And most mainline Protestant denominations celebrate so called “Catholic” holidays and have a lot the same traditions as Catholics. Specifically Anglicans and Lutherans.

How about St. Patrick? Who went to Ireland and converted pagans to Christianity. All these examples are pre-reformation and therefore Catholic. Interesting. I'm a mix of British and Irish, and live in England. Here, Catholics are a minority. In Ireland, Protestants are a minority. In both countries people think of Catholics as the oppressed ones historically. But people forget that in most of Europe, and even here during the reign of Catholic Queen Mary the 1st (Bloody Mary as she is now known) it was completely the other way round! I'm descended from French Huguenots on one side. So I know only too well about the persecution of Protestants by the Catholic authorities. I assumed pretty much all Italians were Catholic. So it's fascinating to hear about Italian protestants. I have to say that I personally think all bigotry is wrong; and see people of all faiths and none as my brothers and sisters. I take as I find 😊
The Italian Waldensian Evangelical Church dates back to the 12th century (before the broader reformation got underway later down the line) and is / was ostensibly a reformed Christian movement completely forged in and native to Italy. Reformed Christianity isn't a new phenomenon in Italy . As the Italian gentleman in the clip states, RC dominates Italy through firmly enmeshing itself into Italian culture. To a degree Italian and RC are almost considered synonyms by some. Personally I'm a reformed background person but am fascinated by different strands of Christianity. Rome fractured Christianity twice though. First with the schism between east and West, then the reformation through ignoring Martin Luther and his contemporaries pleas to tackle corruption and abuse of money and power.. Perhaps things have changed over the centuries and the rc institutions are now cracking down upon those things a bit more resolutely. So many sad stories of loss and division wrought though difference in belief though.
Catholicism's doctrines aren't on the same path and it's not biblical and that is true. To be defined by Man-made Religion is a lost cause - but Faith is Freedom.
