I think they fooled themselves into thinking that what they were bringing now would be better than their classic achievements.
That's impossible. With their former management, they created something magical that themselves can not match today.
Westlife was perfect the way it was. Music today has no emotion or quality. It's a voice and instruments. There's no soul.
There was no way they would sing new material on their show. The majority of the people want their classic music. Including those song they never performed live.
Westlife was unique. It catered for old and young. Their vocal arrangement was on another level.
I don't know what Mark is talking about regarding studio frustration. Everything their former management and producers did or produced was pure gold. It will go down in the History as quality and class. I mean they achieved 14 number one hits . Their vault is full of beautiful songs. I prefer to listen to that than the new music. FACT

Well, fair that you make your point here. And it's an interesting argument. But, I disagree big time. I don't see sense in playing-off their old and their new stuff. Time is changing, sound is changing. And what's amazing is, almost all of their new material is original music. Though, most of their former songs were also original music, now the ratio is even higher. I agree with you on the point that their album songs are the best they have, and I wonder and really criticize why they never play some of these songs live. It's a narrative that's simply is not really tested or true: that their fans mainly want to see the same 15 songs played over and over again live. There were times, no matter which song they would have released, this song would have gone to number one. Fact. So, it's wrong to assume that fans love eat pray Mandy. Or Swear It Again. Or Queen of My Heart. For me, I am a bit tired of these songs. And if you look at streaming figures, highly streamed songs get more streams with higher percentage. As they are more visible, have a higher streaming count either way, and rank on top. (also are preferred by the algorithm). Thus, Westlife should dare more and trust more of their absolute stunning ballads (When A Woman Loves A Man, Written In The Stars, Puzzle of My Heart, No More Heroes, Maybe Tomorrow, Don't Say It's Too Late, If Your Hearts Not In It) and uptempos (Change Your Mind, No No, Somebody Needs You, Magic, Alone Together, etc.). And common, to say that songs like "Always With Me" or "Lifeline" have no soul? C'mon, thats not true! These songs are blood tear jerkers. They helped me cope with the biggest loss of my live recently.
