Something SO weird just happened to me.... I'm not a big Nascar guy but as a kid in the late 90s/early 2000s my dad and I would watch the race every Sunday. Mind you, I haven't seen a single race in years, but decided a few minutes ago I wanted to re-live some nostalgia and at least see some names I remembered (thanks, Nascar Rumble for the PS1). So I went up to the search bar. Picked the year 2001 out of the blue, waited a couple seconds for any track name to pop in my head and picked Charlotte out of the blue, and added Full Race at the end. And of course, this EXACT RACE, 2001 Charlotte in its entirety, is the MOST RECENTLY uploaded video on the official Nascar channel. Premiered 10 hours ago. I could've typed Bristol, Daytona, anything. I could've typed 2000, 2004, 1985, anything. But 2001 Charlotte. And not even a snippet either, the whole entire race. So weird.
If you want to talk about weird stuff. I decided to watch this race while eating leftovers. I sit down and get an ad for Applebee's. My leftovers? Applebee's. I crack open a tall can of beer. The brand? Coors light.
I was here! Sitting by firefighters, and first responders - what an amazing day.
First race for JIMMAY
the race was scheduled to air on NBC but because of the start of the war it got moved to TNT for this afternoon race
TNT needs to come back in a few years
And that's why the coverage seems so disjointed at the beginning, as all NBC references had to be replaced with TNT with essentially 10-15 minute notice that TNT was going to take over.

Ward burton with a 3rd in this race. Gotta love the early 2000s nascar
Gotta love top comments spoiling the race
@@youtubeaccountlol4942 race happened 20 years ago
@@chefboyardee2497 great observation, really informative - I'm obviously watching the race because I don't remember everything I watched when I was 3. tf? 😂😂
I think 3 Dodges finished the top 10 in this race
The cars sounded so good back then
Jimmie's Winston debut, very nice
And Stuart Kirby #75
@@DarkVoid718Too bad the #44 Georgia Pacific Dodge Intrepid RT of Buckshot Jones and the #45 Sprint PCS Dodge Intrepid RT of Kyle Petty failed to qualify
Can you reupload in the original 4:3?
Thanks NASCAR for the upload.
I forgot how damn bumpy this track used to be.
Damn I love that red #8 Budweiser Chevy.
The cars look so nervous I bet they were hard to drive fast, today’s cars sit so well on the track
And those engines were absolutely screaming going into the corner at 190+.
Ah yes, where it all began for the 48.
Do You Like Stanton Barrett ☺
@@jefferyrobertson7520 Srry bud, don't know who that is.
@@hudsboy1049 Stanton Barrett Was NASCAR Drivers Hollywood Actor and Stunt ☺
@@jefferyrobertson7520 Huh. I guess that's cool..
That #48 Chevy is also known as "The First 48"
Everyone remembers McMurray's upset win in his 2nd career start in the 02 Charlotte race, but many forget that the same car won this race in 01.
That's how good the Dodge Silver Bullet was in the early 2000s.
Of course the Silver Bullet #40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid RT led the 2002 Cup Series point standings
My Favorite NASCAR Car Brand Buick and Chevrolet From The Early 90s ☺
Both 2002 ROTY contenders wrecked in the same corner
Was this Jimmie Johnson’s first race in the Cup series?
So, where's the recent race from Talladega? That should have been posted by now.
Jimmays first start
THE SILVER BULLET
God damn they used to pack the grandstands at Charlotte
At all the races.
Thanks.
No full race replay of talladega??!
It was last week.
@@SincerelyWX exactly and it's still not up, its normally up in 2 days.
@@astontapper8543 oh I thought you meant the classic race . Not the past week. My apologies.
Cropping off the bottom of the 4:3 broadcast looks terrible.
Unnecessary cropping is unnecessary
let's go Brandon!!
Love these Lightning McQueen shaped cars
Had no idea Jimmie raced in ‘01
This was his Cup Series debut
Why hasn't this weeks Talladega race been uploaded?
because its not interesting
@@bowmanshowman48fan99 the actually racing was the best on a superspeedway in years but people throw a hissy fit because of the winner and the fact they didn't race in the rain
@@saintsfan270 im not complaining about the winner im just saying its not interesting because it was rain delayed. What I mean is compared to all of the other superspeedway races that had insane finishes, this one turned it down a little bit, so it's not as memorable or exciting as some of the other races.
Thank you so much for 16:9 NASCAR even though the bottom is cut some, it still looks great to have the screen filled! Would love you guys to upload more 2004-2006 races, I know y’all have a lot of those in 16:9 considering they were filmed like that at the time.
2002 Uaw Gm Quality 500 is better than this one I feel like
My apologies for my temper. So sorry guys 😔
Anthony DeLoreto needs to stop complaining.
PLEASE don't crop these videos... completely ruined.
EA SPORTS
Why so many empty seats? Wasn't this the peak?
Yeah, but the fall Charlotte race never drew what the 600 did which is what the track was built out for. The economy was also taking a dump in 2001 too.
@@rebelracing88 Not only was the economy in the dumps in 2001, but this race took place 3 weeks after 9/11, and some people were still scared to meet in large public gatherings at the time.
Lets go
Why is the picture so zoomed in? Ruined it.
Problem with this video is that they didn’t race on the ROVAL back in the day.
It was real racing back then. No gimmicks
