Opinions on who is the best dancer in Ive or dance ranking overall? From what I've seen they tend to not be super consistent across performances on stage (which is fine, not every group has to be dance heavy) and there might be some improvements and regressions 🤔

we have the same exact thoughts and ranking. Yujin esp. I kinda hate how inconsistent she is. I feel like her prime was Eleven where she always went full out. Also kinda think Liz would do great as part of the dance line.

Out of Ive, I usually prefer Yujin’s dancing the most, but Gaeul has some good moments as well. And I tend to like Liz too, I think she’s starting to stand out more as time goes on. It’s hard to really evaluate Ive’s dancing because their execution is purposefully minimal and restrained, so the girls don’t really have to freedom to show their full skill sets. So at that point I don’t really evaluate their skill, it’s more how well they can do within the movements they’re restricted to. I feel like Yujin is probably the best at this, but it kind of looks like some of them are regressing because they are so restrained and can’t really practice much dancing outside of this style.
And generally I try to avoid judging Wonyoung’s dancing too harshly because I don’t think she has much strength to support her dancing.

i suggest watching their challenges (With other groups, E.g Nct127 Fact Check with Leeseo and Gaeul) or just them dancing in lives or dance covers (Though its pretty outdated)

Actually Liz has always stood out more as a dancer compared to leeseo...before their positions were confirmed people did call her one of the lead dancers or the 3rd best dancer of the group . She imo is the 3rd best dancer still to this day... people just like to blindly follow positions as if those are the ultimate truths.

I'm always impressed at how Gaeul is so good at dancing, she never misses steps and her moves are so clean

Fr she always hits the smallest details in every dance. E.g. Eleven's hip popping, After Like's "arrow" hitting their chest, Baddie's "bubble pop" finger movements, and now Heya's reliance on torso movement to get the dance's simple but full effect.
She and Yunjin are undoubtedly the best dancers from a technical standpoint, but they're both unique. Gaeul is better at sticking to the principles, which could make her look robotic at times. Yunjin is better at feeling the vibe of the song and go with the flow, which could result in over-dancing and out-dancing the group.

Tbh, if anything, Yujin seems to have regressed a bit since debut cuz she has lost a bit of definition in dance, and seems to opt for a stylistic approach which prevents her from showing her full potential, but yes, she seems to be more appreciated nowadays cuz she basically improved in everything else. Her sp is now unreachable by most people, she finally developed the basics in singing, and seems to keep improving every day, etc

Pretty sure Gaeul is supposed to not lean because she is the shortest in the group and they have to look uniform and symmetrical in their stages. I also think it's why Wonyoung and Yujin spend a lot of time sharing the center, aside from being the most popular, they're also the tallest in the group.

Naturally, Yujin the best here. Like Soyeon (G)I-dle, Yeji (ITZY), Chaewon (Le Sserafim) ... she is the core of the group. Good at everything. The real one all-rounder. It's always a pleasure to watch such performers professionally.

I think Gaeul did this one the best. Her moves are so sharp. When there’s a sudden stop in the choreo, she is as still as a cat. No swaying into the next move. Some choreo looks better with fluid movement, but for Heya, Gaeul’s style fits the song the most for me.
Yujin and Liz also did great. Liz is the queen of hip movements/body waves, and Yujin has the footwork and energy mastered.

I'm in love with the elegant way Liz moves. I enjoy IVE's minimalist style, but watching it for too long makes me feel a bit....unfulfilled? Kind of hazy....which goes well with their amazing aesthetic lol but.....Just because I know they could be going harder, but the restraint is meant to be there. I really like watching Yujin dance and she still is obviously the best but just knowing how she CAN do MOREEEEE is sometimes frustrating.

It's always obvious that Yujin objectively is their best dancer despite IVE not having a main dancer. And I personally think Yujin got the best detail here too. Since she already has the best body control and technique overall. We can see from the part where they supposed to move like they 'swallow the sun'. The coordination between her arm/hand and body is the best there (+with power projection and locking) She seems to be the only one who really make it looks like the sun moving down her stomach.
Liz also always a good one since debut. She got one of the best (if not the best) torso fluidity of the group. And her dance accent is cute. The way she always sways her head is kinda add a good feeling and goes well with their feminine concept.

Gaeul's "lacks fluidity" is spot on. Thats what Ive noticed too. Yujin is the best dancer imo. I like Liz's and Leeseo too. Ive watched them live twice during university festivals and Leeseo is the most consistent with her dancing. Kiddo did her best regardless if she's in the middle or at the back. She became my favorite because of that.

for me yujin did first then liz second. gaeul is good but in this type of dance liz is more able to fit herself in the concept or the flow.
i think the choreo is not that bad, but the member unable to excute it as a group, hence why it didn't look too harmonizing when they dancing together. i like the song though.

If you want detailed one, gaeul but lacks fluidity and sometimes look stiff. Yujin's dancing is more my type since I am not here to learn the choreo but to watch a performance. Isolations, control and fluid and she adjusts the movements based on her style which I like.

Ive always feels like watching someone dance in lower case. When I saw the choreo by the dancers side by side for this song, I felt underwhelmed. When they do songs that require energy, it is like take a good dance and minimalize it to the lowest it can go. I believe that with Wonyoung in the group, it will remain that way so that she is always shown in a fresh light. IZone had more energy as a group, so I know she is capable, they need to stop hindering this group from being even greater and let thsm expand in their dance. 😤

I agree with Wonyeong's ranking, but I want people to know that more minimalistic dancing is a GOOD thing. The thing about group choreographies is uniformity is most important. Members who are taller and have longer limbs tend to have smaller movements to make the whole choreography look aesthetic and synced. You'll notice this with lots of groups with taller members: Wonyeong from IVE, Tzuyu from TWICE, Yuna from ILLIT, Joy from RV, the list goes on. While alone their movements look awkward, when looking at the whole thing together it looks much better than if Gaeul (who needs to do bigger movements) and Wonyeong (who needs to do smaller movements) did things the same.

im so sick of this. wony's dance back in izone was so good because her weight was normal. now that shes severely underweight, her dance got worse. i hope she starts exercising soon so she'll strengthen her muscles so that her weight can become back to normal

Although YuJin’s isn’t the best she always looks the best to the eye.
Her height, body proportion, more energy and more intense movement makes it that way.
Wonyoung has a similar build but her movement are more subtle and that makes it less satisfying to the eye.
When checking the details, Gaeul has a more refined form and her pops are just better, in some instances I don’t quite understand what move they were doing, but when Gaeul does it, I realise, ok that’s what they were doing.

Gaeul is a dancer while Yujin is a performer.
Imo, Gaeul is still the best dancer among them-I mean she's main dancer for a reason🤷‍♀️. She was already a "professional" dancer before she even became an idol, she joined multiple dance competitions and that's also where she got scouted by jyp.
Gaeul always focuses on details, never missing a thing. She's a lot more sharp, precise, clean, and fluid compared to Yujin who tends to skip or miss on details. Don't get me wrong, Yujin is still a great dancer and I think she appeals more to non professionals because she has the charisma and power to captivate people, and only people with a lot of dance experience would always put Gaeul first.
Another thing why non-professionals think Gaeul is stiff, it's because IVE's dance style doesn't suit hers. Ya'll would be surprised if ya'll are able to watch some pre-debut vids of Gaeul. Even just watching her dance challenge on New Thing would be enough to prove how good she is and why she got scouted in the first place.

Starship really has two ace cards in IVE but has decided to sleep on them, focusing only on Wonyoung's looks to carry the group.
Liz and Yujin are clearly all-rounders:
- Looks
- Dance
- Singing
- Personality
No offense to Wonyoung, as her looks are definitely something, but treating Yujin as her sidekick and Liz as trash because she gained weight is just atrocious.

​@nhunsStarship did treat Wonyoung better. You might almost say pretty privilege doesn't exist. In theory, it shouldn't, but unless you're five years old, you should know better how the world works. Wonyoung did get better treatment compared to the rest. She got more screen time, more deals, better dresses, etc.
Again, I'm not saying she doesn't deserve the golden treatment. She is blessed and works hard to maintain her image. But aside from her 10/10 looks, she's a pretty basic idol with basic skills. Yujin and Liz excel in skills but are often overshadowed, and don't even get me started on the rest of the members.
