    Awesome truck!
    I’m working on building one at the moment, but I’m installing a 8.3 Cummins on mine.
    Are you using stud pilot center hubs or hub pilot center for the wheels? Thanks

    • @cabovergary
      @cabovergary  Год назад +1

      Thanks! That’s cool I had a 8.3 powered little freightliner and that was a great little motor. The cat in this one I was lucky. I had good luck with it the whole time I owned it but I have heard horror stories with them. The truck had stud pilot wheels. I remember got lucky and bought them as brand new wheels off a guy that bought them then realized they wouldn’t work for his pickup. If remember right I only paid like 300 for the 6 of them. Haha. I would love to see your project sounds like a fun one. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    I have a 2000 regular cab low profile C6500 with factory full load interior but I really want to swap in a dash and door panels from a 97-98 in it... Did you use a heat and air box from a 96-00 obs interior or did you some how make the topkick 88-94 c/k climate control switches work with the 96-00 climate control switches I left 95 out as that's a one year only controller

    • @cabovergary
      @cabovergary  6 месяцев назад +1

      It’s been 15 years since I built that truck but I belive the boxes were the same. My cab was a 99 off a 3500 and the dash was a 95 but I’m 90% sure I used the 99 box in it. I do remember when i welded the dog house floor in I welded it a tad high and had to trim and fiber glass the bottom of the box. Sorry can’t remember more but would love to see pictures.

    • @cabovergary
      @cabovergary  6 месяцев назад +1

      So, I do remember the end where it connects to the rest is different and I cut the ends off swapped welded, sleeved it and welded the sleeve in place. Wasn’t too bad to do that.

    What did you need to do to the cab to get the hood to mount up?

    • @cabovergary
      @cabovergary  4 месяца назад +1

      I trying to think and for the hood believe only had to mount the quarter fenders but no cutting. Now to use that cab I had to cut the dog house out and put it in the pickup cab and then make a spot for the clutch cable but think that was it. Sorry took so long to answer

  • @richardjenkins3483
    @richardjenkins3483 Месяц назад +1

    How hard was the cab swap

    • @cabovergary
      @cabovergary  Месяц назад +2

      Not that bad. I’d remember right the dog house had to be cut out and transferred and the cable clutch had to have a stop made. Also, the newer steering column shaft was different and the push rod for the brake had to be modified to work with air brakes. For the cab mounts I just bought a pair of front Topkick cab mounts and used them for the rear mounts. Hope that rambleing made sense. Was bringing back memories typing this.
