Love how ustadh is always optimistic and it shows in the way he talks. I've heard countless times from everyone that I'll be punished in hell because I miss my prayers and I'm a bad person. Although I try to be regular in prayer sometimes I don't pray because i feel ashamed facing Allah after an argument with my parents because I know I committed a sin. I regret it.
When you make a mistake and admit it (so you feel bad because you know it wasn’t good) you should pray even more. Greater chance for forgiveness and huda (guidance) from Allah (swt). Here is my summary on the video: We pray to remember allah the way he wants us to remember him, honoring he relationship we have with allah. We honor allah because all good things in our life comes from him, and this relationship will continue for a long time after we even leave this world. Ive also learnt that Actions without the right intentions have no value. It is not enough that we pray for the right reasons, but to also understand the purpose and value(benefits) that prayer adds to our lives. The benefits of prayer include stopping us from falling into indecency, by truly remembering allah we protect our hearts from a path that will lead us to falling into more indecency. In the end, the decision is ours to make, we dont have alot of time on earth, so if we really want to respect and honor that relationship with allah, we pray. And as for parents, we were given the opportunity to cultivate in them a love for allah that we can pass on, as controlling them to pray does not let their hearts grow to love allah but rather builds tension or even resentment in our relationship with our children.
I realize now, that what i do now with 36 year old is not what my parents told me to do, its what I saw them doing. I have two toddlers now and Ill try to be the best exemple for them as possible so if they derail at one point they will find the way back taking my life as exemple. May Allah help all parents to guide their kids the best way possible
