I would be so overloaded with all the info., need and want for every orchid species, and just amazement for the diversity of orchid species. So jealous!
Thank you! I really enjoyed your tour. It was concise, with easy to follow, great to know tips and the filming excellent. I will certainly get to Andy's next time we get to the coast. I am in the Phoenix area so orchid growing can be daunting at times but it is a passion. I am really looking forward to other orchid nursery tours and, of course, your own orchid journey.
It's sad that most shows aren't happening this year. Hopefully it will get better soon. If you make it down to the San Diego area, there's more than one place to visit for orchids :)
Ophrys sphegodes ssp. sphegodes is native in my area (Central Europe) and it should be fully hardy along the Pacific coastline. It likes a mix mostly made of anorganic matter because it rots easily. It seems to depend on its symbiotic fungi for protection from other microbes which makes the long-term culture a bit challenging. Some people use a mix of sand, pumice, potting soil and loam, or just pure sand while others grow it planted outside in their garden soil. The media should be neutral to basic. At least im my area, summers receive as much rain as winters, maybe a bit less but still 2.5 inches, so there is no dry season. In its native habitats in my area, water drains away very quickly, so the soil is never wet. Plants from more southern populations may receive little to almost no rain in summer.
@@AttainableGreen I think you will have succes, plants originating in the mediterranean area should feel just like home along the California coastline👍👍👍
They don't answer the phone and the website is confusing to navigate. I wish they had a better more user friendly website.. It looks so beautiful. I would love to order...
Yea, the website is not the most user-friendly. I tend to browse via the Orchid Listings or Search function. Email may be a better option than calling via phone. Good luck!
Love orchid nusery tours! I just wished RUclipsrs did longer tours of the property. SBOE is one I'd love to see.
Lol I would love to go to SVOE…I’ll keep the tour in mind next time I get the opportunity to check out a nursery 😁

Haha that was me last time! It took me a few minutes to get my bearings and take it slow. Visual overload 🤣

You’re welcome! It’s such a cool place that I wish I could visit more often 😄
I wish I could visit! I was hoping Northwest Garden Show would happen this year so I could see him again....

Amazing place!😍 love your new orchids, thanks for the tour😊
You're welcome! It's such a cool place, I think more people should know about it :)
I’ll love to visit that nursery🥰
Yea! It’s a great place 😊
I've been wanting an isabelia virginalis for so long, I'd love a future update on it.
Of course! It’s such an underrated plant...I wonder why it took me so long to discover it 😁
Looks like a lovely nursery. You have some good ones by you in southern california ☺️
Haha thanks! The weather is more conducive to orchid growing...can’t even imagine what it would be to go to Florida! 🤣
