Luv my 83 480, owned it since 1988 and will never sell it. Still has all her plastics she was born with and they still shine like new. Alittle bit of port work and these old girls will rip ya arms out of their sockets when they get on the pipe. Stock they are all bottom end and midrange. Torque monsters. Love ya vid mate, i wanna see mooooooore of that gorgeous old big bore chuckin dirt in the air.
Raced one of these in the expert/pro classes in the mid 80's I'm still kicking myself for selling it ! ESPECIALLY knowing what they're worth nowadays !!! I always enjoyed watching people try to start it being it was 1- a big bore two stroke 💪 2- LEFT SIDE KICK 🤣
Agreed! There's a few I wished I hadn't sold, but frankly they were all used up- especially the Suzukis! When I was young, I went through too many sets of handlebars on big bores...
@@MrLaidbacklenny lol yeah definitely, and thank God that Honda decided to make the 83 CR-480 with the first removable sub frame for all of those FLIPPER OVER BACKWARDS that went along with many sets of bent bars too! Sure made it easier just repairing a removable subframe to straighten out 😂👍
Had one these bikes ..so easy to go fast..reliability was excellent..brakes were ok .suspension in front was bad..shock was ok ..turned on a dime very light..the power was bottom to mid-range fell off on top(if unplug the blue wire to cdi it's the Rev limiter.it helps get a little more outta the top end). If u extend the clutch arm at the case by taking it off cutting it in two then weld on half in piece of metal making longer will help that atrociously stuff clutch..hope this helps..if this bike had more top end. disc hrakes.. and revamped suspension you could easily win even against today's bikes..truth
This is a friend's bike. He is very moto savvy. Raced them back when they were new!-lol Was riding with him on my KTM250SX(2018). We had some good motos together. Thanks for the comment!
@@MrLaidbacklenny then he knows all the issues of '83.480. Not to many .the gearbox is better than yz250x and it's 35 years older..it's a incredible bike

Couldn't ride open bikes when I was young- Went through too many sets of handlebars crashing!
You're so lucky to have your own track on your property. 👍🔥🤑❤🎶👂🍻
A friend's track AND AGREED! He has a pond to swim in when it gets hot out too. Met him in 1979, been friends ever since.
What an awesome bike! I love my '82
For many years I was unable to ride them- Went through too many sets of handlebars!-lol
4 speed all the way 😉✌️
That looks like the perfect track. Perfect dirt 👍
It was a great day to ride!
Sounds great!
Looks like Michigan?
They sound so much like a Maico 490, the 500s have a different sound. Great little vid but 👍
Thank you. I am very 2-stroke biased. Personally went through too many sets of handlebars(crashing) on the big bores...
@@MrLaidbacklenny I have the 84 CR500, crazy fast bike once it's had the head mod and jetted 👌
