Regarding the comment by Bart that a villain with an overpair couldn't wish for a better runout: you are entirely correct but likely overestimating a random villain. He's unlikely to be counting value combos and much more likely to simply think: "double paired board scary!"

Not sure if I'd lead flop here. If I checked I'd check-raise to 650 on the flop and (slight overbet) jam turn. That would look like a combo draw or pair plus draw.

My initial thought when the V bets flop is they could possibly have all the sets and overpairs and wants to charge 98, 78, diamonds, etc. Then as the hand goes on, as Bart said, the board pairing makes it less likely there are sets or now full houses available.
On the River, I think it is a trivial fold for the V. It was a single raised pot that went 5 ways to the flop. The Hero has all of the suited connectors and just connected cards that hit this board hard. The only bluffs Hero can have on this board at the end might be 88 and diamonds. H doesn't have over pairs cause that would be played different pre, so what are you really left with?

    • @alexdodenhoff8647

It seems to me that the problem with jamming is that you are only likely to get called by better. Bart says that this is a good run out for the villain. if he has pockets - maybe - but don’t forget hero has a lot more 9s and 7s in his range than the villain does. Is this a spot where a block bet might be best? $500 bet is more likely to get called and only likely to get jammed on by the nuts...

    • @adday3006
      @adday3006 2 года назад

@@Gos1234567 That's where I'm confused though. Knowing that he said all that, he then (4:45) says "If there was ever a place here to I think lead I think this is actually a pretty good spot to lead." That seems to contradict what he said earlier, where he identified the tendency to check to the bettor, and if the bettor is last to act then the flop is likely to check through.

Ok, how is this a good runout for AA? Sure diamonds missed but if you have AA, 50% chance you have the Ad anyway, so that's likely not the draw you were worried about. Just about any suited connector type hand (which are the most likely to beat AA to begin with) beats you. Maybe they didn't draw the hand they expected to draw, but they still drew one that beats one pair!
If the double paired board is like J29J2 then sure, that's good for AA but I don't think this board is.
Anyway in this hand, I am probably check raising or just open shoving turn, a single pair board isn't nearly as scary for a straight as a double pair board. And overpairs may call because many draws missed and you could be semi bluffing. River as is, I check fold, but expect to go to showdown and win at least sometimes.

    • @JohnSmith-nx7zj

I guess on the flop villain with AA loses to:
      99, 77, 66, 97s, 76s so 14 combos.
On the river he still loses to all those hands but there’s only
      8 combos.
I guess the question is, does hero raise the flop with 98s or 87s. That would add another 4 combos. But even still, all the diamond draws and other 8x combos have bricked out.

I hate the river jam ...
What could possibly call 1400 with that board texture except a hand that beats you....
Its a losing bet on the river ... how is a double paired board good for Aces!!!! ???????!!!!!

A suited 2 gap call the open from the straddle. Then flop a straight, but the bottom end. A 10-8 suited open or call an open is a real possibility. I know I'm seeing monsters under the bed on this hand, but I wouldn't have played as aggressively on the flop as the hero. On the turn onwards yes when villain bets multiway. Betting pre-flop, then leading strong on flop and hesitating on check call signals either Oscar level acting or an over pair.

I’m surprised Bart prefers betting river vs x/call. V has more busted draws like Axdd than overpairs IMO.
Besides, a random guy is probably not even calling an overpair OTR on this runout.
Therefore, x to bluffcatch seems more +ev.

@Brett Mason Media it easily could. I'd call with AA against a pro and fold against a rec. Pros know you need to have bluffs in every spot and that is the best runout for AA. If V is a rec he is almost never bluffing stuff like JTs. Most recs aren't even good enough to bet 85 for value here, which makes the fact he's actually a winning rec player that plays regularly but not for income more relevant. What's your next question? You're whining about 1.5% of a video lol

15:05 .. _why on earth would you ever x/c here?_ To induce worse hand to to Value bet, or to bluff!! Absolutely best play is x/c the river.
    .
The worst play is to bet river here. (Take a look what happened, if you do not believe me: H shoved and forced pocket AA to run away with his money!!). So, H left at least $700 on the table.
_Edit: betting is a lose-lose situation: No worse hand would call, any better hand will call_
