    A little about me:
My name's Minoo, and I'm originally from Iran.
I obtained my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Diploma in England in 1985.
Since then, I've been an English teacher, teacher trainer, and course director in various schools and countries. I'm also a trained confidence coach.
In 2008, my son, Tom, and I set up the Anglo-Link platform for online English studies.
This led to the creation of our popular RUclips channel in 2011.
My passion is to share with you what I've learnt on my own English language journey, both as a student and as a teacher, so that you can become a fluent speaker of English too.

I wouldn't use 'I had been writing when he came in' unless I wanted to say for how long: 'I had been writing for several hours when he came in.' If you just want to express that the action of him coming in took place during the action of you writing, then keep it to the Past Continuous: 'I was writing when he came in.'

You can use 'since' with both PP and PPC, but with two different ideas:
    1. One action that started in the past and continues or has just stopped: PPC: I have been waiting here since 9:00.
    2. Several actions that have already been completed: PP: I have written ten e-mails since 9:00.

There are two videos in this channel on Modal Verbs:
    1. can, could, may, might & 2. will, shall, would
'Was' and 'were' are the past Tenses of the verb 'to be'. You can study these on the Anglo-Link website under 'Exercises - Anglo-File 101 - Verb 'to be'.

Yes, you can use this tense, but then ideally, you should also include a point in time and the length of time:
If the bus doesn't come BY 10, I'll have been waiting for the bus FOR AN HOUR for no reason.

Anglo-Link is for me the best youtube series about English grammar.
I've made two mistakes. I've chosen two times the future perfect continuous tense instead of the future perfect tense
although there was no information in the sentence for how long the action was going on.

Grammatically, only shall is used in the future forms of I and We. But at 2:51 the auxiliary used is will.

    • @AngloLinkEnglish

Thank you so much for your great video, as always. I have a question about the present perfect tense without a specific time reference like this. Is it correct to say "Imposing carbon tax has long been a controversial policy" or "Imposing carbon tax has been a controversial policy for decades"?

    Hello! Greatings from Italy!
First of all: thank you for your lessons, I really appreciate all of them!
I have a few questions about Part 1, sentence #8: "If the bus doesn't come, I will have waited for the bus for no reason."
    Question A)
My first anser was: "If the bus doesn't come, I have been waiting for the bus for no reason."
I know that brits usually use continuous when they add length of time info, but does it sound good? Or doesn't it?
    Question B)
Does "If the bus doesn't come" imply a future action due a tacit time-table?
    T&R,
    AB

      Greetings form the U.K.!
Indeed, you can also use Future Perfect Continuous without necessarily specifying the length of time. Be careful not to omit the 'will' though:
If the bus doesn't come, I WILL HAVE BEEN WAITING for the bus for no reason.

Why HAVE you put on ...? There is no reference to the exact time of the action. It has happened some time today.
