My parents bought a 1965 Ford Country Squire, brand new for around $4500. They traded in the 1961 Ford Country Squire for the 1965. I drove that car to school my junior and senior years of high school. My sister inherited the car when she got married and had children. She drove it until the late ‘70’s. I always loved that car. It was white with red interior. I wish I still had it. Thanks for sharing this video of your beautiful car. It brought back great memories of our old Ford.
MichaeI - normally I encourage someone with your story to go save & search for a car just like your beloved long lost Ford. ..however.... as a Ford expert, please be careful that for some reason, the 1965s had a reputation for frame rust that the 66s didn't have.....and yet they're the same basic frame & body. Just please be aware if you start looking at these cars for purchase. Good luck!!
I bought 65 Ranch Wagon from a car lot in 73 for $500. It was a Navy car and painted grey with a 240 6 cyl. truck engine in it. It ran great. I needed a truck so I cut the roof behind the front seats then took the angled body section with the rear window and move it up to where I cut the roof. Welded the back doors together and filled. I made a Ranchero out of it. Then had it painted at Earl Schibe. It looked it was factory made and got lots of questions.
@@JL.FortneyProductions when I sold it, three different guys came out at the same time. One guy was upset because he drove a ways and it wasn't a real 65 Ranchero, but one guy bought it because he thought it was unique.
Our first car in my memory was our blue-green 64 Country Sedan. Dad later said it had the 352 4 barrel. Mom called it a "gas hog". So Dad traded it in for a new 1966 Galaxie Club Coupe, 6-cylinder, 3 on the tree. He wasn't impressed with the power, so he "fired" the car the following year, and replaced it with a new 67 Custom 500 4-door, regular fuel 2 barrel 390 & C6. That became our family car for several years.
I had one of these wagons....bought it new, in the days of the "drive-ins". Alot of family memory's me and the wife used to...well let's keep it decent! Fun car!
Think it would be a nice little touch while showing a car from say , 1965, play some music from that year in the background, there sure are plenty of great tunes just from that year alone, just a suggestion. This Ford wagon looks beautiful. Think Station Wagons( compared to Mini-Vans) are better looking, and more fun to Drive, and can still haul loads. Yes, Mini-Vans did and do have sliding doors, and they function ok for what they do. Like a line from a Jethro Tull song says," There's a time for everything". Think that's what station wagons could almost do, comfy and practical. Good for long trips.
Beautiful wagon. My parents had the same exact car, same color etc. The only difference, ours had the dog dish hub caps for 65 with color coordinated steel wheels. I remember going to pre-school in that car and remember loving it. The 65 Country Sedan is what made me fall in love with station wagons to this day. Currently, I have a 1976 Ford Country Squire and my everyday driver is a Volvo Cross Country wagon.
I think the 1st hubcaps that were on it were for 1966. My dad bought a 1964 Ford Country Sedan brand new when I was little. It was stripped. 289ci & a luggage rack. That was it. No ps, pb, pw, pl, no power seat or A.C. Dad sold it to my older brother in late 70's, then I found it at a Toledo Ohio dealer in rough shape in 1990's. I knew from a specific dent, a rip on top of back seat from transporting my bicycle, and the rust spots that my brother repaired. Sad...I wish I had it today.
In '65 lap belts were optional. In 66 front lap belts were mandated. In '68 front shoulder belts that stored in the ceiling were mandated but were rarely used.
Not likely to find out what its worth since Ronda's grandparents bought it new. Like my 73 Camaro I bought new selling is not going to happen!!! ...Thanks for watching!
FANTASTIC!
It sure is 😎👍

@James D I think I have more respect for your Mom than your brother.....but still glad he didn't get hurt.

Ours was a "honey gold poly" (greenish) with a champagne interior. This brings back a lot of early memories.
58 years on the road
That's a Keeper!!! 😎👍
and yet, sigh... mom sold it to an auntie from our elementary school...

My mother r.i.p. had a yellow one with air conditioning. And a 428 v8.

Beautiful....but deeply strange 'music' during garage emergence....
Thanks
Seat came into law in 1963, my Uncle had a 1965 LTD had seat belts!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seat BELTS you mean!
my parents 65 ltd had them too
Seat belts became standard equipment in 66, side marker lights in 68.
In '65 lap belts were optional. In 66 front lap belts were mandated. In '68 front shoulder belts that stored in the ceiling were mandated but were rarely used.
Its not a car , its a member of the family!
Got that Right!!!

Very nice car but nowadays you better have seatbelts in it

Wonder what that car is worth in that condition. Crazy that was before seat belts came along. Thanks for sharing.

Seat belts (lap) were standard in 65 kid.
nope those cars came from factory with seat belts.
