- The engrailed and small engrailed are moths of the family Geometridae found from the British Isles through central and eastern Europe to the Russian Far East and Kazakhstan.Ectropis crepuscularia is the only member of the genus in America north of Mexico. Wingspan 30-41 mm. The main flight period appears to be March to October.
Frequenting woodland, gardens and other bushy habitats.
formerly known as two separate species, Engrailed and Small Engrailed (E. bistortata and E. crepuscularia). Recent scientific investigations have revealed that these are actually just one species, now recorded as crepuscularia.
