  • Reconcilliation week is a time for all Canberrans to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Through the Justice & Community Safety (JACS) Reconciliation Action Plan, we’re working towards reconciliation by giving all the members of our Agency the resources they need to understand and share in Aboriginal culture.
Under the theme, more than a word - reconciliation takes action, members are encouraged to deliver their own Acknowledgment of Country, just like this powerful statement by Wiradjuri woman and JACS staff member, Jaimie Vincent.
Acknowledgments can be delivered at the start of gatherings or events, and are a way to say thank you to the Ngunnawal land, waters, and people for having you in their home. Anyone can say an acknowledgement, you don’t have to be Indigenous or from the region you are acknowledging. #NRW2021
