    This is fascinating stuff. I grew up during Helen Reddy and her crusade to convince women that they were just the same as men except prettier. Well, ok, there are obvious enough physical differences that Reddy could not deny (despite her lyrics ("If I want to, I can do ANYTHING" -actually, No, you Can't- and neither can men-) This was , I believe, based on the assumption/perception being pushed that men had it better than women, and that women were being taken for granted and not given enough respect by men. Gray's technical and scientific report indicated that women are indeed NOT the same, so let's try to understand why they don't react to things the same way as we men do, so we can better recognize this as FACT, not STIGMA. I have always said (to the effect of) Viva La Difference - women and men are SPECIALISTS, and one helps the other.

    The reason women make requests by asking "Would you like to do xyz?" is because women don't like being directly accountable for things they want. They like phrasing things in such a way where they can later deny responsibility for it later on, if they need to. That's the point of phrasing requests indirectly like that.

      not really.
      you know nothing about women.

    He also needs to give this information to women, so they can understand how destructive radical 3rd wave feminism is to their health and their relationships with men, hurting the future of our species.

      yeah and men are addicted to p0rn and videgames and are literally manchilds who can't control their emotions...even if you're not a feminist (and I'm not) the quality of men is so low, add poor hygiene, balding, belly/chubbyness...even the men with full time employment are addicted to p0rn, are on some medication (drugs), smoke...it's appaling

    I was at this talk at the Book Passage way back then. And I still see John strolling in Mill Valley. We spoke recently and he is a different man than he was in this video. For a good reason because he found love again after his wife passed away tragically from cancer in 2018. He married Lin Wang on May 4, 2020. She was his long-time tour guide and translator from China and she is 30 years younger than him. He said she keeps him young and has found his soul mate for the ret of his life. Just a beautiful story for a beautiful man.

      I can't say for other women (I guess it likely comes down to the fact that every individual is unique), but I was also very confused as to why I related considerably more to the male characteristics and behaviors, until I learned that I was on the autism spectrum. My conclusion is that there are other planets in the Solar System that haven't yet been quite sufficiently explored for all of us to know with clarity just where it is we're from.

      @@StarlitSwamp Not sure that is related.

    • @StarlitSwamp
      @StarlitSwamp 4 года назад

      @@nofybn7794 Sorry, I sometimes rely on analogies and metaphors too much. I wasn't referring to actual space exploration, but to the idea that there might be more nuance to human nature than our traditional views of male and female as a the main defining pillar of identity--in other words, you're either from Mars or Venus and there's no in-between, or other "planets" out there you might feel that you belong to even more than those two.
      Now, I do believe that men and women in general tend to feel and think differently in many regards, and Dr. Gray's book has helped me make some sense of my loved ones' reactions and behaviors. I was just kind of reflecting out loud on my perplexing realization that as a neurodivergent individual, I can't relate to the characteristics typically associated with my own gender at all, and while I recognize myself a little more in descriptions of the opposite sex, it doesn't seem quite right either. I think that's largely because there are other variables impacting how my brain was wired and works, in an even more fundamental way, which makes my interactions with people very complicated regardless of their gender.
      That is why, based on this image of Mars and Venus, I rather feel like I'm from elsewhere entirely. Or maybe just the Moon : not even a planet, but a small, quiet world that's somewhere in-between, but that's not part of the Earth... I don't know. I often come up with random associations that seem odd to others, so don't mind me if I'm just rambling nonsense.

    I love the guys here talking about women in the work place and woman having equality as if that is why relationships are failing. Well then maybe if ALL men could earn a decent living for the family all on his own then maybe we could stay home and raise kids and be June Cleaver! Pffffft

      What does equality mean to you? Men and women were created equal, only with different roles. Neither is better than the other. I sure wouldn't want to do my husband's work.

      I guess so. :)
      Heh, that's an old comment. Back then, I wrote that because in my native language (French), to be "in the Moon" means to have one's head in the clouds, and I figured I spent more time up there than down on any actual planet.
      I had also just found out that I was autistic and I'd seen a little animation on the subject titled "My Little Brother from the Moon". I thought it made sense that I'd be from there too, given that I didn't feel like I belonged either on Venus or Mars...
