In Poland we say "Na zdrowie" which means 'For health" and if you really experience a hangover anything that's sour tastes so awesome. Pickle juice (best is made at home while making pickles, food stuff is ugly) is really good. Did you taste red beetroot base for the soup? It's very similar in taste. Just go for the fermented cucumbers instead of pickle - pickle is based on vinegar while cucumber one is based on water with salt and garlic and dill.
How to tell someone is slavic. For cheers we say our version of "For health" (Na zdrave/На здраве for Bulgarian) and we find pickle juice good tasting.
With the Polish solution for hangover you have been almost correct, we do drink pickled cucumbers water for hangovers, but it's water in which cucumbers were fermented but not pickled with vinegar. Just cucumbers, water, salt, garlic and some herbs left for a few days-weeks (Just like kimchi!). After the cucumbers are pickled, the water contains a lot of priobiotic bacteria and that's what really helps with hangover. Polish and Koreans really do love their fermented vegetables ;) Cheers!
Guys, the pickle juice we drink in Poland to cure hangovers is definitely not vinegary pickle juice. The one we would go for and the one that works best for me is salty pickle juice (ogórki kiszone in Polish). It may sound gross, but when you're hungover the salt and the sourness of the fermented cucumber are

I'm from Poland and I don't think that I've seen my dad drink pickle juice for a hangover (but I can ask him), it's more popular to drink a beer if you've got a hangover 😂
But pickle juice, my dad drinks it often just so that it doesn't go to waste and because it's good, I personally don't really like pickle juice I prefer sweet paprika pickle (ogórki korniszone) juice, it's made in a similar way as pickles but the "juice" for it is sweet-sour & you add paprika to it so that it has a paprika flavor and it's soooo good and I love the juice from it, I really like the sour taste (from vinegar) together with the sweetness from the paprika, it's kind of like a kick especially in the morning xd
Maybe I should send you a jar of my grandmothers pickles & sweet-sour cucumbers?
Also in Poland we usually eat while drinking so that we won't have any hangover in the first place

Te słodkie ogórki to zło najgorsze
Any polskis use to drink boiled onion and sugar juice when they were ill? I was given that as a kid all the time. It was disgusting
