I don't have any pro saws but I love my older Husqvarna 340, Its a great running hard workin' smaller saw. Its displacement is 41cc, similar to your 242XP. I personally think Echo is underrated. I don't have a vintage saw but I know the quality of my CS-590 Timberwolf and its my biggest saw. Echo can run with Husqvarna and Sthil, that's for sure. I just prefer Husqvarna and Echo to Sthil because they're more competitively priced. Poulan has a soft spot in my heart to because it was the first saw I ever ran.
Welcome Richard!!! Your right on the echos! They sure are underrated, that cs 590 is a surprising saw when you muffler mod it. They are so stifled down do to emissions I’m surprised they run! Poulans are great saws when you have the right models! Poulans get bashed because of the junk they produce now. But the old ones are great!
How big is the pipe on the lil 242?? I put a 3/4 conduit pipe in my 268xp and it runs good....i was thinkin 1/2" conduit pipe for the lil 242xp.... i dont wanna go to big on it... lol Thank you
Mines got 3/4 steel brazed in. It won’t hurt it if you tune it correctly. I probably wouldn’t go no bigger than 3/4 though cause then it would just use more fuel and wash the cylinder dry

Lumberjacks the original is just a small vented outlet on my saw. I installed a 3/4in pipe into my muffler. You can take a stepper bit, and cut a bigger holes strait through your existing pipe if you have that style muffler on yours. I just brazed mine in for a cleaner look but it can be welded. Thank you!

The 200 series Huskey saws are my favourite. I have the 266 and 272. I just picked up a 575 and my old 266 will cut circles around it.
