What does split ends do to your hair?

The split end might look small on its own, but split ends throughout your hair make your ends look frizzy, scraggly, and unhealthy. ... Split ends are a sign that your hair is damaged, and needs a trim.
Split ends are a sign of damaged, often unhealthy, hair. ... Once it splits, your hair will continue splitting further and further all the way up the shaft of your hair until it reaches the root. Then you're in real trouble, because split ends make your already damaged hair more susceptible to further damage and breakage..

Is Mayonnaise good for split ends?
This might be a little difficult to believe but can actually be helpful in preventing split ends and making your hair shinier. Exposure to sun, wind and even pool water can dry your hair and cause split ends. Just rub some paste of mayonnaise in your palms and apply on hair ends to prevent split ends...!!!
