- After attending the world premiere of ROCKETMAN at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, Elton treated guests to a special surprise performance at the afterparty. Joined onstage by the film's star, Taron Egerton, the pair launched into a duet of 'Rocket Man'. The song is one of many Elton hits Egerton sings throughout the movie, which received a four minute standing ovation when screened earlier that evening.

Every time I see them play, I am touched by how Elton supports Taron as opposed to out stage him. He clearly has tremendous affection for him.
Elton is a warm and loving personality and it's not his ego to try to upstage younger performers. He adopts them. He's now secure in his legacy and that is a beautiful thing to see.
It’s an incredible duet. Taron takes the stage on his own but Elton sweeps in and underscores the whole performance.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I am looking forward to it. I have always loved Elton's music. In fact one of my first ever 45's (and for you youngins who don't know what that is that is a single play record or disc) was Benny and the Jets. I love Taron Egerton's version of Elton's music. For all the haters listen to what Elton said he did not want someone to lip sync his music he wanted the real deal and I would say he got what he wanted. Brilliant as usual from Sir Elton John.

What I love when they sing together is how Elton allows Taron to do most of the singing and mainly plays the piano and you can tell by his facial expressions he’s so proud.

The best part is in the movie he sounds a LOT more like Elton when singing, yet here his voice is totally different. That shows he has a really versatile singing voice, and can mold it exactly how he wants. Even most Grammy winners do not have this skill and typically only have their one singing voice.

If u can't see here. Look on their performance of Tiny Dancer and you'll see plenty of it there as well. I kind of watch the two performances consecutively, and saw plenty of comments like that which prompted me to comment this. I'm not referring on EJ fans as a whole, but just like any fandom some fans are really toxic.
I don't understand it either. I absolutely love Elton, and I think Taron does incredible job. Can't wait to see the movie and hear/see more of him.

It was criminal that Taron didn't receive at least an Oscar nomination as Elton John. Especially when you consider that he received nominations from BAFTA and SAG and won a Golden Globe, as well as a Satellite. He nails Elton's phrasing on the songs, sings them beautifully and perfectly, and also Elton's performance facial expressions, his walk and his run, and all along he's convincingly dramatic and authentically comedic

I love that scene. I watch that movie on occasion solely for that one scene. He sounds like he's having so much fun and it's so upbeat. That is when I fell in love with Taron Egerton's voice and I soon started looking into his person. Not too deeply, though, that would be creepy.
Ahaha yes! I remember watching that movie (not knowing who Egerton was at the time) and being so impressed. I still didn't really know who he was when it was announced he would play Elton John, but I remember I was like "oh my gosh! He was the one who sang 'I'm Still Standing' in Sing!!" So I knew he was going to be great. And now, having seen the movie, I am even more impressed by not only his singing, but acting skills too!

If you listen to this rendition by Taron and the original Elton John's performance from 1972 back to back, you will be stunned to realize how similar their voices are. I'm still amazed by the film and can't stop listening to Sir Elton and Taron from the soundtrack.

These twos growth and friendship since Kingsmen 2 has been nothing short of amazingly beautiful.
