what are the benefits of using 2nd method (adding code directly in the file manager), why not use the first method if it's easier and takes care of everything?

Some people prefer the second method so we share how to do it. There are also some sites that may have something set up that forces them to use the second method but that is rare.

Thank you! Can I delete Simple SSL plugin after activating SSL? Will it still be SSL?

Thank you! I have a question. My WordPress website does not have SSL installed. I tried to change the URL to https by adding S, (Settings -> General). Now I cannot access my website. It says, "This page isn't working" Can you please tell me how can I fix this issue. Thank you so much!

You would need SSL for your site to use HTTPS, if you check with your host they may be able to set it up for you or you would need to manually update your URL back to HTTP using one of the methods from our article below!

Thank you but why isn't it working for my subdomain?

It would depend on the issue you are running into but if you check with your hosting provider they can normally assist in fixing this.

You might want to change your credentials because you were to late with blurring them out at 8:32.
I have a question. Im using slider revolution plugin to build my pages and since i migrated to https all those sliders are not working anymore. I used better search and replace to check for http links that needed to be changed to https and ive done that but didnt make any difference. Any tips? My site was done and now its not working anymore.

You would want to reach out to the plugin's support for how to resolve this issue with slider revolution.

We would recommend checking with your hosting provider first for common solutions as sometimes there needs to be something on their end that needs to be modified.

Fyi - a secure looking connection can also be fraudulent / assigned to a malware laced website.

Correct, HTTPS means the connection to their site is safe from being able to be tampered with not that the site itself is safe.
