Let's make no mistake - I used to work with a lady from Bangladesh, she was married, Muslim, tiny and shy - really chill. She trained alongside me, had her side-hustle, was eventually relaxed enough to ask for my advice on things (I was literally the best in training - I'm quite driven, and respect others who are) - I treated her like an equal - "Oh, you're Muslim? As-salamu alaykum friend!". She barely spoke to anyone else.
I could tell she wasn't really confident talking to men specifically, and I'm very aware of how Islam treats women - so I was extra polite and understanding, full of compliments. Wonderful person, very driven, deserved some confidence. Pains me that her friends and family were obviously so doubtful of her.
People like her, they're very welcome here - in my opinion.
Fact is - Bangladesh is a safe country and 40% of Bangladeshi in the UK receive social housing, and we have a housing crisis. It's Islamic (cultural conflict) and quite disproportionate when it comes to modern slavery - look at the Leicester textiles scandal - about 10,000 women paid about £2.16 an hour. That's just not legal. We have a minimum wage. Women are not second class citizens. Islam isn't above the law. We won't tolerate it.
We need to be selective over who we take.
Because we don't want this to become the norm.
Women are much less threatening to to the Western idea of secularism, and the West in general. I don't want to be sexist - but maybe the feminists are right about immigration specifically. Asylum specifically though - robbing any country of their fighting age men isn't support.
In the West masculinity is synonymous with protecting women and children.

Im voting Reform. Starmer isn’t getting elected because people are supportive of Labour but because we’re in a two party system and have had 14 years of incompetence from the incumbents. I cannot understand the stupidity of Reform voters. Not much of a brain is needed to know when the votes of 35-40% of the rightwing vote is split Labour, Lib Dems or SNP take that seat. An analysis showing seats Scottish Conservatives were likely to win now goes mostly to SNP and 1 to Labour because of the Reform vote. For example the Scottish borders seats are now likely to go to SNP. In England the consequences of an enormous Labour win spells disaster for our country with an opposition so small it will be unable stop the life changing and removal of freedoms a Labour government intends to bring in. The Scottish GRR (Gender recognition Reform) bill and the Hate Crime bill which was only voted against by Scottish Conservatives Starmer wants to strengthen and make law for Scotland England and Wales..
I agree about frustration. In France too, some analysts think that the 2 parties system is part of the problem of the coming to power of far-right and assimilated, and that the president has too much power in France. It's their opinion, I don't have any about that.

There is an established and growing majority centre right community which are happy for minorities to weaken the Labour Party's number installed in Parliament after the election . Ali doesn't know the history of Bangladesh. It was east Pakistan. when a Bengali was elected the prime minister for whole of Pakistan, the pak army went and killed thousands of them and with a goal of changing the future generations, raped thousands of women. Bangladeshi were Muslim as well but coz they didn't speak Urdu and were dark skinned, west Pakistan considered them as lower class. Armen, pls do an episode on this topic.

Labour Party is not popular here. Reform UK party lead by Nigel Farage is the most popular. But because people are infuriated with the failures and treachery of the Conservative Party, they are voting for other parties not necessarily Labour or not voting at all. Labour will win just because Conservatives are collapsing. Sadly, we are going to elect a government nobody wants.
That makes no sense. They could vote Reform if they're mad at the 2 ruling parties.
Read back your post on this topic, it makes no sense at all. If Reform was the most popular party it would be leading the polls and then be forming the next government. That’s the way democracy works. As we have have a ‘first past the post’ electoral system it could be that the ‘winning’ party does not get the overall majority vote across the whole country .

It’s well known that most Indian restaurants in the UK are owned by Bangladeshis. The only reason they call them Indian restaurants is because when they started them back in the 70s it was confusing for British people to call them Bangladeshi Restaurants. It is one of the biggest food industries in the UK. In fact the number one dish sold in any restaurant in the UK is a tikka masala.
