I need to educate people bc it’s not pronounced Va-ket-a.. and it’s not people pronounce it the way they want… it’s Cowhide leather.. in French Cow is Vache ( Va-shhh) and is why it’s Vachetta (Va-shh-etta)… and people of a certain calliber (upper class) and educated.. know this. And unfortunately people who say Vaketta.. sound uneducated and ignorant.. and no matter the collection, simply looks like a poor person trying to hard and the upper class will never respect if they ever hear you say Vaketta..so u know.. plz educate other people as well.. also I don’t make the rules.. just letting you know.. so you can be respected and not laughed at behind ur back Anyway, best of luck.

Vachetta comes from vache, the French word for cow. However the Italians adopted the root word with their own pronunciation for what we now know as tanned leather. The French in turn adopted the Italian word that was based in French and pronounce it the French way. I love the etymology of words and history of design over all and welcome conversations like this.
