- Got the very cheap RTL-SDR working well in SDR ++ but the RSP1 clone is putting up a real fight. In this video i try SDR++ and SDR Console. Special thanks goes out to Ray, Tony and Gary who helped on the last video.

Hi Fred. Greetings from Arizona. I enjoy your videos. I have gone down the same road of trying out the cheap SDRs and had a lot of the same frustrations. I finally broke down and bought a SDRPlay RSP-1A and never looked back. What a great little receiver. There is a YT video out there on how to mute this receiver for use with a transmitter, which I intend to do with an old Heathkit transmitter and use it on 10 meters AM. Good luck.
Hi Fred I feel for you mate I tried for 6 months with SDR and gave up, you have more patience than me mate.
As always with your videos Fred it's about the journey not the destination. It's great to be in your company. Admire your persistence and it's fascinating seeing the process. We believe in you Fred !😅
Fine words and thanks bud :-)
Thanks for the video, Fred. SDR is a lot of fun.
Frid in the shed I learn lot from you about cb radios 📻 👌 😏 😉 🤣 😎
Frid in the shed your sdr defined receiver is cool 📻 😎 👌 👍
Love the SDR videos, so interesting.
Glad you like them!
Hi Fred I was using china sdr ....and then I just got my self a SDR Play...it works Like a dream and install easy...and the HF reception is amazing.....sound better than my Icom 7100..
SDRuno and driver will support SDRConsole aswell
28.8mhz is an oscillator in the RTL-SDR, they all have that spike.
At least You tried Fred and a joy to watch. Even though it didn’t work. But that’s sort of a answer as well. And yea nothing wrong with a man and his shed, you should no. Thanks for letting us see anyway I I joy it. See you soon. And hope to be no Air soon. AKA Night owl from Leighton Buzzard.👍🍻
Thanks Alan. I more or less like to show things how they are. Getting some of these SDR's to work is tough going.
Hi Fred I use Airspy sdr with noelec RTL sdr stick. It works great.
Fred, on 2 m 15 sec there's a ding dong noise. I've just ran to the front door. Lol
Hello... I've tested it with the debian 13 and gqrx and it worked fine. But yes, it was not in production yet... debian 12 does not provide the drive and the correct version of gqrx to use it.
Frid in the shed I am thinking about getting hand held cb radio with AM fm with ssb
Frid in the shed I like your utube videos
Well done Greg first comment
nice at last..... lol... ❤
I've just downloaded SDR++ and there is an option to choose form the source menu called SDRplay. Works fine with my SDR similar to yours.
Fred! from my past uses with SDR Console you have to use the Add button to add SDR Play as the definition. Then click Save & Start after that, if my memory is correct.
I'll drag my hardware out and hook it up & double check the software settings for you! but I am pretty sure that's how i got mine working. SDR Console V3 🖖👍
Thanks for that. I will certainly give it a try.
I don't know about the sdr types, but the same rules apply... its as only as good as the ariel it's connected to. PS love the videos
Spot on.
Hi Fred should of gone for the RTL SDR which I have cost me only 34 quid of Amazon works well with the software in downloaded free of the net anyway good luck
The only thing I can ever get on my SDR's are broadcast radio. I bought two, the first one I bought I found out was fake so I thought that was why I wasn't getting anything than FM radio. I then went for the Nooelec and exact same results. I don't have a great aerial and nowhere to put it outside. But I thought I would at least get something, somewhere. It's like the world is dead out there.
As others have said, you need the SDRPlay API for the clonef RSP1. There is an open source Mirics driver but I've not tried installing that, and it might only be available for Linux. I have the genuine RSP1A which is much better, as well as the clone. The clone arrived with the circuit board upside down so the SMA connector labels were wrong!
What you doing on that silly CB band for learn propagation, grey line.times,or go on a RAE course
Found SDR sharp to be quite buggy, locking up in the Frequency manager, and not changing Modes. Discovered SDR++ it's very good, had no problems. Only thing, when recording, it does not appear to pause during silence.
G0SEC seems to be running a 16 Core 1950x Threadripper powered PC.
My SDR++ together with RTL SDR and Win 10 show wrong frequency on the screen. FM ~100.000 Mhz works good and clear but the SDR++ says 59.000 Mhz.
I don't mind them to use as a pan-adapter for my radio's but nothing else, like most others it doesn't float my boat.
if you can get to 5505 usb volmet constant signal usually.. zoom in big... tune bandwidth..3.0 khz or 2.8 ish agc etc set then go to 27mhz...
if you change dongle reset program so it reconises which dongle or have them both plugged in at startup and it should find one or both and you can select... the dongle will be equal to your rx in the dx70 or your hf rig... mine is...
Thanks Tony.
8:50 etc When you change a dongle you really should close the program first and then reopen it once changed. On times you might even have to reboot so that the computer can sync itself to the new device. Either way plug&play shouldn't be expected. I just googled gprx and it isn't targeted at Windows but Mac and Linux. It can be done but it's a nightmare .. stay well away for your sanity! :-)
Did you test the rsp1a clone with sdruno ?
Hi. Yes i did try. Not recognised as a genuine SDRPlay product.
@@CB-RADIO-UK it should work otherwise its broken ?
hdsdr works fine with my rsp1a
Hi Fred, best stick with nooelec where you have more documentation and support and your time will be more productive. Interesting video though!
That's the plan!
may i ask you why do you not like to use sdr play ?
Hi Paul. Legally can only be used on their SDR radios.
@@CB-RADIO-UK hi fred . what do you think to sdr radios and are there any good as i am thinking of geting one lol
I am interested in trying SDR and funny enough I just looked at video where a guy said something like Windows will download a driver that isn't right, you need to download the driver for the model you have, so from what he said the Windows driver will not work. he did it in a bout 3 or 4 easy steps..
Yes you need a generic driver. I tested a few but ended up recommending this Nooelec as it was easy to set up as they offer support and drivers etc. Vid here. ruclips.net/video/D0FN25-ok8A/видео.html
Get the source code for an adaptive filter and create a plugin.
For that RSP1 clone you need to install the API.
this but also an older version of the drivers most likely, they started locking out clone sdrplays in newer versions.
@@LeeDonaghy the 3.11 version just works here with sdr++
Hi John. API ? is that the full name ?
Hi Fred, in my previous comment the name for the sdrplay_source should have read blank left hand box, unfortunately it wouldn't let me edit it.
OK Neal will have a final look in the week.
Hi Fred, for that big spike .. please turn in IQ Correction .. this is designed to knock out DC Spikes found in computers
Thanks
the rsp clone is based on an old model rsp1... try and forget about the uno software for now... its a long story.. it will work with a early uno software... they dont like it.... and their later software has features for later dedicated models which is totalky fair... start with the basics... like you did in a car.... lol or your HF rig... step by step.. 😂
Hi Fred if I can find your email address I will send you photos for soldering a jump cable factory forgot to do properly took me a year to find it this is for rtl sdr no 1
the fake rsp is just the same as your nu elec but a little better.. it simulates the rsp play but no as good... thats china for you lol
You basically set sail on a sea of misery when using cloned hardware. Lack of support and lack of documentation tend to be the main problems you face. Finding others who have sailed that sea before is your only option, if you can find them. I think I will probably be buying an official RSP1A myself to avoid "mal de mer." 🤢
Yes Nick ive come to the same conclusion. The Nooelec is 100 times easier.
Fred, this is the exact reason you don't buy cheep or cloned, the money you've spent now you could've purchased a real RSP1 and been done weeks ago, love you man but don't get your thinking on this one
I mean... It costs $15 and literally one command in Arch Linux to get it working.
Thanks Charlie. Your 100% right. The Nooelec is one i will eventually recommend.
CB is not at 27.500 silly You got to go lower .
Wrong what about the UK 40 FM channels. They finish just under 28 Mhz.
@@CB-RADIO-UKcorrect for the UK sir true . I was thinking our USA band plan . I will blush away now . Sorry .
LOL dont be daft your not the first to forget about the very odd FM channels that were forced upon us back in 1981. We wanted your channels but had to wait till 2014.
