’t describe it. It wasn’t trash but there was an off-putting element to it. Thanks Fantano, you summed it up perfectly.
Fantano has been online for way too long not to know exactly what is going on here. He seems 99% there but is trying to make it deeper than it is. It's not good music, from a not very good guy who had already just had a major one sided beef with a more beloved creator, has an unashamed shady business that is currently getting attention, and when you talk about the music, it triggers him. Or at least it seems to, maybe he's a marketing genius. It's trolling. It's literally just trolling. It's not even for attention, it's people knowing their drop in the bucket will help make him pop off And considering that he is 100% doing it to himself, and it's such a cookie cutter song with such simple and tacky melody and lyricism anyways, nobody really minds that people are poking him extra hard. As a creator he should know how to act online and if he's serious about music he should've known those would be critiqued lol (that Melon does mention). Instead he's yelling at his chat about how he doesn't understand rhyme schemes and wants you to take him super seriously. But even if the song WAS good, people would still be throwing poop at it because he is acting like a fool
@@lukes9192 you think you are disagreeing with the videobut you really aren't Everything you've said, he's said it just with different words altogether
In my opinion KSI comes from the "All publicity is a good publicity" school of thought. As I think this is all meant to be, he and his team are marketing geniuses. They put out the song, people expectedly hate on it, they made him make tens of videos reacting and re-reacting to influencers, famous RUclipsrs and so on to gain even more and more publicity. It's all so obvious and outdated but it apparently still works. His music is doing good (in numbers) and it will continue to do so. why change what's actually working?
@@squelchedotter But you as the artist still have to take that material, go to the booth, and record your tracks. KSI still approved of and recorded the track.
Hard disagree. Every Friday, I put on Tidal's 'New Music' recommendations and listen to 30-40 songs. I don't look at the artist, I just react to what I'm hearing. This song came on and I genuinely thought it was ass, and that was just in comparison to other new songs that came out that day. I made a judgement purely on the song, and then afterwards I checked the artist and saw it was KSI, which obviously didn't surprise me. The song just isn't good, no matter who made it.
Honestly if this video had a different opinion, different intro, different outro, different sound effects, different youtuber and a different message, it could've gone hard 🔥
is the hate not just a marketing ploy, in the same way that Elvis's manager sold 'I hate Elvis' badges, he's just capitalising on the fact a lot of people hate him, and using their hatred and hunger to chase content to push the song forward?
Ehhh it’s really hard to say usually I would say yes but I don’t think so. Trippie redd is featured on the song which kinda proves to me he was really trying here. I don’t think he would make a meme song and have him on it and agree to it.
I can't see it benefiting him in the long run though; coming across as a whiny goofball is surely gonna alienate some of his core teen audience who perceive him as "cool".
Wrecking your brand for 1 week at 86 in the Billboard charts. Really? I think people too often attribute to good marketing what can be attributed to crashing out.
@@AidenAlien that's not the point. Paying lots of money for "good" engineers doesn't mean the end product will be necessarily good, there's been cases regardless of the budget in which the production value is way below expected of certain artist. There are also low budget projects with high production quality, but sound production is just only one aspect of a song. I think it has to do more with the artists engagement on the song and how exactly they want it to make it sound. Therefore, I think KSI's commitment on releasing good quality songs doesn't lean on having a big budget.
Did you even watch the video? Or did you just read the title and thumbnail and assume that Fantano is in any ways giving praise to the song… also I swear he talked about his opinion on underground trap literally this week…

11:00 100% right. Joji did it the best from who he was known as
The thing is that he was actually passionate about his music, and that's what KSI lacks in general.

Going back to the comment of KSI promoting Prime in his video:
EXACTLY!

It's not even for attention, it's people knowing their drop in the bucket will help make him pop off
And considering that he is 100% doing it to himself, and it's such a cookie cutter song with such simple and tacky melody and lyricism anyways, nobody really minds that people are poking him extra hard. As a creator he should know how to act online and if he's serious about music he should've known those would be critiqued lol (that Melon does mention).
@1:48 well yah if your a millionaire it makes sense to pay good engineers bro lol
jake paul and ricegum are both millionaires, yet they still released unmixed bad songs
@@tahlermohz so? Does it not still then make sense to pay good engineers?
@@AidenAlien that's not the point. Paying lots of money for "good" engineers doesn't mean the end product will be necessarily good, there's been cases regardless of the budget in which the production value is way below expected of certain artist. There are also low budget projects with high production quality, but sound production is just only one aspect of a song.
I think it has to do more with the artists engagement on the song and how exactly they want it to make it sound. Therefore, I think KSI's commitment on releasing good quality songs doesn't lean on having a big budget.
@@geravva7118 you really dont think most of the time when you pay great engineers they do a great job? Your talking about fringe cases
It's wild that Fantano hates Rage/Underground Trap more than KSI and Melodic Trap with Generic Guitar Beats now. 💀
Did you even watch the video? Or did you just read the title and thumbnail and assume that Fantano is in any ways giving praise to the song… also I swear he talked about his opinion on underground trap literally this week…
@@jacoL8 he did praise the song
Bro you voiced my exact thoughts with the juice wrld and yt comments part
14:16 Didn't KSI mention in the past that he's a huge fantano fan and was satisfied with a score of 5 on his album? What changed?
From a fanboy to not caring about his opinions
"Hating KSI is easy and popular".
The problem is, liking him was also easy and popular. He's just now seeing the reverse of what saw him make millions of pounds for not very much before.
Have you tried lunchly? Lunchly review?
I think you’re just wrong here, you seem to glaze over the fact that most people’s reactions weren’t that the song was bad, but corny. It was produced alright and his cadence wasn’t bad, it was just the image it portrayed of ksi was one that was overwhelmingly grand yet childish too. As many people said it sounds like a minecraft intro, and that’s what people are hating on (clowning), which is just the lack of maturity and proper self reflection that a song should have for a more mature audience
Thick of It has so much buzz because of the marketing and the Mr Beast drama
@4:29 welcome to the interent.. its a race to copy the most popular meme to feed off the algo now.. no one is orginal anymore
There are plenty of creatives out there, they're just never recognized
Yeah ngl it's been bad for a while but it feels like it's getting more intense now? We're approaching the singularity point where every single post is just that same awful "what's your film/game/music opinion that would have the COMMUNITY at you like THIS" *gun emoji*
